CMG

edit

I'm sure the CMG is a great group, but we need to follow this encyclopedia's guidelines in the article about it. I urge you to give a careful read to Wikipedia:Verifiability. Everything in an article should be verifiable from reliable sources. Second, it's probably not appropriate to add links to the CMG article to every mountain the group has ever climbed, or to every climbing technique they've used. For a comparison, you might see how articles on similar groups are written and linked to. Feel free to drop me a note on my talk page if you have any questions. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you want to change your username, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username. Moving your page, as you did, has the effect of divorcing your name from your contributions, and is not the right way. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:48, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Editing tags

edit

An editor saw some problems with the CMG article and posted editing tags to flag them. The tags point to two valid concerns: that the article doesn't have secondary sources and that there is no assertion of notability. The two issues are really the same. If a group has been profiled, or mentioned repeatedly, in reliable sources then it's considered to be notable. If it hasn't then it's harder to show why the group is notable enough for an encyclopedia article. You may notice that there are many climbing clubs with no article at all, even groups that are older or larger than the CMG. That's because few clubs of any kind meet the notability standards. For more information see WP:ORG and WP:V, both of which are relevant. What I suggest are finding references to the CMG in local newspapers or climbing magazines. Let me know if you have any questions. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 00:47, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD

edit

As reviewing admin, rather than delete it by speedy Delete , I've sent your article on the journal for discussion at WP:AFD --you may want to join the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Journal of MountaineeringDGG (talk) 20:28, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The file File:California Mountaineering Group Logo Alpine Climbing.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused watermarked photo, can't crop to remove, no point keeping.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 14:32, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
