Greetings, Diannaa. I am sorry for giving the Wikimedia Foundation (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Thepuglover) such a headache for not understanding the copyright policy. Sorry for not replying to previous messages. I now have learned my lesson and understand that I mustn't copy text directly from the source because of copyright. Since the consensus is the way of making decisions on Wikipedia, I am open to a period of being temporary banned. Big excuse once again and let's find a way, so I can, peacefully and without copyright violations this time, edit articles and help the really welcoming and helpful community of The Encyclopedia. Greetings and happy holidays, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 08:46, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:51, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
@Yamla:
Greetings, Yamla!
- The copyright is an intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to copy and distribute their creative work.
- Wikipedia is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and The GNU General Public License 2.0.
- Copyrighted content isn't allowed because it violates the Fair use and the rights of the creators of the creative work.
- Copyrighted content can be used under the Fair use limitations or when permission is acquired from the copyright holder. However, copyleft content can be used freely.
- I will follow the Fair use and Wikipedia's copyright Policy. I will follow Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing to summarize in my own words instead of closely paraphrasing while avoiding infringes on the copyright of the source material. Neither I will copy text directly from the copyrighted source.
Sorry for the late response. Yours, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 10:09, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- No. Not only did you copy and paste your answer in violation of copyright, but your understanding of WP:FAIRUSE is simply incorrect. --Yamla (talk) 12:33, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Yamla: Greetings again Yamla. Now I see that my understanding of Fair use was incorrect: non-free content can be used in articles only if its usage would be considered fair use in United States copyright law and also complies with the Non-free content criteria; it is used for a purpose that cannot be fulfilled by free material (text or images, existing or to be created); and it has a valid rationale indicating why its usage would be considered fair use within Wikipedia policy and U.S. law. Looking foward for unblocking in the future and sory for the mount-late responce, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 09:19, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- You have copy-pasted the above answer from Wikipedia:Non-free content. That doesn't show us that you understand our copyright policy and plan on following it in the future. In fact it does the opposite.β Diannaa (talk) 15:25, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

@Diannaa: Greetings a few mounts after, again, Dianna. I understand that I shouldn't copy text directly from the source, neither shouldn't I closely paraphrase. I will, instead, write the information in my own words and I will try not to give the Wikimedia Foundation such a headache with my misunderstanding of the copyright policy. Hello yet again. I am sorry for not understanding the copyright policy. It all just started when I thought I could just copy text from somewhere, add citation, and it is fine. As I learned the hard way, it isn't. To be fair, in the Bulgarian Wikipedia I have also had the same problem with some of the articles I have edited there (there I am an active and experienced editor). This was because I didn't understand copyright very well at the time. Nowadays, I still don't understand it completely and probably never will, but I, hopefully, have learned the basics from my mistakes. Now, to the answer to your questions: * Copyright is an intellectual property which gives it's author the right to distribute their work and copy it * Wikipedia is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, as far as I understand because at the bottom of every page there is a line of text that says it * Copyrighted content is not allowed on Wikipedia because it violates the rights of the creators (which they have because of copyright) * Copyrighted content can be used if we follow the fair use policies: minimal use of non-free content, usage of free equivalent if possible, saying the things in our own words instead of very close paraphrasing, and of course, by citing our sources * I will hopefully do my best to not violate copyright: no more close paraphrasing or direct copying (btw Metallacarbaboranes is almost completely copied from the Encyclopedia of Inorg chem). If I have even the slightest concerns, I will ask other editors or even admins for help I am happy that you, despite my inability to not copy from source, probably have assumed good faith because at the time I really didn't know what exactly I was doing wrong. I, with all the understanding, would like to get a second chance to prove myself as a now more competent and better editor. Yours, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 08:55, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

- I am not comfortable unblocking at this time. While your answers are correct for the most part, you admit that you don't really understand, and that you have an "inability to not copy from source". The fact that some of your copying has been from books which we have no way to access will make it impossible for us to determine whether or not future additions are okay for us to keep.β Diannaa (talk) 20:23, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Diannaa:Hello again, Diannaa and Happy International Women's Day! I don't understand the Copyright policy perfectly, but I know that I must say the things in my own words (and not copy from the sources) and if I have even the slightest concerns, it will be my duty to ask more qualified editors and even give them a copy of the sources if possible. I understand that copying from books that you don't have access isn't helping at all but neither can we have all the books in the world (and since people have found copyright problems with the book I cited, at least someone else has it) nor the fact I edited some articles poorly means I will do it again. It has been over a year since I was blocked. A lot of things have changed, and so do I. All I wanted to do with my inadequate edits is to expand articles that need more love. Let's not turn my attempts at unblocking into Sisyphus work and if all I wrote until now didn't change your mind, please tell me what will make it comfortable for the Wikipedia admins to unblock me.
- (If Smokefoot still needs the article for Metallacarbaboranes I can email him a PDF of the book)

I don't see a way forward here at this time. - @331dot: Thank you for the fast response! I really value your help and I would like to know how do I demonstrate my understanding of copyright. In the past two years I have almost none copyright violations in the Bulgarian Wiki. There I am an active and trustworthy editor. Also, is there a way simple, non copyright-violating way to share my non-free sources. Yours, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 13:34, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a place to merely share sources, it is a place to summarize them. Other than that I have nothing else to say that has not already been said above. 331dot (talk) 14:11, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

