Welcome to Wikipedia!

edit

Dear Thejax: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! Xiong Chiamiov :: contact :: 16:17, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Exam-table.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —chair lunch dinner™ talk 06:50, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Under-dressed girls

edit

While these comments may well be true, I think you're falling foul of the 'no original research' rule. To be considered valid on this site, you'd really need to provide a cite to an external source making the same claims: I've left the page alone for the time being, but until you can cite sources I suspect you'll see people reverting it on that basis. Speedy delete tags

edit

Do not remove speedy delete tags from articles. It is considered vandalism. If you believe the article has merit, and should not be deleted, add a "hang-on" tag to the article, and make your case on the article's talk page. Thank you. ---Charles 19:51, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I only deleted it because you tagged it by coming to a conclusion without doing your homework. ---thejax

Whacker

edit
  • Reply (copied from AFD discussion page): The additional links are helpful. I'd still feel better if you had a reliable source (like a newspaper article) that specifically discussed or defined what a "whacker" is. That said, it's your job, as the article creator, to make sure that the article is backed by verifiable sources. It's not other editors' responsibility to "call their local fire department" to verify an article. Finally, the article is no longer tagged for speedy deletion, so there's no need to repost the hangon tag. AFD discussions normally run for five days. If there are reputable news sources, that should be enough time to find them. NawlinWiki 20:47, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to User:NawlinWiki

edit

User pages are for people to describe themselves. If you want to leave a message for someone, leave it on their Talk page, in this case User talk:NawlinWiki. If you put something on the User page, that person will not get the "You have new messages" note. Fan-1967 21:02, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Potty Pants

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as "Potty pants") are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy by vandalism. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by replying here on your talk page by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. You may also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list instead, or mail unblock-en-l@mail.wikimedia.org. Firsfron of Ronchester 07:46, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Here is a copy of the E-Mail I sent to Firsfron of Ronchester regarding this matter.

....... Good Evening. I want to appoligize for the trouble. As you know, the christmas holiday is among us and I have young teenagers over my house playing on my computer. I was on Wikipedia earlier and left my name logged in. It seems I have been blocked by you indefinetly for what they have posted under my name. After what I read, I agree with why you responded the way you did. I also take responsibility for this because it was my negligence that left me name logged in, which lead to the issue of adding to the pages as you see here. I have found out about this after I was just woke from them telling me I was blocked. I obviously started yelling at them and so on. It is 3:00am here at the moment.

If you look at my past additions, I submit articles that other users may find unjustifiable so I try to justify it. These articles that were recently posted under my name are not my style at all. I would never just play around adding tags or putting up derogatory things about Wikipedia. As you notice, I have not done this in the past. I ask that you please remove this block. I have learned my lesson by leaving my computer on unattended and if you feel I should remain blocked, I can respect that. But I request that the block can be changed and will at least expire and not be indefinet. Though I take responsibility, I did not do this work and I feel I should be penalized indefinetly for something I would never do. Please respond when you get a chance. Again, I appoligize.

Fair enough. I've contacted the blocking admin for comment. In the meantime, please bear with us, and thanks for your patience. Luna Santin 10:09, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I won't unblock. Even before this incident, this user's contributions are highly questionable. I note this was one of the user's first edits, reverted multiple times, and then later there was this. User's first contribution was a 4RR, followed by edits which were reverted as vandalism. User's remaining contributions consist of talk page complaints ("I didn't vandalize!") and then a string of vandalism and/or nonsense edits yesterday. These types of edits lead me to believe this user has no interest in building an encyclopedia. Firsfron of Ronchester 19:23, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Unfabulous

edit

I reverted your edits because the whole story seems a little bizarre and there wasn't a single source to support it. If you're planning to re-add it, please read Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research before you do. --Fritz S. (Talk) 10:05, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Unfabulous02.jpg

edit

I noticed you simply copied the source/copyright information for Image:Unfabulous02.jpg from Image:Unfabulous 03.jpg. It's obviously a different image from a different source, so please provide the proper copyright/source information. --Fritz S. (Talk) 13:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
