Edit war target edit

Hi. I got your note. Sorry to take so long to reply. I missed it at first because of later edits, and then I got caught up in real-life concerns (sick kids!). If I'm not too late, I'll try to address your concerns from both the content aspect and the behavioural one.

I've taken a look at the Future Cops‎ article. I'm not an expert in the field, but my first impression is that it would be reasonable for an article like Street Fighter (series) (or perhaps Street Fighter (film)) to have a short reference to Future Cops in a section like "References in popular culture". There must be a lot of derivatives of Street Fighter that would be worth documenting. (You may also want to have a better reference for the fact that Future Cops is derived from Street Fighter, as right now it is only supported by a user comment in IMDB, which is not a very reliable source.) If you want to draw a parallel to every character, then the Future Cops article is the place to do it. At the very most, you might link to Future Cops (or the character's subsection) in a "See also" section on the character's page. I say this because I feel that the parallels between the characters, and the character development in Future Cops, is really far more about the film Future Cops than it is about the Street Fighter characters.

Regarding the edit war, well as I'm sure you know, it does take two to tango, but this seems to have been a fairly low-level one. If you find yourself in a similar situation in future, then there are lots of helpful situations at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. The key things are: use talk pages; and always be prepared to consider "I might be wrong." There's no rule against removing comments from from your user talk page, but many people do find it discourteous, especially if you also fail to respond. Console yourself with the fact that it's clear proof that the recipient read the comment.

I hope this helps. One more thing, if you want help improving your Future Cops article, you could stop by Wikipedia:WikiProject Films. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 20:03, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your input, I have already decided to let sleeping dogs lie. I did use the user's talk pages, and they deleted my comments, in all I think 4 different users were deleting my info from the pages, all of whom know each other. It seemed they had got some other users in trouble, (I noticed when looking for outside help and reviewing their talk pages) and I decided to let it go.

People reacting in this way is common on wikipedia, so I just made the Future Cops page as they suggested, and I am here by done with the whole subject. Thanks for getting back to me though. TheWrench (talk) 19:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

That is not entirely true. I for one have seen JuJube and Sesshomaru around while editing, but in no way are we editing in concert, backing each other up, which you seem to suggest. Also, I have never deleted your comments from my talk page, nor will I ever. I will archive them in due time though. I suggest you assume a little more good faith from the editors you disagree with.--Atlan (talk) 13:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
So you are saying right here, where I left a comment on your talk page, and you "undid" it, that is not you deleting my comment from your talk page?

(cur) (last) 00:47, 30 March 2008 Atlan (Talk | contribs) (4,522 bytes) (rp) (undo) (cur) (last) 00:39, 30 March 2008 TheWrench (Talk | contribs) (4,015 bytes) (→Future Cops and Various Street Figher Info) (undo) Atlan, I suggest you let it go, as I have, and stop pressing a dead issue. TheWrench (talk) 17:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uh, what are you talking about? The (rp) right there in that sloppy copy-paste is my edit summary and stands for "reply". A simple look at my talk page shows that your comments are still right there. Here is the diff of that particular edit: [1]. Notice the addition of a comment, rather than the removal of one. You could of course have simply pressed (last) to see for yourself. Also, every edit in a page history says (undo) at the end. If you press it, you can undo that particular edit, it doesn't mean that edit is an undo action. Now here is the diff of someone who actually did remove comments: [2]. It's you deleting mine, among others. So here you are blaming me for removing your comments, while in fact you are the one that does so. Rather ironic.--Atlan (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
To conclude on a lighter note, I consider the Future Cops issue resolved as well. I'm sorry you feel that other editors ganged up on you. That was certainly not my intention and I don't think any of the other editors' as well. Don't let setbacks such as there sour your experience here, we've all had them at some point. Feel free to come to my talk page if you need any help in the future. Happy editing!--Atlan (talk) 19:59, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
You may have put (RP) for reply, but if you compare versions of your talk page, you can clearly see that my comment was removed. I, in turn, removed the comments on my page because they were useless arguing, much like what you are doing now. I made the future cops page as my final edit, because wikipedia is obviously an attempted communist hierarchy, where editors can choose to removed and ignore information if it's something they don't agree with or didn't know first. Then attempt to ban users from the site who don't agree with them. But I do have to thank you and your friends, Atlan; because of your constant irritation I have had no problems staying awake in the morning. If I had any questions about editing, I doubt the knowledge and professionalism you have shown in this situation would make me turn to you. Feel free to stop commenting on my talk page, and move on to your next victim. TheWrench (talk) 16:43, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
You either need to have your eyes checked, or you're incredibly dense if you can't even see that in my response, I only added a comment of mine and removed nothing of yours. I hope it's the former, at least that can be cured. It's really mind-boggling that you insist that I removed your comment, even though IT IS STILL RIGHT THERE ON MY TALK PAGE, RIGHT NOW! Add to that that lovely disposition of yours, sheesh! Good luck with that in real life.--Atlan (talk) 17:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think a Blah-Blah-Blah is in order. I have made a concious decision NOT to flood your talk page with trivial and childish arguing, you clearly didn't even think to show me that same courtesy, you obviously have issues with "having the last word" which explains a lot. And if you were offended by my disposition please refer back to the many condescending quips in every one of your messages. It's time to put on your big boy pants, Atlan, and move on. This is my talk page, and you're not going to have the last word here. TheWrench (talk) 17:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
