https://www.doaks.org/resources/middle-east-garden-traditions/introduction/ottoman as source on Ottoman gardens

“According to Dr. Robert Elsie, an expert on Albanian culture, very few traces of the refined oriental culture of the Ottoman era remain here today.” This needs a footnote – where did Elsie say or write this? What is his evidence? Does he refer specifically to gardens, or to Ottoman heritage in general?

The listing “Abbasid gardens” with two sites in Spain doesn’t work - change heading or examples.

Romy Macari's suggestions: I really like the idea that you seem to suggest of just having a big section of “examples,” instead of having a section called “surviving gardens.” That organization seems much more straightforward and maybe you could just indicate whether or not these gardens still exist within the “examples” section. Something to consider is whether you plan on organizing the garden examples by place or time period or style? I noticed that you made a Hammadid gardens section, but then also have an Algeria gardens section and am curious to see which heading you pick.

I like that you seem to be adding some more detail to certain sections and have already added more examples like Iran and Egypt! I also like that you plan on including more images. I think that will add a lot to your Wikipedia page.

A suggestion I have is going back and making some edits on things like punctuation and simplifying certain sentences. For example, in the Hammadid Gardens section, it says, “allows spectators to gain an enjoyable experience looking at scene of gardens and lake simultaneously.” You might consider changing that phrase to something like “allowed spectators to enjoy looking at the gardens and lake simultaneously.” In the Iran section, you say “one of the wealth families” instead of “one of the wealthiest families.” Other sections I noted some quotation mark issues (which also might be one of your final editing steps) were the Iran and Ottoman gardens sections with the placement of the quotation marks or the absence of them.

Also, you might want to consider fleshing out or eliminating certain sentences like “artifacts recovered from this site attest to a high degree of civilization.” I’m not totally sure what artifacts refer to and what a high degree of civilization is.

Lastly, I was somewhat confused just because I saw the original text copied below and different sections multiple times. I’m wondering if you’re still playing with the organization? Also, do you plan on adding text in the sections like Spain, Turkey and India or just providing links? Just some questions I had, but everything is looking great! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Romymacari (talkcontribs) 00:19, 16 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
