Addition of unreferenced information

edit

I have noticed you have added Denmark to some infoboxes. The infobox should only show what is mentioned in the article. If Denmark(et.al.) are involved in these instances(battles, wars, etc), then a reliable source should be used to prove it. Continued addition of unreferenced information into infoboxes and articles can be considered disruptive editing. Feel free to post any questions on my talk page. --Kansas Bear (talk) 20:50, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your critique. I am still new to wikipedia, and dont know much about how to add references. But i understand you, and will of course now add refferences to what i add on the various articles. Thank you for informing me. - Thenationalist.dk (talk) 14:18, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Italian War of 1542–1546

edit

Since neither Denmark or Christian III are mentioned in the article(which is why they should not be listed in the infobox), how about you draft a couple of paragraphs in a sandbox outlining in-detail Denmark and Christian III's involvement in the Italian war of 1542-1546? Polish it off with reliable sources and then consider adding it to the article. What do you think? --Kansas Bear (talk) 20:24, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have now made a small sandbox paragram, you can check it out under my user page, and consider if its worth adding. -- Thenationalist.dk (talk) 22:53, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Do you have any sources that can tie that conflict to the Italian war of 1542-1546? --Kansas Bear (talk) 00:42, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I found this:
  • "In November 1541, King Christian III of Denmark signed a treaty with France that presaged a breakdown in negotiations for a settlement of issues still outstanding from the Netherlands-Denmark war of 1534-1536." --Emperor Charles V, Impresario of War, James D. Tracy, page 183-184. --Kansas Bear (talk) 01:12, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Found more:
  • "Emperor Charles V stood by his refusal to recognize Christian of Holstein as King of Denmark and adhered to the dynastic policy that aimed at procuring the Danish throne for Frederick of the Palatinate. Consequently diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Denmark remained problematic. In 1541 Christian joined the anti-Habsburg opposition in Europe by concluding an alliance with Francis I of France, the chief enemy of the Habsburg monarchy. In 1542 and 1543 the Sound and the Belt were once again closed to Netherlandish shipping. The city of Amsterdam's plan to use violence to force the Sound had no chance of being executed since the provinces of the Netherlands were themselves now in danger. The French attacked in the south, the Gelderlanders in the east, while the Danes were in position with a fleet of their own off the Netherlandish coast. Finally in 1544 at Speyer a peace treaty was concluded; the emperor recognized Christian III as king of Denmark and free passage through the Sound was guaranteed." --"Amphibious Warfare in the Baltic: The Hansa, Holland and the Habsburgs", Louis Sicking, Amphibious Warfare, 1000-1700, ed. Trim and Mark C. Fissel, Brill, 2006, page 91.
Thoughts? --Kansas Bear (talk) 01:34, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think boths are really intresting sources, which i will definetly look into and read. They are also showing how the Dano-Dutch war is connected with the larger Italian war. Will it be okay if i add those sources to my sandbox?-- Thenationalist.dk (talk) 08:42, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Certainly! Just be sure to paraphrase the information. --Kansas Bear (talk) 13:28, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

You should perhaps consider writing in the discussion page prior to making big changes in articles.

Clarity

edit

Make it clear what it is you're changing. Either by writing a summary or by explaining it more elaborately in the discussion page. You make very large edits and I am growing suspicious of their historicity. Since you refuse to elaborate. Oxieltro (talk) 14:01, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

All im doing with the various Dano-Swedish wars is too insert all the changes in the treaties and territories, so people can get a better understanding of the outcome. - Thenationalist.dk (talk) 10:21, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am by no means criticizing your action. Please understand that. You're doing good things as far as I can tell, but its important to provide "verifiable" source, like the specific pages within a book. The problem with not leaving very specific sources is that it leaves a lot of room for pseudo history or at the very least biased history to grow - I AM NOT accusing you of this - I hope you see this problem as well. All well. Oxieltro (talk) 11:25, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
