BBC Radiophonic Workshop & BBC Video

edit

Hi there... I've deleted your addition to the radiophonic workshop template again and thought i should explain why. The radiophonic workshop was an in-house sound effects and music department of the BBC and did work for all areas of the BBC including, i presume, bbc video but the template is for use with articles directly related to the workshop and not just tenuous links. The section entitled "Related Articles" on the template includes articles with which the workshop was greatly associated and which would be, presumably, of interest to a reader of any of the workshop-related articles. (for example Doctor Who theme music is there because it is one of their most recognised works). If the section of the template included everything the department worked on, it would have hundreds (if not thousands) of links. I also removed the template from the BBC Video page for the same reason. --Thetriangleguy 20:01, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Here is my little section for screenplays.

  • Landlady: I’ll clean up.

  • Gene: We do!
  • Landlady <to Bob>: And who are you? The Silver Surfer?
  • (Cut to Beach)

  • Gene: I think I’ll go for a dive…
  • (Gene dives a high distance)
  • Bob: Err…you don’t have your swimming trunks with you.

  • Gene: What the?
  • (Gene is sent flying into the sand)
  • (He rolls and counters with a blast from his tranquilliser)

  • Like I said on my talk page, that's a good story. It's too bad the trolls on IMDb offend newcomers to the scripts board. Did you read any posts from trolls that were offending me and my story? --Imax80 00:48, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Thanks again...and yes, I did see the posts. Horrible. They just want to annoy you. Ignore them and soon, with the right software, will you have the project created. Good luck. When finished, upload to Google Video (it's bad YouTube won't accept over ten minutes unless you are "director". :S). --The Track Master 15:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Another Scene from Safari

  • Leo: It's soda.
  • Speedy: God that's not right.
  • Leo: I need to eat something.
  • Neckstor: You want my weiner?
  • Leo: Oh god, no (sees him holding a hot dog), I mean, uh, you eat it.

--Imax80 21:48, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

    • Okay, here we go, more!
  • Leo: Everything is going to be alright (sees poachers in Humvees). Or not.

Funny. How are you writing this? Are you typing it in Word etc? Or are you typing with the flow? Also, how long will the film be, should it come to fruition? --The Track Master 19:08, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't know what you mean by the first question, but I predict the film will be 205 minutes long. --Imax80 21:22, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Uh, what I meant with the first question was "are you writing it in a word processor, or online?". Ah, long movie. --The Track Master 16:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just got two videos

edit

Hey Track, I just got two new 1980s Disney videos from a rental store that was closing and selling all of its titles. The titles are the 1983 video release of Tex in a hard case with full artwork on cover, no Sorcerer Mickey. And then the 1986 tape re-release of Return from Witch Mountain, in a white case with slide-in artwork, and a small WDHV Sorcerer Mickey logo on the top, printed April 17, 1986.

I haven't watched them yet, but I will later tonight. --Imax80 23:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hope you enjoy them! My Magnetic Video version of "The Sound of Music" is being delivered. -- The Track Master 16:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Harmwave: Ahhh!!!! (dying)
  • Announcer: But in 1979, he is back, and he is not alone.

(a bunch of evil army guys are dancing in a disco, Leo and his brother Albi break in)

  • Evil Army Men: (all gasp)
  • Leo: Let's crash this disco!
  • Albi: You said it!! (fires off an uzi)
  • Announcer: Safari: Locked and Loaded
  • Leo: The intensity will really start. (fires off an M-16)
  • Announcer: Next Autumn

Ooh, Disco! Great stuff! .--O--. Stayin' Alive/Disco Dance Emotion :) By the way, how much is left in writing Safari? --The Track Master 17:11, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

    • Lot's is left to writing the whole Safari franchise. There eight movies, the pastlife of Leo will be shown through by a TV series, and also lots of other stuff behind the legends. There are actually fantasy creatues in the whole lexicon of Safari.

Short Film I Want to Pitch

edit

I want to make a story dedicated to Walt Disney Home Video collectors. I just can't stir up an idea.

Here's one line of dialogue I think was funny though.

Person #1: Black Diamonds own!

Person #2: What are black diamonds?

Person #1: They own! They own! The best Disney videos ever! Oh god, since 1984..

Person #2: You mean "The Classics" with that black diamond shaped logo?

Person #1: Yeah! That's the nickname for it.

Person #2: What is so special about it? I mean, I don't use those tapes anymore since I switched to DVD.

Person #1: Holy ****, give me all your copies!

Person #2: Already sold.

Person #1: Noooooooooo!

Person #3: Hey pal, I found these Black Diamond editions at a tag sale, why are you so shocked?

Person #2: Hey those are mine, you bought them.

Person #1: You son own, dude!

Person #2: I feel like I am talking to video loving idiots.

Person #4: **** you man! Black Diamonds rule!

Person #2: Oh god.

--Imax80 21:27, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

ROFL. :) Nice satire. --The Track Master 13:03, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Person #1: Wow, we have them all, now for the PAL versions.

