They were the heads of two different organizations. Yes, the modern attempt to revive the Sanhedrin is modeling itself after the old one, but it's not the same. There have also been several other attempts in the past 2000 years to revive the Sanhedrin, and many of those other attempts have also had a Nasi. If we allow anyone to simply declare themselves the Sanhedrin and attempt to succeed the original one, then why wouldn't we say that Jacob Berab succeeded Gamliel? --Bachrach44 19:08, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
