Topics? edit

Hi! Please put up 2 or 3 page ideas (either here or on your user page main space) that you would like to start working on, along with a short justification for why they deserve your hard work. Thanks! Daclausen (talk) 15:22, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Page Ideas edit

Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management - I am highly involved in the Raikes School (through SAB, KRA, being an ambassador and mentor). I think it would be interesting to find some official resources to add to the page. There is a lot of missing information or information that needs to be updated.

Central High School (St. Joseph, MO) - I originally wanted to add to the page about St. Joe but it was pretty extensive. My high school is the second-oldest west of the Mississippi. There's a lot of history that's missing from the page and room to add sections about the new additions.

Chvrches - They just had a new album release on 9/25 and their page could use some work, especially in regards to the new album.

Page Proposal 10/11/15 edit

I have decided to update the Wikipedia page on the Raikes School. I am very interested in this topic so it is selfish in some ways. I am hyper-involved in the School as a member of KRA, a mentor, an ambassador, and the president of Raikes SAB. I feel very strongly that this program is an Ivy League education with a state school experience. Kauffman's culture is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's a social experiment. Additionally, Raikes has the potential to be something great. We are working on our image nationwide and even internationally (we have several foreign exchange students). This School provides an opportunity for students who are highly motivated and highly intelligent, regardless of gender, race, or financial status. I think the Raikes School has the potential to become huge, with other schools around the country copying some aspects of our program, such as Design Studio or the live/work environment. In order for that to happen, all of our media outlets, including Wikipedia, need to be up to date with our most recent information. I would love the chance to have a positive impact on the Raikes School and its image.

Your passion and knowledge of this topic will definitely be useful as you write, but is it possible that your personal involvement with the Raikes School could create a bias in your writing? Make sure you be able to adequately distance yourself from your own personal experiences well enough to write a "neutral" article. Good luck!

Hratliff is right. This sounds like a good topic in that there isn't much on WP but there is lots of information outside, but remember the potential for an apparent conflict of interest. You're going to have to work hard to stick to the facts, and not let your partisan support of the school creep into your copy. If other editors are aware of your connection to the school, that along might be grounds for them to remove your edits. That said, you will simply have to strengthen your argument (talk page side) for why your contributions ought to stay. Daclausen (talk) 17:15, 12 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jeffrey S. Raikes School edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jeffrey S. Raikes School, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 00:47, 18 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
