May 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Thing (film) has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwAk1-QmBvw. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 05:58, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Thing (film). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 08:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Regarding your recent addition of Category:Films set in the 2020s to The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines: This category is inappropriate for these articles and has been removed. As the category page states, it is "for films with a significant portion set in the 2020s". Of these 3 films, only The Terminator has a scene set in the 2020s, and it is merely the opening few minutes, not a significant portion of the film (95% of the film is set in the 1980s). T2 and T3 do not have any scenes set in the 2020s; they take place entirely in the 1990s and 2000s, respectively. When applying categories, please read the category descriptions first and ensure that the article actually fits that category. For more information, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Categorization, and feel free to ask questions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films/Categorization. Thank you. --IllaZilla (talk) 17:16, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

August 2010 edit

In a recent edit to the page List of Mr. Bean episodes ‎, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. Hertz1888 (talk) 12:36, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

November 2010

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of previously published material to our articles as you apparently did to List of fictional elements, materials, isotopes and atomic particles. Please cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. -- Doniago (talk) 15:34, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
