Hi! I noticed that you happened to remove several large sections of text from the article on Timnath, Colorado (given your username, I guess you have some connection with Timnath - I live in Fort Collins, nearby). Removing large blocks of text with discussing them on the article's talk page or without leaving an edit summary in the box below the edit window is generally not considered good form on Wikipedia. If you feel there are particular errors or that particular information should not be included in the article, it would be helpful if you could explain your thinking to other editors, especially if you want to remove large sections of text that other people worked hard on. Thanks! -- Seth Ilys 14:11, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Restoring the Timnath article. edit

Linda:

Thanks for your response. I appreciate your intentions (improving the accuracy of the article), and I'd like to work with you to help make this the best article as accurate and informative as possible. However, my greatest that the wholesale removals of the large sections of text you've excised leave the article less readable -- futhermore, many of the inaccuracies could have been fixed by simply changing the text of the article, rather than removing paragraphs wholesale.

One of the best ways to make sure that the article is accurate that is to see that all of the information in the article is well-cited and well-referenced. However, as Timnath is a small town, much of the relevant information isn't readily accessible online, I suspect. However, I'm sure you have direct access to many useful sources of information that would be useful in improving the article.

I'd love to stop by the Timnath town hall sometime convenient and perhaps work with you a bit (I suspect, for you, that it's also an public relations concern for the town, especially since the Wikipedia article on Timnath is one of the top hits via Google). Please email me at seth.ilys@gmail.com to let me know when a good time would be.

(P.S. I grew up in rural North Carolina, which is where I developed my fascination with small towns, their peculiar character and history. My first week in Colorado, I rode through Timnath and was rather enamored with it. I'd like someday to get the Wikipedia article on Timnath up to featured article level, and getting these corrections made with your help will be a good start.)

Timnath, Colorado edit

I can see from your recent edits you are concern about the accuracy of the article. Might I suggest a different route with regards to the editing of an article? Instead of merely excising the article of various parts, why not fix the mistakes you see? If you take at Wikipedia:Introduction you'll find some very helpful information on how to edit articles.

On a side note, nobody owns an article. Everyone is responsible for editing the articles and maintaining a high level of accuracy in the articles themselves. So feel free to dive right in there, and fix anything that is inaccurate. joshbuddytalk 17:29, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
