Speedy deletion nomination of Resident Evil 2 Reborn

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Resident Evil 2 Reborn, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Fan game

edit

Hey, I've deleted the article. Since the game was never made it ultimately wouldn't really pass notability guidelines. Since it did get some coverage for its cancellation this might warrant a brief mention in the main article for Resident Evil 2. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:41, 20 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing game articles

edit

I had to delete the article for the Tom Clancy Splinter Cell game. I can't find anything to substantiate that this game will release next week. Normally games tend to get at least a little coverage. The only thing that I could find was this video, which seems to be a fake per the video comments. It seems that you also did this with Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (2016 video game). You had put a source in the article, but a quick look for this source shows that it doesn't seem to actually exist. A search brought up this Wikia page, where the comments there also seem to agree that the claims were fake.

I have to assume that both of these are hoax articles, given the dearth of coverage out there for what would be fairly high profile games. There would be something out there to show that they would be coming out. I'm debating giving you a short warning block for adding the two hoax articles, since it's really hard to assume good faith when there's pretty much zero coverage out there for either, especially considering that you wrote that one of them released last month. Wikipedia has a low tolerance for the addition of hoax articles.

Please do not create articles for games unless they have received a lot of coverage to show that they exist and will release. It would probably be best if you only created articles via AfC, to be honest. I will give you one strict warning: if you try to create more articles similar to the ones above, you run the risk of getting permanently blocked from editing. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
  • I'm willing to unblock you so you can seek a new username, but I need to make sure that you are aware of the following:
  1. Creating pages for games that do not exist is not acceptable.
  2. If you create an article you need to provide sourcing to show that it is notable and that it exists.
  3. Using content from fan-made Wikias is not a good idea (assuming this is what you did) because there's no guarantee that this content will be truthful or accurate.
I'd also like to ask that you only create articles at AfC from this point on, because the articles you've made have been so problematic. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:23, 8 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Decline reason:

That's not a new username, it's the same one. Also, you would need to take this block seriously and address the questions raised by Tokyogirl79 in a convincing manner if you wish to be unblocked. And one final hint - using "lol" as a heading for your unblock request is very unlikely to help. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:55, 8 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • You have not given a new username, nor have you really shown that you understand the other concerns. To be honest, your flippancy gives off the strong impression that you would likely continue to edit in ways that would be seen as disruptive (ie, creating articles for games that by all accounts do not exist). Because of this, I've changed this block to a WP:NOTHERE block rather than just a username block. You will still need to change your username, but now you absolutely must show that you will edit in a beneficial manner if you are unblocked. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:22, 8 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • To any incoming admin: unless he can give a very, very good explanation for why he created two articles for games that do not exist and why he didn't take the block seriously, along with proof that he will edit responsibly, I'd recommend against unblocking him.
