Category:Jewish Mentalists

Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality is rather strongly against splitting a category by religion or ethnicity unless it's a key feature of the main category; so unless you find a noticeable number of sources focusing only on Jewish mentalists, we should delete. If you do, we can keep, but note that it should also be a non-diffusing subcategory, in other words we should keep those entries in Category:Mentalists. --GRuban (talk) 15:48, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

"The total population" of what? Half your entries are actually Israeli, where I'm pretty sure the percentage of Jewish people is rather high. Of the world? Well, then every category with over 1% Jewish representation would need a Jewish subcategory, right? Or how about an "English speaking mentalists", I'm guessing most of the entries in that category would qualify, which is way over the percentage of the total world population. People around the world are getting sick of the left-wing bias, in the media, universities, and other places where it's gotten too bloody one-sided. There is a very common mistake of assuming that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to promotion for commercial gain, but that is not so. Sometimes creators of promotional content are bewildered that it is considered such. If one has been trained to write or spent some time writing corporate documents or mission/vision statements or anything similar, they may simply be blind to the promotionality. It can be hard to unlearn.

Another misconception is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc. and CV/resumé's are by their nature promotional.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Elon Musk; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection.