This unblock request has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate and confirm that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:
- Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
- Reading our guide to improving articles.
- Picking any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
- If you have trouble choosing an article to improve, see this index of articles needing improvement for ideas.
Once you have decided on the article you will propose improvements to:
- Click the Edit tab at the top of that article;
- Copy the portion of the prose from that article that you will be proposing changes to. However:
- do not copy the "infobox" from the start of the article (i.e., markup like this:
...
), - do not copy any image placement code (i.e., markup like this:

), - do not copy the page's categories from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this:

), - and do not copy the stub tag (if there) from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this:
Foo stub
);
- do not copy the "infobox" from the start of the article (i.e., markup like this:
- Click edit at your talk page and paste at the bottom under a new section header (like this:
Article title
) the copied content but do not save yet; - Place your cursor in the edit summary box and paste there an edit summary in the following form which specifies the name of the article you copied from and links to it (this is required for mandatory copyright attribution): "
Copied content from exact Name of Article; see that article's history for attribution.
" - You can now save the page. However, if your edits will include any citations to reliable sources (which they should), add the following template to the end of your prose:
reflist-talk
. Once you have added the template, click Publish changes.
- Now, edit that content. Propose significant and well researched improvements by editing the selected portion of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
- When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking using unblock and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
- If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will hopefully improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.
If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "your question here ~~~~
" to your talk page. Thank you.

Hello administrators, I would like to propose my unblock request according to WP:SO.
In the last year and a half, I have been blocked indefinitely because of my copyright violations on a few articles and mostly because of my unfair use of The Encyclopaedia of Inorganic Chemistry. I had copy-pasted paragraphs of the book without permission, which I fully understand as my own mistake and as something that can't be done. I will do my best at summarizing my sources in only my words, using them adequately and according to Fair use. And if I have the slightest of a concern, I will always ask other competent editors, who will tell me if my text has copyright issues. In the same way, I will ask for someone else's opinion on the subject whether something can be copied because it looks like it is under free and open license.
I will ask for my second and only chance to prove myself as a competent editor. Yours, ππππ₯π π£ πππππ§ (talk) 10:19, 15 June 2022 (UTC).

I can't unblock at the present time. (1) You still don't understand that we don't use fair use for prose on Wikipedia. Everything you add needs to be written in your own words. (Short quotations are okay, but only when there's no alternative.) (2) If you're not sure whether or not your addition is violating copyright, I don't think you understand copyright sufficiently to edit here. (3) You don't seem to know how to determine the license of your source material. β Diannaa (talk) 10:33, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Diannaa Hello! Thank you for the responce and the usefull information. I would like to ask for my second chanse so I can practise my understanding and not repeat my mistakes anymore. I understand why you are uncomfortable with unblocking me, but, I just want to help the Encyclopedia. I see that my attempst weren't good at all, but without practise I can't improve myself. At that time Iβve made over 1000 contributions, became an extended confirmed user, and created 20 new articles, in which I cited over 55 sources in the Bulgarian Wikipedia.[1] While this isnβt much by the standards of English Wikipedia, it is a great improvement in my understanding of this site. Looking at two of your contributions at the Bulgarian Wiki, bg:ΠΡΡΠΎΡΠΈΡ Π½Π° ΠΡΡΠ°Π½ and also bg:ΠΠΊΠΎΠ½ΠΎΠΌΠΈΠΊΠ° Π½Π° ΠΠ°Π½Π³Π»Π°Π΄Π΅Ρ. I can see that in each instance you copied most of the prose from another article on that wiki. What are you supposed to do when you copy from one Wikipedia article to another? Also, it's just more copypasting. These page creations don't prove that you know how to summarize sources in your own words, which is the key skill you need to prove to us that you possess. β Diannaa (talk) 13:33, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
@Diannaa: The text in those two articles was previosly in bg:ΠΡΡΠ°Π½ and bg:ΠΠ°Π½Π³Π»Π°Π΄Π΅Ρ. I moved the content to separete articles as part of bg:Π£ΠΈΠΊΠΈΠΏΠ΅Π΄ΠΈΡ:ΠΠ΅ΡΠ΅Ρ Π½Π° ΠΠ·ΠΈΡ 2022. After that I added sources which stated that the presented information in these two articles is true. As a counterexample to your argument, see for example bg:ΠΠΎΡΠ°Π½ΠΈ or bg:ΠΡΠ»Π³Π°ΡΡΠΊΠΈ Π΅Π½ΡΠΈΠΊΠ»ΠΎΠΏΠ΅Π΄ΠΈΠΈ. I belive that moving information from one article to annother, if the sources support it, is not a bad idea.

- Copying prose from one Wikipeda article is okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of our license. Also, it does nothing to prove that you know how to create original prose; it only shows that you know how to copy, and we are already aware that you know how to copy; coping copyright material is why you are blocked. The tiny bits you added to the two example articles are not convincing. β Diannaa (talk) 14:46, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Dear Wikipedia Administrators, in the last few years I made several unsuccessful attempts for the return of my editing rights. I am banned for direct copying from source material, however, I believe I stopped doing it. After several years at university and researching a lot of articles while working there, I now really understand the importance of copyright and how to paraphrase sources. While I may not do it right all the time, I will ask for help when needed. Lately, I am very busy and have no time for Wikipedia, so I can't prove I won't repeat my mistake. This is a very soft decline. Do not ping admins to this page, when you make a request, it appears in a category admins review. If you don't have time for Wikipedia, there is no need to unblock you. Additionally, copyright is a serious legal matter, we can't allow you to "not do it right all the time"; you have to do it right all the time. 331dot (talk) 07:47, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
