Thanks for invitation. I have one question. I have data for chemicals as solubility or density available for temperature 20 °C, but in chembox is standard as of 25 °C. Is that OK to omit this temperature or should I still add a note about it? Tomaxer 12:20, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Although the difference in solubity and density at 20 vs 25 is not going to be significant, it would be best to just note the deviation from standard temp. For a density, just enter something like "1.043 g/cm³ at 20 °C" - there's an example at Butyl_butyrate. --Ed (Edgar181) 14:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Iduronic acid

Hi Tomaxer, thanks for your addition of an image to the iduronic acid article. Do you think you could draw iduronic acid in the cyclic form? This might be a more representative image. The acyclic form you've drawn and the cyclic form are in equilibrium in solution but as with glucose the cyclic form predominates. The heparin article contains a picture of a cyclic IdoA monosaccharide (see the IdoA-GlcNS or IdoA-GlcNS(6S) pictures). I'm sure you can copy the IdoA part and improve on it!! So I've uploaded an image Image:IduronicAcid-chair.png with chair conformation projection of iduronic acid. However, I'm not very familiar with projections of sugars, so I'm not sure, if that structure is drawn correctly. If it is not, please say, what should I repair. Tomaxer 21:19, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Its nearly correct, although at the momment you've drawn glucose. Iduronic acid has a carboxyl group (COOH) at carbon ring position 6. Have a look at the cyclic structure shown in the glucuronic acid article. In glucuronic acid, the COOH group is attached to a carbon (carbon 5) thats also attached to a hydrogen. To turn glucuronic acid into iduronic acid swap the positioning of the COOH group and the hydrogen about carbon 5. Glucuronic acid and iduronic acid are epimers. K.murphy 15:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

So, I've changed that image. I replaced CH₂OH group by COOH group. I forget it when I was doing that image. I hope it is OK now, because I've got a bit unsure when you mentioned position swapping of the glucuronic acid. And is that image of the acyclic form useful? Tomaxer 17:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I was trying really hard not to confuse you, but it looks like I did it anyway!! sorry. Your change has altered glucose to glucuronic acid. At the momment the bond to the COOH is pointing upwards, you need to alter it so its pointing downwards. Personally I don't think the acyclic form is useful but its not doing any harm K.murphy 20:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, finally I did it with your help. That ACD/Chemsketch is a good tool, I think. Working in it is in the main intuitive. If you have some questions about it, you can ask, possibly I could help you with beginning. I've learned working in it myself and some useful things are e.g. F5 (template window), Ctrl+Shift+I (IUPAC name), Tools→Generate menu, holding shift while drawing ("nice" angles, lengths). Bromoform

I notice you are contributing a lot to haloalkane articles. May I ask where you got the information about the synthesis of bromoform with electrolysis? --Russoc4 16:58, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I found this information in book Small technical encyclopedia (translated), however, this book is from 1959, so it can be not commonly used method of preparation. But if you think, it is incorrect, feel free to remove it. But I did, a long time ago, electrolysis of potassium iodide in alcoholic solution and as far as I remember, there was produced iodoform, so it may be an analogy. However, I don't have strong theoretical chemistry knowledge, so it may be wrong. Tomaxer 17:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, I know the haloform reaction is the theoretical method, and I myself was investigating possibilities of producing bromine or hypobromite with electrolysis. My guess is that that method would work. I was just curious to know if you have ever been able to produce the compound. Do you have and ISBN of that book? So, I've found out, that this book has no ISBN, since they started to be assigned in 1966. But it is Andrlík K., Dobrovolný B., Hoch A. A. Malý technický náučný slovník. SNTL (Státní nakladatelství technické literatury = Publishers of Technical Literature), Prague, 1959. I have scanned article about bromoform there and placed it here with translation here. And I don't remember if I have tried to produce it, but I relied on that information in this book. I can try to examine that method. Tomaxer 11:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

    • OK, it says there that you're not an admin, and the crux of a simple history merge is

1. "deleting" the page at the intended final title,
2. renaming the other page to that title and "deleting" that page (again!
3. "undeleting" the page that both deletions were done on,

all three of which require admin status.
You may not want to bother to understand this part: I use the quotation marks above bcz what "delete a page" means is "hide all the revisions of the page from non-admins, by marking each of them as 'deleted'", and you can guess from that what "undeleted" means. And the design, perhaps intentionally, is such that

1. you can only change a revision's page-name along with all the other revisions of that page (deleted or not), while at least one revision is undeleted,
2. deletion applies to all revisions, but undeletion is selective: undelete all of the page's revisions, or the specifically specified ones, or all but the specifically specified ones, and
3. the "revision" attributed to its editor is the whole page that results, not the part that they changed; this is most significant in the context of merging or splitting a page, which often results in some revisions having "last" diffs shown in the resulting history that don't correspond to the changes that that editor made. This is why i do what i did on Talk:Lucius Valerius Flaccus. (FWIW, i took an interest in LVF, Gaius Iulius Iullus (disambiguation), and Marius bcz they are alphabetized in the I-M part of the alphabet and at least pretended to be Dabs, rather than for the glory of Rome!)

