Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Tristan.Ackley. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:IBUYPOWER, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 05:46, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

I work for the company, iBUYPOWER, a desktop OEM in partnership with Intel, Microsoft, AMD, NVIDIA, and many other industry-recognized partners. I have been tasked with creating a Wikipedia page about the company, and am doing my best to write in a neutral, non-promotional way. I am a professional writer with many years of experience in the field, and am perfectly open to constructive feedback. I fully understand Wikipedia's position on neutrality and fully support its mission to refrain from any promotional content. I have done my best to write in a tone similar to that of our industry competitors, such as CyberPowerPC, NZXT, and Corsair, yet their pages seem to be approved while iBUYPOWER's gets blocked and/or deleted within minutes of my posting. My concern is that there is not being a fair consideration of our page and content, and rather than providing guidance on how to better align the messaging with Wikipedia's guidelines, we're being deleted without due process - an action which feels more like an automated bot rather than a person reviewing the content objectively. If possible, I would greatly appreciate speaking with a Wikipedia moderator so that I can align with your expectations and publish an About Company page. My sincere thanks and gratitude for your consideration. Kind regards, Tristan.Tristan.Ackley (talk) 17:58, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As you seem to still want to edit about your company, there are no grounds to remove the block, and I am declining your request. I will have a further reply in a few minutes. 331dot (talk) 20:27, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia does not have "About Company pages" it has articles about notable topics that have been reported on in depth by multiple, independent reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 18:11, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • You and your company seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding as to what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves or to have "pages" about themselves. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia has articles about companies. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about companies that meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable company.(click to review) Wikipedia is not interested in what a company wants to say about itself, only in what others unaffiliated with the company say. Because of this, not every company merits an article here, even within the same field. Competitors meriting articles(which most likely were not written by company employees) is immaterial to whether your company merits an article. Feel free to show your superiors or bosses this message; what you have been tasked to do is irrelevant to Wikipedia.
You also have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest and are a paid editor; you must comply with those policies once unblocked(the latter is a Terms of Use requirement). You won't be unblocked to directly edit about your company. If you are interested in being an individual, general Wikipedia contributor, you might later be permitted to make edit requests to existing articles and use Articles for Creation to create new articles related to your COI- but only if after a time(six months to a year) you develop a good edit history that shows you can write in the manner expected on Wikipedia and are aware of its policies. If you are only here to edit about your company, this is the end of the line for your Wikipedia career, and you should consider social media, your company website, or alternative forums. 331dot (talk) 20:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
