There's three variations on browns. Of these three, I like the Boston College colors best, but the KDE colors are pretty close. The only real problem with these is that they aren't really safe on the "Netscape 216 color palette". The sorta yellow-brown uses Netscape-safe colors, but I'm not too happy with that combination. There are 9 different options currently on the page, my rough order of preference (from best to worst) is:
- Custom grey/yellow
- Trains topics blue
- Boston college beige
- Custom pale green
- KDE colours
- Plant taxobox green
- Custom blue/lemon
- List of songs grey
- Sorta yellow-brown
But I'm not certain we've found the perfect colours yet. Thryduulf 13:40, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Howbout that? Using the grey from Custom grey/yellow and the light beige from Boston College beige. I think it's a little less straining than that yellow. slambo 20:27, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
I agree the paler colours are nicer than the yellow, but combined with the grey the leight beige looks pinky-orange, and that doesn't feel right for some reason. I've had a go at another three similar - merginng the pale KDE colour with the grey looks OK, but I wouldn't say it looks good; the grey/tan looks quite good to me, but it might be a bit intense still?; The grey and pale wheat (it looks close to the colour known as Wheat here) doens't suffer from being too strong, but it feels a little drab. Maybe the background colour from "Custom pale green" or "custom blue/lemon" would work with the grey? I'm too tired to try it now though. Thryduulf 23:47, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
