Review of Virginia Durant Covington Young

edit

This is a good start article. The section entitled Suffrage could be expanded with additional information concerning the role this woman played in the suffrage movement. The last source cited, from the South Caroline Department of Archives and History, contains a link to the Nomination Form to the National Register which gives more biographical information about Young, as well as additional bibliographical information. In the Death and Legacy section, the date and place of death would be a good addition. The first two source citations are the same source and need to be combined. Interesting woman! Thanks, Capejoani! Great suggestions! Tillyaceous (talk) 18:26, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

This article is concise with no unnecessary sentences. Virginia Durant Covington Young's resources are sparse and difficult to find. There is some information on the different experience of the suffragists from the southern part of the country that might be helpful to the reader. Since they were often left out of main stream suffrage struggles Young's biography provides an early and unique perspective. Jstor access was helpful in finding access to the South Carolina Historical Magazine which had an article found here Taylor, A. (1976). South Carolina and the Enfranchisement of Women: The Early Years. The South Carolina Historical Magazine, 77(2), 115-126. Retrieved from http://www.jstor.org/stable/27567374. It includes a quote on page 118. Carol7288 (talk) 18:12, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Carol7288 An existing Wikipedia link that could be added is the Temperance Movement which encouraged suffragists.
