Sharks edit

Hi there, saw that your a Sharks fan. I was just thinking about doing a big update to the page, would you be interested in working on it so it can be as good as the Crusaders one? Goldman07 09:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

- Yes I would be keen. In fact our target should be to make it even better than the Crusaders one. I suppose our initial target should be the Sharks (Super rugby franchise) article. Then we can look at the the Natal Sharks article. We also need to look at the player articles as they will be linked to from the main article. What I did plan to do is work on player articles for the entire Super 14 squad. I have obtained copyright permission to use the pen pictures on Wikipedia. I have only uploaded John Smit so far. I would be most happy to share the squad with yourself and other collaborators. This is a big exercise and could use even more collaborators.

We could even look at approaching the franchise to get some history, biographical information and photos --Tiucsib 09:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Firefox/Vista edit

I use firefoxwith XPSP2 and it works fine so ther must be a problem with Windows Vista and its best if you ask Wikipedia: Village pump (technical) and maybe somebody there might be able to solve your problem..--Cometstyles 11:47, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK thanks so between us we have narrowed it down to a problem with the Firefox/Vista combination. At least we have figured it out and neither of us is blind nor stupid. I will report it as you suggest. --Tiucsib 11:50, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Now I am confused.
I went back to Firefox after using IE and it is all sorted out

Re edit

Hey great work Tiucsib. I'm not sure where to find those records, perhaps they French Wikipedia may have them, they are usually pretty good with that kind of stuff, but maybe not. Not sure. We need to try and do sections on colours/logo/jersey, franchise area and expand the stadium info as well. Keep up the good work. Goldman07 13:44, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

6000 Edits edit

I dont think you have 6000 Edits as you have mentioned on your userpage and Iam wondering if you took that off my userpage and in case you are wondering about how much edits you 'actually' have..this is the link..Cheers..--Cometstyles 14:50, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Quite right I don't have 6,000 edits.
I am new to this and was trying to work out how to do via a trial and error method.
And yes I did use your page as a baseline
I planned to fix it and then ran out of time
Thanks for the tip --Tiucsib 15:34, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

Did you manage to get a bunch of pictures released under GDFL? If so have they been uploaded? - Shudda talk 23:54, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes I did get them released under GFDL.
I have only uploaded 2 of them so far.
They are AJ Venter and John Smit
I have about 30 Sharks Super 14 pen pictures that I can use and I think I can get the Sharks Currie Cup squad as well. This will be a few more players. We have a long week-end in SA so I plan to upload the rest this week-end
Cheers

Images again edit

Hey, I'm not sure whether or not you have read this, but have you seen Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission? Especially the section on When permission is confirmed? Anyway if you have not then you should read it and follow the instructions so people can't delete those pen photo shots you have of the Sharks squad. I've only needed to do it once (for Image:WaisaleSerevi.jpg) and it was confusing, but hopefully you can figure it out! Anyway good luck. - Shudda talk 10:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Shudda. I actually did half the job. I read the bit and I asked for permission. I did not read the bit about what to do when permission was granted. I see I need to send an email to a committee. I will do as you advise. Thanks Tiucsib 15:15, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SharksRugbyClubLogo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SharksRugbyClubLogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa edit

Hello,

I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

File permission problem with File:John Smit 2007 med.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:John Smit 2007 med.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Redsky89 (talk) 05:31, 4 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
