There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Longhair\talk 17:56, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

Would like to make factual corrections to the Tinopolis group page on behalf of an individual and not the company. I will not use promotional language and will remove any promotional language from the edits.

Decline reason:

The proposed new username is acceptable. However, the other elements of the block still need to be addressed. To be unblocked:

If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organization, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets.

So we know understanding is mutual, please state your understanding/response to each item in your own words.

I'm sorry that this message could not be more favorable. 331dot (talk) 11:23, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I agree to the following statements from Wikipedia in order to be unblocked:

  • I confirm that this account is used by one individual only
  • I agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to my organisation (my previously requested edits will still be permitted)
  • I agree to abide by the WIkimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and to disclose any paid relationship in accordance with the paid contributor policy
  • I plan to edit TV production and programming pages in the future to ensure they are factually accurate— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tinopolisgroup1 (talkcontribs)
You will need to make another unblock request, which will be reviewed by another administrator. However, you will need to do more than copy-paste the questions; please write your answers in your own words, to ensure understanding. It's also unlikely you will be permitted to edit about the TV industry as that is the field your company seems to be in- this is made clear in the conflict of interest policy. If you want to edit about subjects outside of your conflict of interest as a general Wikipedia contributor, you will need to state what those are. 331dot (talk) 11:50, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your response.

I want to reiterate that there is factually incorrect information on this Wikipedia page which I am trying to update out of interest for Wikipedia users. This is all I am trying to update, and if I'm not permitted to update other TV related pages then that's absolutely fine. Please see amended bullet points below. I would really appreciate if you could remove these factual inaccuracies by granting my submitted edits so we can close this matter.

  • I will be the sole user of this account - it's not a company account
  • I will not edit any specific articles linked to Tinopolis going forward, once the current Wikipedia page is factually accurate as per the edits previously submitted
  • I will of course follow all terms and conditions set by the Wikimedia Foundation
  • Going forward, I will not edit other pages related to the TV industry
As I indicated, you need to make another formal unblock request, just as you did the first time, per the instructions in your block notice. It won't be seen by another uninvolved administrator unless you do that. 331dot (talk) 13:14, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The username would be acceptable, but there are two problems here. Firstly, if by "the edits previously submitted" you mean those that got stuck in the edit filter (log), those were blatantly promotional and are not appropriate for Wikipedia. If they corrected factual inaccuracies, those got lost in an avalanche of spam, and the promotion was so over-the-top that I'm pretty sure it would have introduced new errors of fact. That you want to do that again after having been blocked for promotional editing shows that you haven't understood the problem. Secondly, you note above that you are "editing on behalf of an individual". If that falls within the scope of the disclosure requirements, you should tell us who that individual is, as well as all other pertinent information that you need to disclose. Huon (talk) 20:32, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your response. Can you please state which parts of the edits are deemed as promotional language and I can remove these. The rest of the edits are correcting fundamental factual inaccuracies.

I did not state that I am "editing on behalf of an individual" as you mentioned above, I stated I will be the sole user of this account. I would like to implement these edits (non promotionally) because it will make this page accurate for Wikipedia users. It would be great to resolve this ASAP, thanks. ~~~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tinopolisgroup1 (talkcontribs)

Please sign your posts with Tinopolisgroup1 (talk) 13:06, 30 November 2018 (UTC). You being the sole user of this account does not preclude the possibility that you are editing on someone's behalf. 331dot (talk) 12:20, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The post has now been signed - thanks. Tinopolisgroup1 (talk) 13:06, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

You need to do so without the "nowiki" coding which will prevent your signature from appearing. 331dot (talk) 13:00, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - the coding has been removed. Tinopolisgroup1 (talk) 13:07, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Good morning - just checking in on this page to see if there's been an update on this? If the promotional language which is an issue here is sent over, I'm happy to remove it and keep the factual corrections made previously (e.g. updates to the table etc). Thanks. Tinopolisgroup1 (talk) 10:27, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your last unblock request was declined(see above). You will need to make another, addressing the concerns given. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I want to be unblocked with this new username as an individual because I need to amend this page as there is factually incorrect information on this Wikipedia page which I am trying to update out of interest for Wikipedia users.

I am happy to remove any language deemed as promotional, as per the requests of previous administrators. If you are able to send examples of what should be removed, I can delete these from the edits. It would be great if the remaining factual corrections could be permitted (including the updated table etc) to ensure the page is accurate.

This account is an individual's Wikipedia account I will not edit any specific articles linked to Tinopolis going forward, once the current Wikipedia page is factually accurate as per the edits previously submitted (excluding anything with promotional language flagged by Wikipedia which will be deleted) I will of course follow all terms and conditions set by the Wikimedia Foundation

Going forward, I will not edit other pages related to the TV industry after this page. Tinopolisgroup1 (talk) 18:01, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Decline reason:

No. It is clear from your previous edits that you are not able to edit neutrally on the subject of your company. The only way you will be unblocked is if you agree not to edit the page about Tinopolis - no caveats, no "once it looks like I want it to look" - you may not edit that page. If you are not willing to comply with this, then you are not getting unblocked, period. Yunshui  11:36, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
