I agree that the fundamentals and origins of any band is a significant factor in understanding the band and it music. To get this information into the wikipedia article it needs to be sourced so that anyone that reads the article can refer to the source and verify what is being said this is the essence of WP:OR and WP:V.

For wikipedia its not very common for the subject of an article to actual edit the article, normally a lot those editors are politicians or public figures trying to polish the blemishes so that they no longer exist. This is where WP:COI comes about by saying if you did something thats a matter of public record then its will get included whether you want it to or not.

The next thing that needs to be considered is WP:NOT, here is the finest line you'll have to walk as any one of the 10 conditions can cause editors to remove content from an article. The main ones that are getting used at the moment are:

  • 1.3 original thought
  • 1.4 a soapbox
  • 1.6 a blog
  • 1.8 an indiscriminate collect of information
  • 1.9 a crystal ball

When you provide some information 1.4 and 1.6 are best over come by using the talk page. by saying We are recording a new album with a release date of april-May 07, see this link (provide a link directly to the article) or if the source is say saturdays edition of the Sun newsapaper then say that with a date and page number.

Your quote is extremely difficult, for that to get into the article you need someone else to have already published it, that provides a source as per WP:V. The alternative is to put it on your web page and let someone else choose to add it to the article.

Overall if you walk softly and slowly, work with User:Spylab by putting suggestions and links on the talk page you'll be suprised how much information that will be added to the article. Once the basic information is there you can edit corrections to whats being said.

Its great to see you've created an account because now you can put the quote there and thats not an issue. Additionally theres one those infobox type things that can be added to the article thats says you are editing the article(I'll find and add), that will bring interested readers to your user page.

Anyhow I think I've covered the information you need, if at any time you want more help just ask either on my talk page or on the article talk page. Gnangarra 00:40, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