Person #2: Dude, we don't got PAL.

Person #1: We do now. I got it in the UK last year, isn't it spiffy?

Person #2: Plays Beta and VHS? Wicked man.

Person #1: Where are we going to get the PAL tape's though?

Person #2: My friend in the UK.

Person #1: It gets better and better.

More to come from WDHV Collectors: Under the Clamshell. --Imax80 20:57, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Haha! I'm loving this. Into the 3D editor, I say...:) Oh, and I wonder who that UK guy might be...:) --The Track Master 14:51, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

UK Person: Hey you two, I heard you got a PAL VHS/Beta player. What may I supply you with?

Person #1: Old 1980s Disney videos will do, thank you.

UK Person: Already done.

Person #2: Holy hot stuff! You have all of them!

UK Person: Carry on, that's all I have.

Person #1: Onto Japan for LaserDiscs.

New Script The Power of Exca

edit

The Power of Exca by Imax80

1975, rural Wyoming, a small town lies around. On the outskirts of that town is a quiet neigborhood in the backwoods. There is a house, with one boy, who would become a hero in the past. But...

  • Jim: Tom, son, wake up!
  • Tom: Five more minutes.
  • Jim: Son, you gotta go to school. I wish you didn't have to though.
  • Tom: I wish I was a warrior in the medievals, but I'm a modern day geek.
  • Jim: Don't say that. Eat this super intellegence go go chow and get that knowledge. I have faith in you, son.
  • Tom: I hate school.
  • Jim: By son.
  • Tom: (entering the bus) Okay, where to sit, where to sit.
  • Kid #1: Move it, nerdface!
  • Kid #2: Yeah, you misfit.
  • Dave: Tom, so glad you could make it.
  • Neil: Did ya bring the card?
  • Tom: Yes, MediMonsters card #208, the rarest of the bunch!
  • Neil: Wow!
  • John: Holy sh*t! You are the best!!

At school, Tom and his three only friends are in study hall, talking, when suddenly...

  • Tom: Yeah, so I got this card at the Rare Stuff shop, it's so awesome.
  • Ms. Blowhard: Mr. Coxley, do you have something to say?
  • Tom: Uh no.
  • Ms. Blowhard: This is a study hall, so be more considerate and shut up, everyone else is studying for the exam tomorrow.
  • Tom: Free country, b*tch.
  • Ms. Blowhard: Go in the hall, you and your friends!
  • Neil: What did we do?
  • Ms. Blowhard: OUT! I am calling the principal.

In the hallway...

  • Tom: Once again, here and the hallway.
  • Neil: Have some gum.
  • Tom: Sure. (chews it)
  • Ms. Titarse: Shouldn't you boys be somewhere? And, are you chewing gum?! Alexis Bosshard! We got a troublemaker.
  • Alexis: That's the one, Mr. Thomas Coxley, get in here.
  • Tom: By guys!
  • Alexis: Thomas.
  • Tom: Uh, call me Tom.
  • Alexis: Thomas, how does it make you feel disrespecting this school?
  • Tom: What did I do? I was in the hallway minding my business when Ms. Tight-a** shows up and says I did something wrong.
  • Alexis: Mr. Thomas Coxley! No swearing! You were chewing gum.
  • Tom: So what? I'm just chewing a rubbery pink thingy, and you teachers get so worked up about that. You see, kids eat or don't eat breakfast at this age, and wait countless ours until lunchtime, and yet you teachers don't let them refresh on something? You are serious health offenders.
  • Alexis: Don't talk back to me like that young man!
  • Tom: I wasn't.
  • Alexis: You were.
  • Tom: You guys are too sensitive.
  • Alexis: That's it!!! I'm calling your parents!!! I haven't even met them yet.
  • Tom: Knock yourself out.
  • Alexis: (dailing phone number)
  • Jim: (watching adult movies) Oh yeah, this is where it gets the goods! (Beta tape crinkles) Stupid Beta machine! I should've gotten a VHS player! Too bad it's only out in Japan, or not, stupid thing! (beats it with a bat) Play my movie mother f- (telephone rings) Huh?
  • Alexis: Come on, pick up the phone!
  • Jim: Hey, Jim Coxley here.
  • Alexis: Hello, Jim, are you Tom Coxley's father?
  • Jim: Who are you? Oh wait, you! The principal. What did my son do now?
  • Alexis: He was once again being disrespectful.
  • Jim: Yeah yeah yeah, why you tellin' me?
  • Alexis: Errr!!! Get to the school now!! I am having a meeting with you.
  • Jim: Oh brother. This should be interesting.

Jim arrives at school and in the principal's office.

