Solid Snake personality edit

Hi.

I`ve been following closely the makeover you have done over the Metal Gear articles, certainly you have quite the credentials, but the personality section you just "clean up a little" well... i agree it may be somewhat long, it took me some time after all but the way it stands now only covers MGS1, that is severely incomplete, Solid Snake is a memorable character, and he changes over the games besides shouldn`t the personality of the character be quite important in an article about the character?

I don`t want to sound as if i`m only saying this because i created the section is only that it feels incomplete, i went over the three games and every single one offer something about him. Zidane tribal (talk) 23:04, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Parts of section such as "Solid Snake is a memorable character" are the reason why the section is tagged with original research character and uses thesis based on multiple quotes. Not every change about Snake should be noted (for some reason MG and MG2 were never there, but I'm not questioning it), just his main traits. An example to follow would be Lara Croft which describes the characters' overall personality rather than every game.Tintor2 (talk) 00:29, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree i sound kinda "romantic" over Snake, i suppose some things are more encyclopedic than others, all i`m saying is that..... Well after re-reading i guess it says most of what Snake is, i just felt that he evolved a lot over time and somehow it was left out in the edit. Zidane tribal (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Should other notable traits that appear in Snake's character, they could be added.Tintor2 (talk) 18:07, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Arcanas edit

They're on all of the other Persona pages. In your opinion they may not have an impact on the game, but it can be reliably sourced to the game, to the game's accompanying print materials, etc. Please leave it there. I am also incorporating content regarding the Arcana in the anime, as they represent the multitude of Personas that Narukami has access to.—Ryulong (竜龙) 21:12, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

We already had the same discussion months ago if you remember at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Archive 91#Persona 4's arcana and no sources could be used to make them significant to the characters.Tintor2 (talk) 22:41, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Did you have to remove the World one?—Ryulong (竜龙) 17:00, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The reference did not say what it was Izanagi-no-Okami's arcana, just mentioned what does the world arcana mean. There are a lots of comments in the game about the player creating a "world" in the game, but it turns out to be original form of the TV world that Igor invites the protagonist to see.Tintor2 (talk) 19:49, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The word "world" is emphasized, and the identification as Izanagi-no-Okami as a World Arcana Persona has to have been mentioned somewhere in the game, like in this screen.—Ryulong (竜龙) 20:57, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
He is identified in the 2nd playthrough but it's the same with all Personas' arcanas who are never mentioned in dialogue. They only refer to them by their names.Tintor2 (talk) 21:06, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Stop reverting indiscriminately, please edit

Regarding a table, do you really except someone to read all the related articles and make their own notes to see who is where through the series? It was a very good addition by someone, and it's like that in other articles so it's not a precedent. --Niemti (talk) 21:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I already explained my reasons. Just see other franchises articles that don't waste 8 kylobites explaining characters.Tintor2 (talk) 21:21, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's not any "waste". And bolding out things to make them more visible is used liberally in Wikipedia even when it's not even about titles at all, for example see Tifa Lockhart#References and it's a good article. --Niemti (talk) 21:25, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Eight kylobites of unsourced information just sounds like WP:Undue weight considering there are less confusing ways to explain characters' appearances just like other franchises articles like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. The example you mentioned does not make abuse of bolding and it's just quotes that a reader needs to see who is the character speaking.Tintor2 (talk) 21:28, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
And as I said, your idea of forcing the people to read everything and memorise it all / make notes to comprehend the roster is not an option, because no one in their mind is going to to do it if they don't know the rosters already from just playing all the games (I do, but most people on Earth just don't). Also I don't even want to show you the other articles where there are roster tables, because I'm afraid you'd start deleting these too, but it's really not a precedent being made here. In any case, regarding "wasting", this article is well into reasonable limit: Wikipedia:Article size, not to mention a table is something else than plain text and shouldn't even really count. And about bolding it's just the titles in the series (and titles should be bolded) that a reader needs to see because there are a lot of other links that are distracting (such as to Street Fighter). Also I did a lot of OTHER edits too, completely different and unrelated to these 2 issues. --Niemti (talk) 21:36, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

But I might show you these other articles featuring rosters if you promise to not mess with them. OK? Anyway just please stop reverting each-other like that (I manually re-added your most recent edits, so don't worry about it). --Niemti (talk) 21:58, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Even all the individual articles have that table. Why repeat it? Why does Tekken's table lack other games? The articles to follow are GAs and FAs not any stub article that requires clean up.Tintor2 (talk) 13:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

What's the problem of having it on the page? It's very useful for people to quickly know the availability of the characters. Magegg (talk) 05:56, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Naruto Chapters edit

Shouldn't a link to 'List of Naruto Chapters' be included in Naruto article? If a reader wants to find the Naruto article (without knowing that it exists), he must go to List os Manga Volumes then to the List of Chapters again. That's a lot of linking. Wouldn't it make more sense to include the link to the chapters in the main Naruto article? The chapters are directly related to the article.

