Facebook edits

edit

First of all, wonderful job on Facebook's audio version; it sounds as if someone from NPR narrates it. Now let's talk edits: I removed some of those sections begrudgingly because they appear not to contain reliable sources. Aren't almost all of those references blogs?--The lorax (talk) 03:13, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I listen to Morning Edition almost daily. I really liked the rewrite you did of the section where the Catholic bishop had issues with Facebook. It reads much better than the original. The only reason I disagreed with you is b/c there is a cite to the BBC in there. Perhaps the whole section could be re-written in a calmer tone with the information from the blogs removed.--The Jacobin (talk) 21:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: Kelly Middle School

edit

When I de-Prod and propose a solution, I expect the Prod-er to assess, endorse, and enact, or contest it; as there are numerous other 'Kelly Middle School's, but no other in Connecticut, I suggested the move, as a disambiguation page should eventually be there, rather than ~(disambiguation), unless one becomes notable (none currently are), but when I go to the effort of trying to justify it for groups of schools that have no articles, it gets ignored. Athletic Acheivements Missing?

edit

I have spent countless hours of research to include all state titles of each Texas High School and I find that all of the titles for Abernathy (in girls basketball) are completely missing!!! I understand that some want to consolidate all info for schools or school districts into one article, but this is really ridiculous in my view - I hate seeing my hard effort wiped out over the need to consolidate information. Most people have an association with their high school, NOT their school district. I would like to see a much better way of handling this - PLEASE! Indyjrg1762 (talk) 02:16, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I must be missing something. I have made extensive changes to Abernathy Independent School District, but I can't see anywhere in the history before I started making changes that there were titles deleted. Abernathy High School had no page at all, so I created a redirect to the district page. Did I do this to another district/school? The Jacobin (talk) 02:39, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have created over 200 Texas High School articles and several of the schools that I know who have state titles are missing from those articles you have modified. I am checking to see for sure which ones. Indyjrg1762 (talk) 03:01, 15 August 2012 (UTC) So far, the only ones I can find are the following: Brenham, Bremond, Bridge City, Calvert, Jayton and Nocona. I have not done articles for these, but know from UIL records that they have won state titles. Also, I have found MaxPreps to be very inaccurate in regards to school sports. I have only used UIL records, Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Lone Star Football Network as these are highly reliable. My main thing is that every school with high school grades gets recognition whenever possible - many of these schools have earned accolades many many decades ago and are worth including. I hope we could work together on this as we have the same passion for Texas schools (former educator here). Indyjrg1762 (talk) 03:26, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for all the work you have put into these articles. The state title information definitely enriches them. I look forward to seeing more of your additions in the future. Just for the record, I checked all the pages you mentioned. The district pages for Brenham, Bremond, Bridge City, Calvert, Jayton, and Nocona were each missing state title information before my edits and I don't see that information in the history logs for the past year before my first edit. The high school pages for each were either already redirected to the district page or I created a redirect to those pages. I did not delete your state title additions, but I know that the pages will be better when you put them there. The Jacobin (talk) 13:25, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

What would you think if I added infoboxes for the schools that have been redireted? I want each high school to have complete information and I would be willing to do this as I have time. My goal would be that there would be a full section solely devoted to school achievements and notable accomplishments. I really want to promote each school's identity. Hi. When you recently edited Adrian Independent School District, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Adrian High School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

FYI: Allen Independent School District

edit

I've nominated for deletion the 2 sub-stub articles of individual schools for Allen ISD. I grew up and went to the schools so can assert that they don't warrant individual articles. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