  • Jim: Yo guys, just droppin' by to...uh..Tom! My buddy! What are you doin' here?
  • Alexis: Is that an alcholic beverage in your hand?!
  • Jim: It's called beer, Ms. "I am a pompous principal."
  • Alexis: Sit down! We are here to discuss your son's attitude.
  • Jim: My buddy? No way, he's the best, and kicks your a** westside! Ow!
  • Alexis: SILENCE! (slams the desk)
  • Tom: Someone's having their...
  • Alexis: Zip it! Now as I said, your son chews gum, reads comics during study, and talks about nothing but Dungeons and Daggers or whatever that stuff is gets grades from C- to C.
  • Jim: So what? Those are his hobbies. It's a free country. Let him be himself. You know, you want to educate children, but harsh rules and discipline bores them to death. The only free time with their friends is during lunch. You are not the boss of Tom or me, or any of those other poor kids you guys torment.
  • Alexis: Errr!!!! Tom! Don't you have a mother?!!!
  • Jim: My son doesn't deserve this.
  • Alexis: What?!!!
  • Jim: My son doesn't deserve to hear your voice.
  • Alexis: Errrrr!!!!!!!!!!
  • Jim: And you aren't a wild animal.
  • Alexis: GET OUT!
  • Jim: You don't have to yell, I am right here.
  • Alexis: GET OUT!!!
  • Jim: Okay! (pours beer on the floor)
  • Alexis: Do you realize who are you talking too?!!!
  • Jim: A brick wall.
  • Alexis: GET OUT!!!!!
  • Jim: I'm already out, dumba**! (slams doors)
  • Alexis: Eerrrrrrrr!!!!!! (pops a blood vessel)
  • Jim: See you later son.
  • Tom: Thanks dad!

At home, the four friends are playing Dungeons and Dragons, but should be studying for a exam the next day.

  • Tom: Well my day was rather pleasant.
  • Neil: Your dad is the coolest. I only have a mom, and she's mean.
  • Tom: I wish I had a mom.
  • John: My dad is tough on me.
  • Tom: Nuff family talk and more game talk.
  • Dave: It's 9:00, we should be getting home.
  • Tom: No guys.
  • Dave: But it will be the worst thing I ever did, since the day I peaked up the teacher's skirt last fall.
  • Tom: How about we just skip school and run around like most young'ns should do on a hot summer day in this modern wasteland.
  • John: What do you mean?
  • Tom: I want to be a warrior in the medieval times. Seriously, it sounds like so much fun.
  • Dave: I am tired, I am going home.
  • Neil: Yeah me too.
  • John: Me three.
  • Tom: We are going to fail. (falls asleep mysteriously)

Meanwhile, in Europe 580 A.D....

  • Merlin: We cannot survive with Gothicore terrorizing this kingdom and all of Europe and the other realms. We need a future warrior that is interested in fighting.
  • King Sirloin V: How are we going to doeth such thing?
  • Merlin: Magic of course, I am a wizard you know.
  • King Sirloin V: Okay.
  • Merlin: Well it seems that this young boy is having dreams of fighting evil in this lowly era. His name is Tom Coxley. And this one here, Dave Paluski, he is into it too, as well as this one Neil Narf and John Dexter.
  • King Sirloin V: Well, we should summon them.
  • Merlin: Exactly, Time Horse! Find these young boys and their right location and era, 1975. (horse takes off)

The next morning...

  • Jim: Yo, son, you gotta wake up. The exam is today.
  • Tom: (getting up) Errrr...man.
  • Jim: I'll be back Tom.
  • Tom: (sees a golden horse in his backyard) Huh?
  • Dave: Tom, come out!
  • Tom: What is this?
  • John: A time horse, it's gonna take us to the medieval times. Pack up and jump in the cart, it'll last till school ends!
  • Tom: I don't know guys, but...
  • Neil: Would you rather go there or to that crumby school?
  • Tom: Wait, I am going to pack up.

Then after packing up, the bus arrives...

  • Jim: Tom, where are ya buddy? The bus is here.
  • Tom: Quick horse, quick. (horse takes off)
  • Dave: Hang on tight! (the horse goes through time)
  • Neil: So long school!

Safari Sequence "Leo and Speedy Gaming On"

edit

This is the scene from my story where Leo and Speedy engage in a game of "CreWars." It's my parody of games like Heroscape and strategy board games. In the game, you place a piece on a hexagonal panel and it interlocks in, and there are many hexagonal squares on the board. There are so many different creature pieces and accessories. Leo and Speedy are huge fanatics.

