Sphinx

I've reverted you. Sorry, but I don't think that changes such as "(a) sphinx(es)" improved the article. Also, not mentioned in your edit summary, you made some era changes, changing BCE to BC and CE to AD, leaving some as BCE. That's against our guideline at WP:ERA. Such changes would need to have gained consensus at the talk page. I wouldn't expect you to know this of course, but as you know about edit summaries, you should have mentioned that you did it.
