Ile-de-France edit

Hi Trödel. User:ThePromenader is back again leading his revert crusade. The Île-de-France article has been recently unlocked and only a few days later Promenader couldn't resist deleting a sentence about the metropolitan area of Paris ([1]), even though the sentence is backed by a source. He's also trying to rally people to support him (see User talk:ThePromenader#Other occupations?). It would be good if you could have a look at Talk:Île-de-France (region)#Here we go again. and give some input there. Thanks. Hardouin 12:09, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hardouin's only contributions these days is reverting my edits - so look there for the "crusade". Read the article talk page if you like, but this issue is closed. Cheers. THEPROMENADER 12:56, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Church of Jesus Christ (Not Bickertonite) edit

Interested parties who voiced opinions on this in the past, read all about it - the raging debate on moving the article on the Church of Jesus Christ (a.k.a. Bickertonite, or not) has flared up again, at Talk:The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ#Requested_move.2C_take_two. Come back for more fun and games if you care to - thanks for playing... - Reaverdrop (talk/nl) 05:05, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{sq m}} edit

Trödel,

I've nominated {{sq m}} for deletion again. I have replaced it on the following pages with {{ft2 to m2}} which seems to be working fine.

If you find any problem with the replacement template, I'd be glad to fix it. Jɪmp 04:43, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to look into how the pre-expand size can be trimmed so that {{ft2 to m2}} doesn't break when used dozens of times on a page. With any luck this can be done without sacrificing the newly added features (I think it can be but the range over which they'd work may have to be reduced—never fear: currently it's absurdly huge). As for giving "at least 2 significant digits ..., match[ing] the significant digits on the input, but never go[ing] to a decimal." Yeah, that's doable. A maximim precision feature could be added without too much increase in pre-expand size which could be used in conjunction with the current precision matching (which is slightly different to significant figure matching) which does now return a minimum of two sig figs. Jɪmp 21:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Do forgive my taking such a while to get back to you. I've had a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Latter Day Saint movement/Temples ... a very interesting system you've got going. I've been working on {{ft2 to m2}} and seem to have got it back down to a reasonable size. I seem to have managed to shrink it without reduction of features so it still matches the precision of the output to that of the input with a minimum of two significant figures. By "precision matching" I mean rounding the output to the nearest 10n-1 m² given an input precise to the nearest 10n sq ft, the factor of ten being due to the fact that 10 sq ft ≈ 1 m². I've also added a parameter, max precision, which, if set to zero, will make it such that the output will always be an interger. I've added this new version to {{LDS Temple list‎}}. I checked List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints‎ and found no problem (the pre-expand size did go up about 5% ... but perhaps you'll allow me that in exchange for eliminating false precision). Please, have a look and tell me what you think if you get the chance. Jɪmp 01:37, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thx for the note note - no problem on taking a long time to respond - I generally only check a few times a week - so I am the master of slow response :) And especially since {{ft2 to m2}} is now so much better than sq m in its functionality and does everything I wanted sq m to do - who can complain - thx for the work you did on that template.
I'll delete the template (and num commas referred to below) --Trödel 15:11, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Is there any advantage of using {{num commas}} as opposed to {{formatnum:}}? Jɪmp 03:04, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
nope - only made that template because I didn't know about the {{formatnum:}} --Trödel 15:11, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
For acres to hectares there is {{AcreAndHectare}}. For feet to metres there is {{ft to m}}. {{AcreAndHectare}} would need to be upgraded before I'd recommend it (it lacks most of the usual options e.g. you can't can't turn the linking off). {{ft to m}}, as it currently stands, looks like it'll blow your budget: I've just tested a conversion of 100 feet in the sandbox and found a pre-expand include size of 6235 bytes. Neither of these templates include the precision-matching feature which {{ft2 to m2}} has. {{AcreAndHectare}} could probably be brought up to speed without great difficulty. Upgrading {{ft to m}} whilst at the same time cutting back on the pre-expand include size would be more of a task but not, I believe, an impossible one. Jɪmp 17:10, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I went ahead and upgraded {{ft to m}} to include the features I'd added to {{ft2 to m2}}. I managed to reduce its pre-expand size for a single numerical input. I tested it out on {{LDS Temple list‎}}. It did work: the pre-expand size of List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints‎ was still within the 2 MB limit. However, it was getting tight at about 1.9 MB (compared to ~1.7 MB before adding the revised {{ft to m}}). Whether or not there'd be room for an upgraded {{AcreAndHectare}} was looking kind of 50-50. So I thought I'd try a completely new approach. I internalised the whole operation using subtemplates which do only what's wanted and only when it's wanted thus by-passing all the options and extras you get with the more general templates. I seem to have managed to cut the pre-expand size of List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints‎ down to about 1.1 MB whilst keeping those features of {{ft to m}} and {{ft2 to m2}} which we wanted. The precision of the floor area and height converted to (square) metres is still matched to the original value in (square) feet unless this gives us only one significant figure in which case the conversion goes to two significant figures, all this with the exception that we never go decimal. For site area conversions, however, I took a different approach following {{ac-ha}} I had it such that it would round to one decimal place for anything under 50 acres & to the nearest interger otherwise. However, considering that there are such small sites as those in Caracas, Venezuela; Fukuoka, Japan; and Hong Kong, China, perhaps we could go down another decimal point for anything less than one acre. Jɪmp 06:12, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you're happy with the new system both {{ac-ha}} and {{ft-m}} can be deleted. Jɪmp 08:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