  • Leo: Okay Speedster, now let's play a game of CreWars.
  • Speedy: This time, I'm gonna beat you.
  • Leo: Yeah right. I got the board.
  • Speedy: Okay, you move.
  • Leo: Alright. I pick the classic African lion with a quadruple battle ax.
  • Speedy: Hmmmm....I'll use my elephant with a a combination pole/chainsaw. I gotcha now Leo.
  • Leo: Oh yeah? Well I am placing down my element chip, vapor.
  • Speedy: No fair.
  • Leo: Your elephant and weapon has evaporated in a giant water puddle. Hehe.
  • Speedy: Fine, then I'll use my shark to get your unfortunate lion piece.
  • Leo: Hmmm. That is going to a fish out of water. I place a super sun to dry up that simple puddle.
  • Speedy: Okay, then I'll use a sun-absorbing mutant to stop you.
  • Leo: Guess what? You lost it, I'll your mutant.
  • Speedy: Okay, my new weapon, forget the shark, survive the blue whale!
  • Leo: Then I'll use poachers on a ship.
  • Speedy: Errr. That's it, I am summoning my T-rex. Your lion piece is pulp now Leo. I am going to beat you.
  • Leo: Relax, it's just a game. I summon 50 men, with double rocket launchers, heat-seaking!
  • Speedy: Oh no. No. No. I lost again!! I gotta admit, you're good at this.
  • Leo: See ya later, the trip is tomorrow, so I better get my rest.

Safari 2 Sequence "Traffic Tremor"

edit

The highway horror sequence.

  • Leo: Well brother, we must use the highway to get the job done.
  • Albi: Okay, there is a highway next to The Track Master Video Store and next to the Imax80 Theater.
  • Leo: Okay, let's take it.
  • Albi: Wow, this going along well.
  • Leo: (tripping and breaking his leg) Oh boy, brother, leave me here and you find the spot, and come back and get me, just do it. (falls asleep)
  • Albi: Okay, I better run, although I am fat.

Hours later

  • Leo: Ugh my head. (wakes up and traffic is rushing by) Oh no, I better warn Albi, but I have this flood of traffic to go through.

(to be continued)

Safari 2 "Fire"

edit

As Leo and his team leave, one and another one stays behind and starts something big. This gives the reader a sense that one of the characters, Sykes (a gemsbok) is unleashing his dark side. It starts in a cabin that Leo and his team stay in overnight in the woods of Canada.

  • Leo: Everyone up and out of bed, we have to get through the woods quickly.
  • Sykes: Oh Gabe, stay here.
  • Gabe: The sacrificial gazelle is at your service.
  • Sykes: Listen half pint, let's have some fun.
  • Gabe: But we gotta catch up with Leo and the guys. They are going to leave us standing.
  • Sykes: Trust me, they won't. (evil chuckle)
  • Gabe: So what are we going to do.
  • Sykes: Look at that thing. Nice isn't it?
  • Gabe: Oh, Leo told me about these, it's a microwave oven.
  • Sykes: Exactly, and what do you know, it has an exposed electrical line.
  • Gabe: Okay.
  • Sykes: This will be really fun. (evil chuckle)
  • Gabe: Oh cool, Leo said you can put these weiner thingies in a microwave oven.
  • Sykes: Yes, so let's put them in.
  • Gabe: We have to poke holes in them first.
  • Sykes: No no no, just throw them in.
  • Gabe: Okay! Found some more. This is fun.
  • Sykes: That's right, load that thing up.
  • Gabe: What next.
  • Sykes: And we turn the dial to 60 minutes, an hour, and then leave. Heheheheee.
  • Gabe: Cool, now let's reach the gang.
  • Sykes: Don't worry, we won't. (evil chuckle)
  • Albi: Wow, the woods are quite nice.
  • Leo: Yeah, it's way different from the savanna.
  • Albi: I wonder if we left anything back at the cabin.

Nearly an hour later, the hot dogs in the microwave back at the cabin are crowding it by inflating and inflating, while the wire seems to be emitting sparks, starting a small flare of fire, but as the microwave explodes, the wire and the outlet catches ablaze. The fire spreads across the counter and all the electric appliances, and then burning the log cabin and setting the whole thing ablaze. However, the forest isn't in trouble yet...

  • Leo: I smell something burning.
  • Albi: It wasn't me.
  • Leo: Not you, I smell a fire coming on.
  • Albi: Relax Leo, it's gonna be alright. (distant explosion) Or not.

Neon Mickey

Hey, guess what? Lots of people think this is color pattern of Neon Mickey, blue, purple, red, yellow, and green. But guess what? The Mickey turns bright orange, and then yellow! I noticed that. --Imax80 00:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

My TV Series

edit

Hi, I wanted to tell you about a TV series I have been working on. It's entitled Sillybonkers. It's about a brown labrador, a tabby cat, and a wolf. They are taken to somewhere in the USSR in circa 1990, somewhere cold and dreadful, where an idiotic scientist named Professor Boskov Mikahloshkotov, tries to turn them into deadly assassins, but...

They end up being three goofy animals. The labrador is obnoxious and yet very crazy, the cat is somewhat intellegent and calm, and the wolf is addicted to anything edible or drinkable and is screwed up in the head. Boskov hates his experiments.

To humiliate them, he names the labrador, Sillybonkers, and controls his mind so he keeps that name. He calls the cat, Wackno. And the wolf, Ajax. Then he tries to kill them. However, they escape and must find their place in the world. The first 10 episodes focus on them living in the Big Apple (New York City), and then to upstate New York, like in the woods.

