You are repeatedly uploading and linking copyrighted images from other web sites. Do not do that. See WP:IUP for what is allowable for images here. —David Eppstein (talk) 05:00, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The photo is from a Educational Institution, where I found no copy write issues. Please verify the copy write concern. As clearly I do not understand. The web site is http://www.baldwinschool.org/page.cfm?p=1128 which was referenced in the biblopgraphy.
Everything on the web should be assumed to be copyrighted unless it explicitly says not or under certain very specific circumstances (works created by the federal government or before 1929). Being on the web or at an educational institution is not one of those circumstances. —David Eppstein (talk) 07:45, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
David and Chris (below) are correct. In order to use an image it needs to be explicitly released under a free license. The image on the page you're linking too has no copyright information at all. Without explicit information to the contrary, we have to assume that the image isn't free to use. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:06, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deletion discussion about Helen Morningstar

edit

Hello, Tjwigmor,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Helen Morningstar should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Helen Morningstar .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Hello Meatsgains

I have received your comments with regards to the discussion of whether Helen Morningstar should have her wikipedia page deleted. I am a student in Geology at the University of Calgary and as one of our assignments we are asked to add to a Women in Geology wikipedia page. I have chosen Helen and have been working on research of reputable sources to add to her page. The assignment in not due until the end of the November, therefore it is a work in progress for this month. Below are a few of the current sources to create her page for Wikipedia review. I would hope that you will not delete this page and allow The University of Calgary, Geology department/student time to complete a the work for Helen Morningstar's Wikipedia Page before a decision to delete is made. Below is what has been acquired currently:

1. Geological Survey of Ohio, University of Michigan, "Pottsville Fauna of Ohio", Author: Helen Morningstar, Ph.d, retrvied from University of Calgary Library, Online publication : Hathi Trust Digital Library. url: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015000705403;view=1up;seq=1

2. "Annual report of the Ohio Academy of science 1952", Ohio State University, The Ohio Journal of Science, Vol 52, Issue 4, page 229-238. Retrieved from University of Calgary. url: https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/bitstream/handle/1811/3954/v52n04_229.pdf?sequence=1

3. "Catalogue of type fossils in the geological museum at the Ohio State University," Author: Helen Morningstar, Department of Geology, The Ohio Journal of Science Vol. XXIV, No. 1, retrieved from https://ortongeologicalmuseum.osu.edu/sites/ortongeologicalmuseum.osu.edu/files/Catalogue_Type_Fossils_GEO_MUSEUM_OSU.pdf

4. "Historic nomenclature of lower pennsylvanian stratigraphy in Ohio," Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey, Author Thomas J. Serenko, Chief, retrieved from https://geosurvey.ohiodnr.gov/portals/geosurvey/PDFs/OpenFileReports/OFR_2015-2.pdf

It is no guarantee that all resources above will be used. We are still continuing to develop and research information regarding Helen Morningstar. I hope that the page is not deleted and Wikipedia allows me to finish it over the next month for their review. If you choose to delete, I would ask that you advise me as soon as possible as I will have to start the project over again using a different women in geology. Let know know if you require more information.

Thanks,

Suggestions for another article

edit

It is unfortunate you chose a non-notable subject. I can only assume Ian (Wiki Ed) warned your class about our notability requirements. Since you need to find a new subject, I recommend looking at this list of geologists elected to the National Academy of Sciences as well as these winners of the G. K. Warren Prize as well as these winners of the Mary Clark Thompson Medal. The articles about each award could use work, too. If your instructor allows, they might be better goals. We also have Wikipedia:Requested articles/Natural sciences/Environment and geology, which lists articles in the field other editors have requested. Not all of those might be suitable, so be sure to check for notability before investing time going down the wrong path. I know what that feels like because I did the same thing working for University of California, Riverside, and I'm sorry you put time into it not realizing what our requirements were. Please share these suggestions with your class if they're also stuck looking for a good article to write. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:49, 4 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
