What?

MetroPCS's article is terrible. It needs to be more than fundamentally be rewritten. I fail to see how the article is neutral in any way shape or form. Please take another look at it. Thank you

Obviously, I disagree. It could definitely be improved, but it's not terribly promotional to the extent that it requires speedy deletion. Consider taking it to WP:AFD if you feel strongly about it. Thparkth (talk) 02:23, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

"The article has some overly-promotional passages but mostly it's just neutral statements of fact, and the company is definitely notable. I believe the article is quite redeemable.", you wrote this to me. I will assume good faith: You simply did not look at the article long enough. Even if you are right and it doesn't need to be deleted, it needs to be edited very, very badly. MetroPCS is a popular network: People want to find out more about it. They look it up and click on the Wikipedia link and see "MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS), formerly known as General Wireless, Inc., is a flat rate unlimited, no contract, mobile phone service provider that has around 7.9 million subscribers, as of September 2010.[2] It operates the fifth largest mobile telecommunications network in the US.[citation needed] The company, a Delaware corporation, is headquartered in Richardson, Texas.[3] MetroPCS uses CDMA technology to offer service in addition to its '4G' network using LTE technology. It is an all digital network.". They will not like this article, which lists one source that I put in, verifying the starting year, and might leave with a bad impression of Wikipedia.

Actually I've just edited the article to remove that section. We probably agree more than you realize. The issue is that you tagged the article for speedy deletion, and speedy deletion has fairly strict criteria which do not apply in this case. Thparkth (talk) 02:46, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

We might indeed agree more than my message implied, but even with your edit the article still does meet criteria for speedy deletion in that it does nothing but promote some product or entity and still requires an extremely large rewrite. Like I pointed out, it is potentially hurting Wikipedia every moment the offending content is there, and if I were attempting to read the article I would greatly prefer the message that it is being majorly redone or that it is marked with a speedy deletion than just raw self-promotion. The template there does not address the gravity of the article's problems: It states that it might read like a newspaper article and suggests a possible move to Wikinews.

Since speedy deletion is not an option open to you at this point, I can only suggest you take it to WP:AFD. Meanwhile, I will work on improving the article. Thparkth (talk) 03:05, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Stubbing

Hi, when you add a {{stub}} tag, as you did to Residual bit error rate, please remember it goes at the end per WP:LAYOUT (after everything but inter-wiki links), not at the top. Makes life easier for stub-sorters if we know where to find it, and that's where it's supposed to be displayed. Thanks. PamD (talk) 14:55, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Good point. For some reason I have great difficulty remembering this! Thparkth (talk) 14:56, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