They occasionally move more around the states on episodes 19 to 30.

After season one, they go worldwide. I think episode 51 (season 2 premiere) will have them in somewhere in the UK. Sound exciting? --Imax80 21:20, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pre-Certs paragraph moved

edit

I have moved your section about "pre-certs" from VHS to home video. The VHS article is about a technology for recording and playing back moving images. Topics regarding the home video business (pre-recorded cassettes or other media containing movies, etc.) belong in the home video article. The pre-certication paragraph is also not exclusive to VHS; it also applies to other formats such as Beta, Video 2000, CED discs, and Laserdiscs. Canadiana 00:01, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Greatest Race

edit

Hey Track Master, I am working on all new project that I have tried writing since 2002. It's entitled "The Greatest Race." It's about 4 high school students. They are poor students, and they race illegally at nighttime. They reside in Tokyo, Japan and they stay there. They never toured the world.

They are Ayato Kenshi, the fast paced and determined lead man, Kenji Hasanori, Ayato's best friend with a need for speed, Bill Beckinshire, the stock car driver who's parents are British, and Yakov Yaslvonic, the Russian rusher who's parents are from Russia. However, no sight of there parents is seen because they are all 17 years old and already drive four fast wicked cars.

After winning a race, the team gets an anonymous call telling them to join "The Big League World Race Championship of Illegal Racers." Ayato and the team are faced with a problem since school has started and they are expected to do better this year. Well, they skip school, and they enter the race starting in Alaska and then touring the globe and then back to Alaska. It's one heck of a world trip when they loose their luggage.

Other characters include Leon Wilder (the nice Hummer drive who wants to help the newcomers), Rusty John (a racist, rude redneck), Dusty John (Rusty's brother, just as bad as him), Steven Hard (the army-wannabe bully), Reginald Leonard (the nice British racer, who befriends the four newcomers), Mack Umbro (a not-so-intellegent truck driver), Dan Lorean (the cocky DeLorean driver), and several others. There about over 150 racers, or maybe more! --Imax80 18:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've been reading. Good stuff. :) --The Track Master 20:12, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Neon Mickey experience

edit

Well, I got my 1981 Davy Crockett video, and I played it. After the FBI screens, it stays black for nearly 5 seconds, and then Neon Mickey pops out at you. Weird. I saw it coming, it couldn't freak me, even I liked Neon Mickey.

Also, check the back of videotape, for you will see a small oval like shape, and it will say either "Made in USA", "Made in Korea", or "Made in Japan," check your older ones. --Imax80 17:05, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • My Magnetic Video The Sound of Music has a "Made in Japan" oval shape. --The Track Master 17:18, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Awesome. Oh, today is Thanksgiving in the United States. And remember, "Under the Clamshell" doesn't have to be rushed or perfect, we'll take our time, just like an actual movie production time.

Also, check my collection on my user page, it gets bigger and better. --Imax80 17:30, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • So what'll you get next? Black Hole? Sword in the Stone? Or perhaps you'd like the ultra-rare Snow White Live? --Ryanasaurus0077 19:40, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, take our time! I'll check. --The Track Master 22:23, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

WDHV: Under the Clamshell

edit

As told Vincent Track

Late Winter 1978. I am a huge Walt Disney fan, and with this new-fangled format called home video, I can see something by them and not wait for theatrical re-releases. I enter the video store and ask the clerk for Disney videos, he says "No", so I go around a DiscoVision bin, which is the new thing out. And I see something, it is "In Vacation with Mickey Mouse and Friends." I buy it.

I go home, play it in my DiscoVision player. It was fabulous. I was thinking, maybe me and my Disney buff friends can collect every new release of a Disney title, and we will, forever.

I waited until early 1979, until me and my three friends went to the that same video store, The Track Master Video Store that is. I walk in see new titles avaliable, I see "Kids is Kids", "At Home with Donald Duck" and "The Adventures of Chip N' Dale," all on DiscoVision. I spend my numerous amount of cash to buy these $9.99 discs. In May, we got two more DiscoVision titles, "The Coyote's Lament" and "Kidnapped."

The interesting thing about these dioscs were that a neon-like Mickey would rotate as "Walt Disney Home Entertainment" was animated onscreen, to start off each video, with a loud horn fanfare. Loud enough to make a coward jump. The logo would later be "Walt Disney Home Video" in 1983 or 1984.

But it wouldn't be until later on when more would come. We had all formats, VHS, Beta, DiscoVision, and we would get anything else coming out. In early 1980, I heard an announcement that Disney was teaming up with Fotomat, who I use to develop my photography, and I have been doing that since 1979. The two companies are going to release 13 titles on VHS and Beta for rental, in four cities, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Fortunately, we live in San Francisco. They came out in early March, we were the first ones to rent them. We tried coaxing these people to let us have these rentals and we would give them $500 for all of them. The man wouldn't let us. At least we were the first ones to rent them.