My suggestion is this: The merging of the content and the merging of the edit-history, of two (or more) pages, are separate processes. Why don't you edit up the new version, on the page that will end up as a Rdr to the merged page? If you want to do what i did on T:LVF, perhaps as a learning exercise, go ahead with saving the pre-merge images of the histories -- tho by now, i can do it faster (especially using the pop-up tools and something else whose name i can't recall, which gives me a magnifying-glass button and a "cC" button just above the upper left corner of my page-editing pane). I would step in upon your request at that point, and do the history merge per se. You could follow up with the post-merge history image, if you chose, and review to be sure everything in the final result has turned out as you expected, or tweak accordingly.

So let me know if i've finally scared you off, or we can discuss further.

Hi. I first thought about putting them into the section about MeI as an alkylating agent, but I didn't quickly come up with a way to put them there. Putting that back into the see also section could be a solution, although in my opinion not the best one. Do you have some better idea how to incorporate it in the article (perhaps in the MeI as a methylating agent section)? But if you think that it was good the way it was, feel free to put it back. Active-Stative Languages

I have reviewed the Active-stative page more carefully and I see that the formatting you prefer has serious problems, but my undoing of your edit did not really improve anything overall. So I apologise for not catching this earlier, however vandalism was not the intent. I had thought the information on Caucasian languages had disappeared. I see instead they have been subordinated under the headline "Siberia", which is of course incorrect, since the Caucasus are some thousands of miles away. On top of this, your current formatting has some languages entered multiple times, and the other main heading has to do with Amerindian languages, under which somehow we find Tibetan. So the whole thing needs reformatting. Hi there, I am trying to figure out the reasoning for your adding a list of journal references to methylene iodide]]. I am sure that the gesture is well intentioned, but my understanding is that Wikipedia has no aspirations of competing with Chemical Reviews and other specialized review journals. Adding links to IMSLP

Hello Tomaxer, Could I ask you to please wait until works are actually (a) added for new composers and (b) approved by the copyright review team before adding links on biography pages to IMSLP? In the case of, say, Todor Skalovski, we have no idea whether or not anything would even have been uploaded, let alone permitted. Oh, hello. I must admit I am not acquainted with the internal IMSLP workings and in this case I also must have missed that there were no works by him so thank you for dropping a note and explaining. Moreover regarding these interlinking edits, I plan to start checking links between Wikipedia and IMSLP in near future (as I've done once but only on the Wikipedia side) and I'd like to ask you if you have some suggestions or even whether I should do it. It's a good idea, but keep in mind that recently, all of the composer categories were manually checked (to add nationality) by myself and P.davydov. I made sure that all of the biography links given worked; I'd assume that he checked them out as well, so if I were you I wouldn't worry about it.
As for the 'internal workings', it really isn't a big deal- just see if the category has any pages in it. If there is one, check it to see if there are any files on it that do not have [B] next to the download links. I see you did some work on Fermoselle. I'm afraid that someone who got in there before you dumped what appears to be a big copyvio into the article, so I've had to revert it way back to a stub. I had a look at that article but it states that it uses Wikipedia as its source. So it looks like that the Wikipedia article could have been the first one. However, regarding the revert, the contents of the article and its (none) sources, it was probably a good idea from the strict point of view. And finally, I stumbled upon this article then only accidentally, I usually don't edit geography-related articles, so I'm probably not the one who should build this article. I am curious, why did you remove the changes I edited to the affair of with the Boston police after he created an arrangement that was considered unlawful? Stravinsky was not arrested, but the arrangement itself was confiscated, and the national symphony orchestra was asked not to perform the piece. I reverted the two edits you made because it made that paragraph look unencyclopedic, you didn't provide any explanation for this edit and also you removed references to that section. I tried to investigate this a bit today but the only mentions about this incident found by Google supported the original version (e.g. http://www.bostonsecession.org/page.cfm?pageid=5819). Don't worry about that too much, everyone was a beginner once. I'll try to explain those issues to you. The most problematic was probably the quote you provided. Without being sourced, that passage sounded too narrative. You also introduced a few grammatical problems, I think (however, I'm not native English speaker, so I may be wrong about some): "his request by the Boston police", "to not again perform". Also, in my opinion, you introduced too much details by mentioning Capt. Harvey's name (it is usually discouraged to be too specific; see WP:IINFO). Regarding the sources, you can find some information about "sourcing theory" here and how should citations look like here. Hello, I tried to look that information up, but unfortunately I was unable to find it. And since the biography link to a booklet is dead, I suspect that I've got the information from there. After some searching on the Internet I couldn't find a mention about it (also I can't read French), so if you believe it's wrong, feel free to delete it. Can't find any references for this except for the original description, including in my old textbook and in GBooks. This may not have become widely-used and may not meet WP:GNG.

DumZiBoT added the name "Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis" on 11 February 2008. I do not find the information that the citation should support in the version of the named source at [http://pubman.mpdl.mpg.de/pubman/item/escidoc:995493/component/escidoc:995492/WG1_TAR-FRONT.pdf].