Another question, is there a reason why the contributors split List of Naruto Chapters and List of Manga Volumes into two seperate articles? Too long? The Volume List section in 'List of Naruto manga volumes' contains titles, ISBNs, and release dates. All of which are included in 'List of Naruto chapters.' The duplication is obvious. Shouldn't we merge? I assume they're two featured articles we're talking about here, and a lot of ppl will hate to see one of them go, but I think you can see why. I'm just one man, though. I haven't worked on these Naruto-related articles before, so I would like to ask what you think.

Oh, and BTW, I'm not sure if you personally like me, but I ask you because you're the only contributor I know who works on Naruto articles. It's not a way of criticizing your work. You're a way better contributor than I am.

And I'm fixing language problems I see in some articles. If it wreck meaning, feel free do change my wording. Anthonydraco (talk) 14:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I still wasn't contributing to wikipedia the list was splitted but I'm pretty sure that merging them would result in over 100 kylobites so it's better to keep them separated (similar to seasons from an episode list). There is no ownership in wikipedia so feel free to edit the articles. It's just that previous recurring users like Snapper2, AnmaFinotera and Sephiroth Bcr have stopped editing. Persona 4 character list edit

Why exactly did you gut the article of anything mentioning the Social Link arcanae? I see nothing in the peer review other than your sudden intent to remove it despite the compromise I thought we came to previously.—Ryulong (琉竜) 17:20, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

There was a big discussion that took like a month by multiple editors involving excessive in-universe information in the peer review and nobody disagreed with that. In fact, I seeked their opinion to get more objective opinions since there were some who did not play the game. I also put the notice in the project. You are not helping at all to clean up the article by just adding jargon and minor characters (already mentioned in that peer review to help the list). However, I'm not interested now in editing the article due nowadays and massive reverts without discussions and a really old argument don't really help to motivate me. So feel free to add more undue weight and ignore recommendations. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 01:54, 22 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Do you want to work on Rebuild of Evangelion articles together? edit

Tintor, I've noticed that you did some edits on Evangelion 1.0, so I assume that you've seen it? Would you like to work on the articles Evangelion 1.0 and 2.0 with me? I've noticed that both articles have no people who are interested in them. And it would be good for the articles to have an experience editor like you to improve the article. I am aware that you have no reason to want to work with me, due to the unpleasant experience I've caused in the past, but I would like to assure you that I am not the editor I once was. You are much more experienced now, and even though I am not as good as you are, I can promise you that working with me will be more pleasant than our past experience together. Would you like to improve the article with me? Anthonydraco (talk) 14:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I would like but I haven't been unable to find anything to add to the articles. I've heard of how the lighter stories reflect Anno's state in comparison to the TV series as well as how Evangelion 2.0 was going to have a darker ending with Rei dying but couldn't find the original sources. Should I find anything else that would work, I'll add it. In the meantime, the lead could be expanded to cover most of the article's section to at least paragraphs. For example:

"The plot focuses on a young teenager named Shinji Ikari who is requested to pilot a mecha known as the Evangelion Unit 01 to protect the world from creatures known as Angels" or for 2.0 "the film continues focusing on the Shinji Ikari's work in the organization NERV that is fighting beings known as Angels".

Summer Wars could serve as a model to the articles in general. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 17:15, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. That's what I planned to add. You're right about the lead section. I should have added that one. It feels wasted, though. But if I'm going to do it alone, and it has no chance to be a GA, I can't see why adding a few more sentences would make much difference. :P Anthonydraco (talk) 04:24, 5 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I've added your suggested sentences to their respective articles. Though I feel that it was you who should've done the honor by adding them, since it was you who came up with them. Thank you again for the suggestion. If you feel that I took your credit, feel free to revert those and put them in yourself, as you deserve the honor. Wakka (Final Fantasy) edit

Hi i noticed that you reverted the creation of an article in the page patterned with other character pages. Instead of removing, you might have had as well helped in making the page more credible just like the ones that are currently existing. I removed sections I know I cant provide sources as this would be unfair. And as we all know most editors don't want to build an article from scratch so I did the initial page content yet I know it could do better. So instead please just make more edits than deleting it because if not then I propose removing the other characters pages also as they followed the same format during creation even lesser. JeromesandilanicoJSD (talk) 13:22, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Then how come Lulu (Final Fantasy) is allowed while the article I created was not if the article I did was heavily patterned towards it? Then Lulu (Final Fantasy) must be deleted too. JeromesandilanicoJSD (talk) 14:41, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:SaintSeiyaOmegafirstDVD.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:SaintSeiyaOmegafirstDVD.jpg. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