There were 13 titles, "Pete's Dragon," "The Black Hole", "The Love Bug", "Escape to Witch Mountain", "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier", "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", "The North Avenue Irregulars", "The Apple Dumpling Gang", "Hot Lead & Cold Feet", "On Vacation With Mickey Mouse and Friends", "Kids is Kids", and "The Adventures of Chip N' Dale." We were so sad we couldn't get them.

We had to wait until the fall of 1980 to get our hopes up. Disney had started their home video label, and all the Fotomat titles were made for sale in white cases with artwork. We rushed to buy all 13 of them, and we did well, they were all the Fotomat originals from that same rental store, still all in good condition. By this, all tapes were out nationwide.

We added them to the collection, right next all of our DiscoVision titles. In December, we used our holiday money to buy the new release,"Mary Poppins." So we had all titles from 1980. No new title wuld be out, so we waited throughout the beginning of 1981 when Disney was having rental promos.

By summer, "Dumbo" was released, but for rental only. We needed it so badly. We approached the salesman, and said,"We'll give you $500 for that Dumbo cassette." Oddly, he gave it to us since Disney wasn't working with Fotomat anymore. So we had it for ourselves.

  • Bravo!
    • Eh, how does this layout for the film work for you?
    • Start: Narration

    • End: It all gets dramatic

Several other cassettes were released in 1981. We ended up buying them all. We somewhat never got into pop culture of the 1980s, we just kept collecting. As 1982 rolled around, more titles would sold, we got our hands on every release. By X-Mas, we had every title so far.

1983 brought a few more titles in those white clamshells. Then we we waited until October to get our hands on cases with full artwork, "Tron", "Tex", and "Something Wicked this Way Comes." Then the new "Cartoon Classics" series hit the stores. We got all of those titles.

By 1984, Disney would expand their market, with more cassettes in white clamshells with artwork.

(gotta go right now) --Imax80 04:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

In 1984, we cleared the store of their first orders from the division. More Cartoon Classics titles were starting to hit sheleves in early 1984. We even got our hands on some long forgotten titles like "Gone are the Dayes" and others.

Originally, the white clamshells of the early 1980s had the words "HOME VIDEO" in a Pepsi-style font. Now, it was in a bubbly font of some sort. We picked up some old favorites like "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and others that were in those new style cases. No WDHV was embossed inside the cases anymore. They stopped in 1983.

We had found out that PAL tapes were starting to be released throughout the United Kingdom. I sent my pal Frank Filmer to the UK to get all those tapes and collect them. He came back with titles like "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" and a few others. We decided to make a plan with a store in the United Kingdom to send us every new release in the mail. And that deal worked out quite well.

When we still worked on our Cartoon Classics collection, the Limited Gold Editions flooded the stores. And when they would go, they would go forever. We had to get them before they disappeared. They were black clamshells with golden artwork embedded into them, unlike the white clamshell releases of the period. We had them all.

By the fall of 1984, Disney expanded into the collector's market as well. They offered 3 video tapes that were D-TV music videos, we got the volumes, "Pop & Rock", "Rock, Rhythm & Blues", and "Golden Oldies." We were proud of getting these three limited cassettes.

During the holiday season, Disney started a brand new line, again. This time, there was something in it for us. It was "The Classics." The Classics were going to release all the untouchable animated features on home video. "Robin Hood" would be the first of these titles on video, due to it being less risky to put out instead of future theatrical re-release.

We all recently saw "Robin Hood" in the theaters back in 1982 and on it's first release in November of 1973. We picked up the copy when it hit the stores December 6. Of course we would get a video on every format it was out on, and this title would soon be out on a lot of other format.

We waited until the summer of 1985 to expand our collection, in the meantime, we were getting our hands on the first "Cartoon Classics" tapes, then "Limited Gold Editions II" which were next in line. The Classics line had its continue with "Pinocchio" in July. We got that as soon as we could it was doing a lukewarm job due to the price of $79.95. We could afford that since we won $5,000,000 dollars on a Disney-themed game show back in 1975.

Disney films weren't packaged in the old white boxes with the Sorcerer Mickey on the top anymore, so we had to wait a while until they continued that. We waited a little longer for a new release. In the meantime, we took pictures of our collection and sent them off to museums worldwide.

In December, Disney put 21 of their current titles on sale for $29.95 each for a Christmas promotion. We got a newly repackaged "Dumbo" in The Classics line. We also got some titles like the "Walt Disney Comedy and Magic Revue" and a few Wonderful World of Disney tapes. We got some extra tapes in the mail from our friends in the United Kingdom.

However, we heard that Japan was starting to put out their titles on LaserDisc, so me and my friend Ron Rewind flew over to Japan and contacted a man running a LaserDisc superstore, and we made a deal with him that he would ship over his Laserdiscs and we used our stock of 5,000,000 Yen we got from a Japanese bank to pay him for every new video release.

We got back around January, as Disney was stopping their Christmas promotion.