First of all you have eight main subtemplates:
000) {{LDS Temple list‎/size}}
001) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-site}}
010) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-height}}
011) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-height-site}}
100) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-floor}}
101) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-floor-site}}
110) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-floor-height}}
111) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-floor-height-site}}
{{LDS Temple list}} and {{Infobox LDS Temple}} call whichever of these is appropriate dependant on the data they have inputted ... they don't call what they don't need & here's where you save on the pre-expand size. 000 is empty it gives you nothing (just like {{X0}}). 110 calls 100 and 010 inserting the and as appropriate. 111 calls 110 and 001 putting the appropriate on a between. Similarly 101 calls 100 and 001 while 011 calls 010 and 001 putting the appropriate on a between. 010 gives the height in feet, calls
CONV) {{LDS Temple list‎/convert}}
to convert this into metres and adds the word high unless the parameter type is set to anything but list (i.e. for type=infobox there is no high) thus allowing {{Infobox LDS Temple}} to use the same subtemplate. Similarly 100 gives the floor area in square feet converts to square metres using CONV, note though, that a third parameter is given this time: this is to account for a shift in precision (with respect to the value expressed in decimal notation) when going from square feet to square metres—we jump a power of ten since 10 sq ft ≈ 1 m².
CONV multiplies the first two of its input parameters together and rounds the product off. Note that the conversion factor must therefore be sent to CONV. Using {{precision/+}} CONV calculates the precision of the first parameter (the measurement in (square) feet) and adds the appropriate factor (given by the third parameter, defaulting to 0) to account of the aformentioned jump in precision. CONV also calculates the order of magnitude of the product of the first and second parameters (the converted value) using {{ordomag}} and subtracts this from 1 to obtain the precision to which to round in order to give two significant figures. Using {{max/2}} CONV finds the maximum of these two numbers thus matching precision except where this would give only one significant figure in which case two are given. This number is then compared to 0 using {{min/2}} giving us the smaller of the two thereby preventing the conversion from going decimal. This, finally, is the precision to which the converted value is rounded.
001 doesn't use CONV. Instead it converts acres to hectares by itself rounding to the nearest interger for anything greater than 50 acres & to one decimal place otherwise. It then sends the original and converted values to
001L) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-site/list}} or
001I) {{LDS Temple list‎/size-site/infobox}}
as appropriate. 001L gives the site area in acres and hectares and adds site, since this is in adjective form we don't have to worry about pluralisation. 001I gives the area in acres and hectares fully spelling the words acre(s) and hectare(s) out adding the s where appropriate by testing whether or not the given parameter is equal to 1.
And that's about it. Jɪmp 03:15, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Featured List of the Day Experiment edit

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 15:47, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for nominating a candidate at WP:LOTD. You may want to come by and address some of the feedback you have received before voting begins, which it will in less than 24 hours.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 00:28, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am surprised at the number of people who have nominated candidates and participated in feedback, but have not voted. If I had made voting mandatory, would it have kept you from nominating an article?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 17:11, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template:Paris Metropolitan Area: you can vote edit

Hi Trödel. I'm writting this message to let you know that User:ThePromenader is on the rampage again. This time he wants to delete the template showing communes in the metropolitan area of Paris. I don't know where this guy will stop to remove any notion of an agglomeration of Paris. He has single-handedly listed the template for deletion ([2]), completely disregarding the fact that several editors have contributed to this template and that he is the sole person asking for its deletion. He has created an entry at Templates for deletion: Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2007 November 20#Template:Paris Metropolitan Area. You can vote there to keep or delete the template. Last but not least he has already single-handedly removed the template from the 20 arrondissements of Paris, because according to him these arrondissements have nothing to do with the suburban communes: [3], [4], [5], etc. Complete denial of a Greater Paris, and that just when an administrative "Grand Paris" is going to be created by French authorities next year! Anyway, don't hesitate to take part in the vote. Hardouin (talk) 19:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mormonism and history merge proposal edit