Saint Seiya Omega episode lists edit

How come you deleted the infoboxes when you added the references?—Ryulong (琉竜) 05:10, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Because it's an episode list like List of Persona 4: The Animation episodes. The infobox already exists in Saint Seiya Omega.Tintor2 (talk) 13:54, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, but these were the "season" infoboxes because these are two separate seasons.—Ryulong (琉竜) 15:12, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
So? Why repeat the infoboxes for something that is already explained in the lead of every article? What anime FL uses an infobox? The latest model, List of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion episodes, has none.Tintor2 (talk) 16:23, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
This is just something done on all seasonal episode lists. I don't know why it hasn't caught on with the anime articles. I know the Pokémon episode lists all have it.—Ryulong (琉竜) 16:36, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes but why have them? Not all of seasonal lists have them and the Pokemon lists are far from being a models to follow unlike all the FLs.Tintor2 (talk) 17:35, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Also, the consistent naming scheme for seasons is just "Show name (season #)", eg. CSI: Miami (season 2).—Ryulong (琉竜) 18:29, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Not really. The project is using "list of (season #)." See List of Bleach episodes (season 1), List of D.Gray-man episodes (season 1). That's something to discuss in the project.Tintor2 (talk) 18:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Some of your old GAs could use a bit of citation cleanup edit

Hey. Just wanted to let you know that there are sourcing errors in Naruto Uzumaki, which is a GA you nominated, as well as Sakura Haruno, Kakashi Hatake, Rock Lee, Gaara, Shikamaru Nara, and Orochimaru (Naruto), some of which may also be yours (I didn't check). I think that the errors come from changes with the citation templates themselves. Figured I'd give you a heads up that it happened. Sven Manguard Wha? 06:01, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re: Onimusha 3 characters edit

I would suggest integrating any relevant information into the plot and development sections. It should be fairly easy since some of the characters are based on actual historical figures and because one of the main protagonists is essentially portrayed by a real actor. Having a dedicated section for the characters, their roles in the game's plot, and their voice actors seems like cruft to me. Because there are several games in the Onimusha franchise, you could move the rest of the character information to a new article (i.e. List of Onimusha characters) and direct the reader to a section like "Characters introduced in Onimusha 3: Demon Siege"; sources like magazines, online reviews, and strategy guides can be used to source the text in the new article. This can be done to help clean up all the other articles for the franchise as well. Let me know if you need help finding good references. ~ Hibana (talk) 11:32, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re: Lightning (Final Fantasy) edit

Thanks for the compliment, I and many others worked hard on it (and I managed to keep my personal love for the character out of the equation for the sake of an unbiased viewpoint). I've had a look at the articles you linked. In both cases, it seems that the information that would make up a personality section is weaved into the general creation and development. With Tidus, it seems minimal, but for Cloud Strife, there seems to be a reasonable amount that can exist independent of the rest of the info (especially in the piece for Advent Children, where the info makes up half a paragraph). Not sure I can do them myself, since I'm likely to be both tied up with other Wikipedia articles and my life outside. Getting Lightning's article the way it is was mostly luck, stumbling onto references, and those interviews with Ali Hillis were a real find. Anyway, glad you liked it, even though the plot and reception info for Lightning Returns are still incoming.

Oh, on a sidenote, I've done some major work on Deus Ex (series), trying to get it as a half-way decent article rather than a mass of fan info and copied text from the games' articles. It would be nice to have a second opinion on the work there. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:56, 6 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Metal Gear?! edit

Hi Tintor2,

Concering the Metal Gear template and the very annoying MGS V, I don't know what is the best way to go. Earlier, I removed the asterisks, but you've reinserted them. With the double asterisk it puts the games between brackets, making it look like DLC or remakes (The Twin Snakes and Online are listed like that for instance). What do you think might be the best solution? --Soetermans. T / C 12:20, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I never saw that as DLC. I just thought it would be redundant to have MGSV twice so I combined the two similar to Template:Final Fantasy series. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 16:51, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tintor2, thanks for your reply. You can just reply here, to keep the discussion in one place :) While I do see your point, not having to list it twice, now it looks like MGSV (Ground ZeroesThe Phantom Pain), which to me doesn't look like a game made out of two parts, but like I said, like DLC or remakes. What about listing it like MGSV: Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain?
Seems okay to me.Tintor2 (talk) 15:41, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alphonse Elric edit

Hi, Tintor2. Alphonse Elric is almost a GA but I have no idea how to fix the issues DragonZero pointed. I only nominated, but you have the all merit to bring the article until the currently status, and you may want it to become a GA. The review is stagnated, and I think you are the one who could manage it. Also, Mustang, Scar, and Winry are very close to GA, and I think you may nominate them. A query edit

I was wondering, can you have a article nominated as a GA at the same time as it's up for a peer review? The article I'm referring to specifically is Drakengard 2, which I've pretty much re-written from the ground up (here's a before and after for you) until I think it's ready for GA. This is part of a project with Lucia Black to bring the games in the Drakengard series up to a suitable standard (i.e. GA or FA, firstly GA along with Nier). Only the original one and the characters article left that need any really major work, as 2 I think has been dealt with, the series article just needs some brushing-up and 3 is as good as it can get as it has yet to release in English. Orphaned non-free media (File:Haruno Sakura.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Haruno Sakura.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:00, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