    • Hola, Track Master. Wanna make a full-length CGI animation? The first guy should be portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, the second guy should be portrayed by Jonathan Lipnicki, and the Oracle should be portrayed by Shin Koyamada. Oh, and have Guy #1's lines spoken in English (and some in Spanish). And make Guy #2 Ron Rewind. Oh, and also have two of the video salesman be portrayed by Ken Watanabe and Robert Vaughn. That'll make it interesting.

Well, we'll see about the voices. :) --The Track Master 21:12, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Meanwhile, I'll be contributing to the script.
Vincent Track: ¡Hola!
Vaughn's salesman: And what are you two little rascals doing today, hmm?
Vincent Track: Dumbo.
Vaughn's salesman: What about it?
Vincent Track: Pagamos quinientos dolares para ese Dumbo casete.
Vaughn's salesman: Sold.
Vincent Track: ¡Gracias!
Vincent Track (narrating): When we got home, we encountered a real weird Japanese guy in our place.
Vincent Track: ¿Q-Q-Quién es?
Japanese guy: You can call me Oracle, Prophet of Japan who's been assigned by Kami-sama to your house to make sure your mission goes perfectly awesome.
Ron Rewind: O-O-Oracle? That's a weird name for an Asian.
Oracle: I'm from Nihon.
Vincent Track: - You mean Japan?
Oracle: Hai.
(Yes.)
Ron Rewind: What a surprise.
Oracle: Something tells me you guys should head on over to the local store tomorrow.
Vincent Track: ¿Mañana? ¿Por qué mañana?
Oracle: Because 6 other Disney videos released today are being sold there. Better hurry.
Vincent Track: Holy smokes! Guys, we've got a job to do. Better get some shuteye tonight, because tomorrow's gonna be a busy day!

That's my contribution to the script.

My Contribution-

  • Vincent Track: Hey man, we don't have the last Cartoon Classics Limited Gold Edition!
  • Ron Rewind: Why? What's the hurry Vin?
  • Vincent Track: Haven't you read that promo? When they are gone! They are gone!
  • Ron Rewind: It's July 1984, we gotta act fast before that last one disappears. Here's hoping it's not rare.
  • Oracle: It will be by the end of the year.
  • Vincent Track: Oh heck, we gotta save our money for Robin Hood, I heard it hits stores this fall. It will be pricey I bet.
  • Oracle: Although I can't tell the future, something tells me that...

Hmmmmm....

edit

I don't I think this first version of Under the Clamshell worked out well. Ryanasuarus0077 gave me a very good idea, the story seems to lack plot points, and hardly any action, just them buying videos. I think this should work out.

I am Vincent Track, a real Walt Disney fan, I see every Disney production made and my other fan friends are Ron Rewind, Ryan Reel, and Frank Film. In 1975, there was a little something unveiled in the world called home video. This format would grow in popularity over years. Back then, it wasn't so big.

The reason we bought a VHS player and a Beta player was because we were sure that Disney would release a videocassette to the format and we could get the opportunity to watch them. But we had to wait a while. In 1978, after seeing such films like "Return from Witch Mountain", "The Cat From Outer Space", and others, we headed to The Track Master video store.

  • Vin: What do you see?
  • Ron: No Disney here.
  • Frank: Check the VHS aisle, while I go to the DiscoVision section.
  • Vin: DiscoVision is the new thing, it just came out no too long ago.
  • Ron: Hey, look! (holds the 1978 LD of "On Vacation With Mickey Mouse and Friends")
  • Vin: Holy shitake mushrooms!
  • Ron: Only $9.95.
  • Vin: We can afford that because we won that trivia game show three times.
  • Cashier: That's a new release, you have a DiscoVision player?
  • Ryan: Yes we do. We are Disney nuts and are ecstatic about Disney titles available on video.
  • Cashier: This is the only copy left.
  • Mickey Mouse Fanatic: Hey I wan't that!
  • Cashier: Sold!
  • Ryan: Yes! We got it.
  • Mickey Mouse Fanatic: Get back here!
  • Ron: Let's make a run for it, to the car!

Nice, but finding actors is like catching a moonbeam in the sky...I have the software to do electronic voices, though... --The Track Master 16:02, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Does your CGI software allow you to make CGI replicas of the actors I mentioned? --Ryanasaurus0077 01:01, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • RS, the power of my software is gob-smacking. Getting hold of your own copy would be like stealing a prototype fighter plane. :) --The Track Master 01:09, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you find photos of Daniel Radcliffe (look for off-set photos of him), Jonathan Lipnicki, Shin Koyamada, Haley Joel Osment, Jesse McCartney, Ken Watanabe, Robert Vaughn, Michael Palin (look for a 1990s photo of him), and John Cleese (look for photos of him as Mr. Eric Praline) and make CGI images of them to look realistic? And do you have a music software? --Ryanasaurus0077 16:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, not like the copyright, I own the film. --The Track Master 16:04, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Next Section of the Story

edit

Hey Ryanasaurus0077, you and I can direct it too as so you know. And how are we going to get a cast like that?