Please weigh in on the merger proposal between History of the Latter Day Saint movement and Mormonism and history. I saw that you were a recent contributor of one of the pages in question, and thought you would be interested.--Descartes1979 (talk) 21:33, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trodel, I am curious with your vote. As I review the whole history of the article it's initial intent was to attack the use of "faith-promoting" stories in the LDS church at the expense of a rational, historical context. Personally I question the validity of such an article; faith promoting stories are used by every religion on the face of the earth. There is not one religion that does not promote faith promoting stories. Regardless, I am not sure that the history of the LDS movement can not include a short paragraph on this topic at the end. I think refrences can be provided that show the growth in historical research on Mormonism both within and outside of the respective churches involved. Do you really think the two could not be merged? --Storm Rider (talk) 20:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Changed your vote? I am definately against merging, primarily because placing the topic in History of the Latter Day Saint movement reduces it to a "one time" issue. The most recent pattern of "faith-promoting" history was (as a BYU trained historian, I sincerely hope) a one time event. But Mormonism and history is a much bigger topic, closer to historiography, having implications from Joseph's time to the present. I don't know if this is the right title for such an article, but we are having a restructuring discussion on the Mormonism and history page. Please drop in and give your two cents. Best wishes as always. WBardwin (talk) 03:22, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I really don't have time to examine the issue so I decided I'd better abstain. I know you guys will find a good solution without me :) --Trödel 03:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Intro protection edit

Hi. You probably know best, so: I'm wondering if we could fully-protect Wikipedia:Introduction 3 like page 2 is; and fully- or semi-protect the embedded templates on both those pages (Template:Please don't change this page and Template:Please don't edit this page). That 2nd template was vandalized for a couple of hours the other day. Thanks. -- Quiddity (talk) 19:45, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whatever you think is best. I do think you should semi-protect those 2 templates though, like Template:Introduction to Wikipedia is. (Or should I find and do the full-process-request-procedure thing? I assume it's faster to just bug an admin who knows the rules, and specifically one who knows the intro/tutorial well...) Thanks again. Infoboxes edit

I want to put a nicer looking infobox on Archbishop Demetrios of America, but im having trouble finding which one i should use. Grk1011 (talk) 14:44, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I saw what the color should have been according to the infobox page, but the only infobox available was for pope so i wasnt sure what to do. I'd suggest the new box be titled bishop maybe? then it could be used with other denominations as well and would include bishops, archbishops and metropolitan bishops. Just make sure you use a diff word than papacy. the only other word i can think of would be term. Grk1011 (talk) 15:10, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah - I only meant it for a temporary solution until I could create a new infobox. I created one at {{Infobox Greek Orthodox}} - if you think a better name should be used, then let me know. Also - the color scheme was never fully implemented so if there is a color that is associated with the Greek Orthodox church let me know and I'll update the template and the color schema - I'm not sure who put that together but it is a pretty good idea so I followed it. --Trödel 15:17, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
PS - I helped select the color for the Pope infobox and we picked a common color from the vatican website http://www.vatican.va/ --Trödel 15:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I just checked the official website of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate http://www.ec-patr.org/default.php?lang=en and sadly it seems to be the same color as the catholic. I'm going to post something on the Eastern Christanity wikiproject to see if anyone has any ideas. This infobox should be for orthodoxy in general, not just greek orthodoxy. So are all the colors up for taking except the underlined? Grk1011 (talk) 15:26, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Could you change it from archbishopric to something else like term. It makes it general enough to work for other positions such as a bishop or metropolitan bishop. Grk1011 (talk) 15:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes 2 edit

I'll do some of those changes as soon as I get to a real comp. Editing from this phone will cut off text. Yes - undelined ones are the only ones implemented - and I see no reason not to use different colors for different orthodox churches. Trödel 17:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

