Vána the Ever-young moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Vána the Ever-young, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page.  I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  (talk to me) (My edits) @ 21:10, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries

edit

Please make sure that your edit summaries accurately reflect what your edits do. For example, in a number of cases you have used edit summaries such as "Added content", and "I added content", "I added a section" for edits which did not, in fact, add anything, and in some cases only removed content. Proposed deletion of Boffin of the Yale

edit

The article Boffin of the Yale has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Insourced, and no evidence that this topic is notable, or that it has any significant coverage anywhere other than the book in which it appears. (Incidentally also a complete mess: a seriously misformatted article, apparently not proof-read by its creator.)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of hobbit families, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pippin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:53, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your edit to Template:Half-elven family tree

I'm probably being dense, but I don't see the point of this edit: [1] The previous version, with the line centered on the box, looks better. -- Elphion (talk) 20:14, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that in this edit to House of Isildur, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:15, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries (2)

edit

I see that since I wrote to you asking you not to use misleading edit summaries, you have stopped using edit summaries at all. I suppose that is a little better than using misleading ones, but it is still not good. Please start giving edit summaries which accurately indicate what your edits are doing. You may find it helpful to read the section of the page Help:Edit summary which is headed Always provide an edit summary. Family Trees

edit

You should develop your family trees in a private page (like your Sandbox), and copy them to the appropriate public pages only when you've finished them. -- Elphion (talk) 21:02, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I see that you're doing that for the Family of Beor; can you at least comment out the unfinished trees you've left behind? -- Elphion (talk) 21:05, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've moved several of your trees from articles to your sandbox. Please be sure they're ready for prime time before adding them to articles. Also, I removed the tree from Voronwë, as he is not clearly related to that tree at all. -- Elphion (talk) 15:17, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Bracegirdles of Harbottle

edit

The article Bracegirdles of Harbottle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable fictional characters. No significant coverage in reliable, unaffiliated sources. Better suited for a fan website/wikia.

--Animalparty! Hello! I just wanted to comment here to explain the above. I appreciate the time that went into the excellent family trees in Boffin of the Yale. Unfortunately, the way you've written the article is not how we cover topics here at Wikipedia. Fictional characters are written about from the perspective of our actual universe, not the universe the characters live in. For examples, see other fictional charcater pages like Harry Potter (character) or Peter Griffin. The type of writing you've done here is very well-suited to in-universe fan wikis like this one. I see several of the articles you've created have been deleted. I'm sorry to see that; I'm sure that's frustrating. But if you keep creating articles in a manner inconsistent with how we do things here, that's going to continue to happen. Not all topics have articles on Wikipedia. The way we decide whether a topic ought to have an article is based on whether it meets the criteria at WP:NOTABILITY. In particular, we're looking for sources independent of the topic. In this case, the writings of Tolkien are not independent of the topic of the Boffin family. If you have questions or concerns about this, feel free to ask here, or at WP:TEAHOUSE. Also you're welcome to paricipate in the deletion discussion for Boffin of the Yale at the link above. I hope you're able/willing to stick around and contribute positively to the encyclopedia. Happy editing! Ajpolino (talk) 21:34, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