Okay, onto the story once more.

The Mickey Mouse fanatic gives chase for our Laserdisc. We speed ahead in our car, as his dirty pickup comes closer and closer. However, we run it into some tire spikes. This was a big fat guy with a huge XXXL Mickey Mouse shirt, and looked like he meant business. I looked out of the rearview mirror.

Vin: Oh no! Here comes that guy! Ron: He's in a semi-truck!!! Frank: Quick, step on!! MM Fan: I want that disc!!! Frank: Hey look! That K-JO Electronics over there is having a DiscoVision blowout!!! MM Fan: Yay!!! Frank: Fool.

We get home safe and we play it. It was short though. By April 1979, more units were out, and yet more titles, we went to the video store. On the shelves were "Kids is Kids", "At Home with Donald Duck", and "The Adventures of Chip N' Dale."

  • Vin: Okay, all titles taken.
  • MM Fan: Hey!!
  • Frank: Oh no no no.
  • MM Fan: Gimme. (takes discs from Vin) That's for foolin' me!
  • Vin: You snooze, ya lose.
  • MM Fan: How dare you!! (punches Vin)
  • Ryan: Hey, don't hit Vin like that!
  • MM Fan: I want my disc!
  • Ron: It was ours.
  • MM Fan: It was mine!! MINE! MINE! MINE!!! DO YOU HEAR ME?!!! IT WAS MINE!!!!! NOW GET OUT OF * MY SIGHT!!!!!
  • Cashier: Take it outside.
  • MM Fan: Rrrrr! I want revenge!

We got our disc safely, and went home. Next month, "The Coyote's Lament" was released, and then a Disney movie, "Kidnapped." Our DiscoVision collection was complete, and we haven't been seeing that Mickey Mouse Fan ever since.

--Imax80 22:54, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • My turn.
Vin: (narrating) Later we learned that the Mickey Mouse Fan was in reality a Mr. Eric Praline, the guy who had that dead parrot.
Ron: Holy shitake mashrooms!
Ryan: You mean that rabid bada**?
Vin: Talking about him!
Mr. Eric Praline: I've found you, a**holes.
Frank: Sorry, Mr. Praline, but first come, first serve.
Vin: (narrating) Mr. Praline was back, and was he ever mad!
Vin: Get the h*ll out of here, Mr. praline. You have no right to avenge yourself over that stupid disc. NOW PISS OFF!
Mr. Eric Praline: LIKE H*LL I WILL!
Vin: (punches him in the stomach) That's punishment for last time! I hope you have a worse experience at buying DiscoVision discs from Disney than you had with that dead parrot of yours.
Mr. Eric Praline: $#%&! I'm off to England! BUT FIRST I WILL TRAVEL THE WHOLE D*MN U.S. OF A. FOR THAT STUPID DISC! D*MN YOU ALL TO H*LL! (storms off in a huff)
Ryan: You did it, Vinny! Now that disc is securely in our hands!
Vin: Gracias, mis amigos.
Ron: De nada.

You were wrong, Imax80, the MM Fan and the 4 heroes really DID meet again when the MM Fan, who was really Mr. Eric Praline, stormed Vin's house. --Ryanasaurus0077 12:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Oh, I meant to say probably R (R18+ is like NC-17 here in the US), but I wonder what the British Film Censors would give it. I know that Safari and Warocalypse are up for R ratings here in the US. --Imax80 21:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Should they have, they would have it as 15. --The Track Master 22:03, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Hey Track, since you like animation and all, do you ever watch anything on Cartoon Network? Cartoon Network has some of finest animated TV shows on this generation. My favorite Cartoon Network original shows would have to be Codename: Kids Next Door, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy, and some other shows. --Imax80 17:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I do watch CN, occasionaly. My favourite would be Dexter's Laboratory. Have you heard of Five US? --The Track Master 20:41, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • That's cool. I am a fan. What is your favorite CN episodes of all time? For Foster's, like the very first episode that was an hour long, and the one "Store Wars", that was the mall episode where Bloo kept calling people rip-off artists. For Codename: Kids Next Door, I like the episode, "Operation: O.F.F.I.C.E" where Numbah 4 is at his dad's workplace on "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day," and for Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy, like the episodes Pain in the Ed (the episode where Ed is forced to practice violin), A Glass of Warm Ed (the episode where Ed is sleep-walking and eating everyone's food), and Little Ed Blue (the one where Ed is in a bad mood). Dexter's Lab is a great show, I agree. I never heard of Five US.

It's a TV channel they have in the UK, but as it suggests, it has US shows. Blue Mountain, performing live in UK! ^_^ --The Track Master 16:05, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ending to UTC

edit

Hey, I was thinking of an ending to "Under the Clamshell", where all the Disney videos slideshow quickly onscreen as the main characters all yell "We did it!"