O sry, i didnt know you were on a phone, haha. Are you saying each branch of orthodoxy should have its own color? its the same church. Grk1011 (talk) 17:22, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
fyi the changes I made were on a reg comp but then I had to leave the office and am on my phone. changes by Trodel are from phone, by Trödel are normal.
I'm not sur how othodoxy churches work. I know there are different kind armenian, eastern, greek, etc. if the are all part of the same church then you're right the should have the same color and we should rename the infobox. Trödel 21:07, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Eastern Orthodox Church contains the greek, russian, bulgarian, romanian, etc. There are other orthodox churches such referred to as oriental orthodox churches which are similar but not part of the others. The ethnic name basically refers to the language that the service is in and where the local church is headquarted. I left a note on the wikiproject, we will search for a good color. Grk1011 (talk) 21:33, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I renamed the template to {{Infobox Orthodox leadership}} and used "term" since that is more generic - feel free to edit it for anything else you see. --Trödel 03:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Might it look better with a second bar of color such as in the album infobox seen here: 10 Hronia Mazi? Grk1011 (talk) 00:55, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think it would but I'm not sure what information we would include in the second band of color. --Trödel 01:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Maybe the title? Like in the top put say Ieronymos II and in the second put Archbishop of Athens. This would be for Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens. Grk1011 (talk) 01:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
How do you like the implementation? --Trödel 01:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nice, I think it balances the box. Sorry to be picky, but is there a way to make the color be slightly indented like the albums box? The color does not touch the sides of the box in it if you know what i mean. Grk1011 (talk) 01:50, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Grk1011 (talk) 01:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just when I thought everything was good to go, I saw a post for Template:Infobox bishopbiog. This infobox is not listed with the others where you can find the color code. I'd suggest that we add the religious career section to the new template. Any thoughts? Grk1011 (talk) 16:14, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry I did not get more involved with this sooner. template:Infobox bishopbiog is used for all bishops and archbishops except the bishop and archbishops of Rome, Canterbury, and York. It is used for Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Old Catholics, Continuing Anglicans and, yes - for lack of a better box - I started using it for Oriental Orthodox bishops. That doesn't mean you can't have a seperate box for any/all Eastern Orthodox bishops, but I would not reinvent the wheel here. The color of the existing bishop box is not a problem for me. The gold color on the nex box looks like the color already in use for saints, and that could be problematic. What about the existing box? Are there any fields on the existing box that are problematic? We could add or change the fields, too. Let me know what you think - we should also move this discussion to a more public place, perhaps Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eastern Orthodoxy. -- Secisek (talk) 18:31, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I couldn't agree more that the bishop box isn't good for LDS leaders. I also am glad you cleaned the "proposed" color page. Let's see what some other people think. --Secisek (talk) 13:09, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I clearly stated my reason - AFD:A7 - see #7 "no indication of why this hospital should be included." Additionally, as I stated, "other than being large I really don't seen the assertion of notability"
Perhaps you should edit the article and assert a reason that this hospital deserves on article on Wikipedia instead of hassling me on my talk page. If you had done so then I would be happy and the article would still be here - and, presumably, you'd be happy. However, I noticed you still have not asserted any reason that this article should be included. Thanks for help on moving pages re: Deseret News edit

Thanks, Trödel, for clearing up the issue of edit histories in my attempted re-redirection of Deseret Morning News back to Deseret News. Well done! Rangergordon (talk) 05:48, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

An apology edit

About all this date format messiness: I do want to say I'm sorry about the mess it's turned into. I wish I'd taken more time to understand how things worked before trying to change them. Thanks for being so patient in working to find a final solution. —Remember the dot (talk) 22:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for apology - we all jump in sometimes on Wikipedia to find things more difficult than we thought. --Trödel 22:14, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Temple Lot edit

By throwing the LDS template on Temple Lot you have implied ownership of the property which at least two other churches claim ownership (one of which actually owns it). In legal claims on the lot LDS is a distant third.Americasroof (talk) 21:04, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mexico fotos edit

Trödel, thanks for stopping by. Sorry I didn't respond quicker, but medicine is my weekly task at the es:wiki, a poorly developed and rather shattered project. On Sundays, as you understand, medicine gets put into the drawer and out comes the LDS project, which is also considerably small. I'm excited to hear you have photos of the temples in Mexico. I will start writing the articles of the 14 or so temples there, starting with the ones that already have a photo in the en:article. No sooner I find a problem or need for a better photo, I'll let you know. We'll be in touch. Un abrazo, Rjgalindo or Bobjgalindo (talk) 12:23, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Colonia Juárez and Monterrey Temples done in spanish, Hermosillo and Ciudad Juárez don´t have photos (actually there are no photos of the rest of the temples), do you have any? --Bobjgalindo (talk) 16:11, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for doing those articles. I don't have images for any temples in México other than those two - that was my original intent in going to the ES Wikpedia - I was hoping that someone out there would have or take pictures. México is our worst represented country for images - 75% of temples don't have images (or 9 of the 25 temples missing images are in México. --Trödel 01:06, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'll ask around other sources to see if I can get a hold of some photos. Take care, --Bobjgalindo (talk) 17:00, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thx --Trödel 22:55, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

