November 2012 edit

Hello, I'm TheJJJunk. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Kent Whealy without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. JJJ (talk) 01:25, 15 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I'm rarkenin and I have reverted your changes on Kent Whealy. Such deletions of information should be discussed on a talk page and sourced appropriately as it is difficult to confirm whether these changes really undo lies or not, especially when the existing information that you have deleted includes sources and citations. Repeated offenses will be grounds for administrative action. Also see WP:POV. Feel free to contact me on my talk page if you need more help. Thanks! And I've reverted you. You didn't reply to my response to your BLPN post, you haven't raised this on the article's talk page (note that I rewrote it slightly). So far as I can see, the article is sourced according to our policies. You've raised no specific issues. His donation is public information, rightly so. His divorce is mentioned in the light of mentioning a 2nd wife (or else readers might think his first wife died), and shouldn't be a matter of shame in any case. Please don't do this again.   Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Kent Whealy, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:44, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

Hello, Treastor. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Kent Whealy, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Drm310 (talk) 15:13, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
