Welcome!

Hello, Tony Papard, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Kukini 16:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tony. I moved your article User pages/Tony Papard to your user page at User:Tony Papard as it seems that's where you intended it to belong. Tonywalton  | Talk 17:38, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi

edit

Well, to take your last points first, you sign something by adding either ~~~ or ~~~~ at the end. This expands to something like Tonywalton  | Talk or Tonywalton  | Talk 18:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC) (naturally yours will look different!) Notice that the "four tildes" version adds the time and date. It's conventional to sign entries on talk pages (like this one) and on things like votes. You don't sign articles, though. "UTC" is the timezone I'm in; most people call it GMT but UTC is an offical name.Reply

You mention "profiles". This is not the same as your userpage. Your profile (aka your preferences) has things in it like what timezone you're in, whether you allow people to email you and so on. It's also where you set up fancy-schmancy signatures like "Tonywalton  | Talk" :-)

You edit it with the "my preferences" tab at the top there, between "my talk" and "my watchlist". Your userpage is a fairly free-form description of you as you want others to see you; there are recommendations as to what goes on there; see WP:UP for what your userpage is all about but people tend to get away with quite a lot as long as it's related to wikipedian activities and isn't offensive. You access it by clicking on your username up at the top there (to the left of "my talk" and edit it just like you would any other page. Going to other peoples' userpages and pinching bits of wiki markup for your own is a very good way to start your own.

Hope that helps; if you need anything else give me a shout! Tonywalton  | Talk 18:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for updating the Killer Page

Thank you for adding the UK pop chart numbers to the Jerry Lee Lewis page. I was hoping someone would do that. Have you seen the new Jerry Lee Lewis three CD set that contains some recordings made when he was sixteen in 1951? TuckerResearch 16:27, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