ISO date template edit

didn't realize it made the date disappear for the Logan temple - I'll work on debugging it - you mention that a specific template for the conversion may be needed - I was hoping something more generic could be used. I'm not sure I understand why a generic conversion wouldn't work ----Trödel 21:13, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The date formatting for Template:LDS Temple compare follows a very specific algorithm:
  • If the date matches the format "1 February 2000", it is formatted as "2000-02-01".
  • If the date matches the format "February 2000", it is formatted as "2000-02".
  • If the date does not match either of these formats, it is displayed as entered. This means that if an editor makes a mistake when entering the date, at worst it will just show up in the wrong format instead of not showing up at all.
A generic date-formatting template is probably not going to produce exactly the same results. For one thing, I don't think that "2000-02" is considered "ISO format", strictly speaking. —Remember the dot (talk) 21:32, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
From what I've been reading lately some people don't feel that 2001-02-01 is strictly ISO format :) - anyway - It is a good sortable format. Did you get my email re bug 4582 --Trödel 21:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I believe I have it working as demonstrated at User:Trödel/Sandbox1 can you check on it and see if there are any changes needed --Trödel 23:25, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I saw your e-mail - To me, we are far from any technical intervention as far as date formatting, and any date formatting solution will have to have at minimum a way to opt-out. The lead developer himself is opposed to date autoformatting of any kind: [6].
Template:ISO date looks better now, but if a user enters a date in an unrecognized format then ISO date requires a parameter appears. Previously, the code fell back on displaying dates in unrecognzied formats as-is, rather than blowing up. The template at least needs a way to toggle between Draconian error handling that is appropriate for a general template and less strict error handling that is appropriate for Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is another reason why a more specific template is probably more appropriate for what we want to do here. —Remember the dot (talk) 23:45, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
See User:Trödel/Sandbox2 - It should only return the error if no parameter is passed, and pass through whatever is passed in unchanged if it doesn't recognize the date. --Trödel 00:40, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see. Looks good! —Remember the dot (talk) 01:30, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I made a structural change - to handle the exceptions month year, year only and then let the #time handle all the rest - what do you think. --Trödel 03:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
{{ISO date|1863}} = 1863-11-12. That's really not acceptable...I'm confused as to what these lines are supposed to do:
         else if formatted YYYY
         -->{{ #ifeq: {{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}} |{{ #time: Y-m | {{{1|<noinclude>15 January 2001</noinclude>}}} | local }}|<!--
            then -->
Why are you using {{CURRENTMONTH}} and {{CURRENTYEAR}}? —Remember the dot (talk) 19:55, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, what weird stuff was happening? How do you know that it was caused by Template:Sort and not, say, server lag? —Remember the dot (talk) 20:01, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
#time interprets a 4 digit number alone as a time value rather than a date, but it assumes that it is the current date at that time - i.e. #time:0530 returns 0530-05-19 12:00, so while I was trying to figure out a better way to know whether or not it is a year only, I decided to test on whether a current date is being past - if it is then we know it is likely just a time - with todays date. I guess I should add -{{CURRENTDAY}}. Do you have a better suggestion on how we can test on year only. --Trödel 20:04, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I thought it might be server lag but it was happening (sorting with dates after 1910 first (but in correct order) even when I used the "action=purge" parameter - which I thought prevented you from seeing server lag issues. --Trödel 20:06, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
It looks like you can just throw an arbitrary time into #time to prompt #time to interpret the year as a year. For example: {{#time:Y|0:00 2005|local}} = 2005
About purging the cache: With a template system this large, I've noticed that I've had to purge the cache as much as two or three times before the page completely purges. But I could be wrong - I don't remember if I was just refreshing it those first couple of times or actually purging. —Remember the dot (talk) 20:37, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good idea on passing a time plus the year to get the year out - if you haven't already implemented it I'll go do so. Hmmm the cache could be it then especially since we are using embedded templates in embedded templates :) - do you think we should call sort or just leave it as it is? --Trödel 20:44, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome! I'll leave the actual implementation up to you since you understand how Template:ISO date works better than me. I would definitely call Template:Sort from Template:LDS Temple compare to keep the code simpler and avoid problems if Template:Sort ever changes. —Remember the dot (talk) 20:51, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Peter Tobin edit

Thanks for the query; I have answered it (so far as I can without creating further problems!) on the article's talkpage. --AlisonW (talk) 22:20, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note from a obsessed copyeditor :-) edit

Image:Mirror_Defeat_Logo_Trodel.PNG: it's not a outdated mirror, it's an outdated mirror :-). And yes, I'm obviously a very silly person. --SB_Johnny | talk 20:55, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

LOL - I don't know if I'll fix it - but thx --Trödel 22:56, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
