- No problem. I saw your post on User talk:Psypherium and when I checked it out and reviewed your work on List of Sonic the Hedgehog video game characters it was pretty clear that your edits were in good faith and that User:Psypherium was confusing you with someone else who had edited that page as he or she cited this edit, which wasn't yours. I assume it was just an error on his/her part. Otherwise I do hope you will forgive this "sticky start" and carry on helping us build the encyclopedia! - Ahunt (talk) 18:04, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding that. When I saw his message at my talk page, I became disappointed and thought,“What if Wikipedia is just not a place for me?” I understand that he or she thought bad of me at first, but I mean good. And maybe him reverting my edits is for the best. I will not edit unless my sources are TRULY reliable, or if the article is incorrect. - Actually it looks like it was User:Sergecross73 who removed your text in that article with the edit summary "Restoring sourced info, removing info unsourced or overly detailed.." I would suggest having a read though WP:V, which is the standard for adding information to articles, basically it requires reliable references for substantive additions, meaning beyond rewording or fixing spelling and grammar errors. As for your other question, most songs can't be inserted in Wikipedia as they are copyrighted material. It is possible to add freely licensed music to Wiki Commons and then insert ito into articles, provided that is justified for the article content. You can see how that was done by the example in this article O Canada, which is someone's own playing of a public domain song, released under a pubic domain declaration. - Ahunt (talk) 18:36, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

- No problem - it is good to ask questions! Wikipedia is a pretty mature project these days so it is hard to start from scratch at this point in time and catch-up on everything that has already been done. It is fine to write about subjects that are copyrighted works, like books, magazines or songs as information cannot be copyrighted, only specific words, song lyrics and notes, etc. Information about a book cannot be copyrighted, but the actual, exact words in the book are copyrighted. This means that if you write about a song in your own words (hopefully paraphrased from a reliable source) then that is fine, you just can't copy out the actual song lyrics. I hope that makes sense? In the case I gave above a wiki-editor recorded his own version of a old song for which the copyright had long ago expired. His version of it would have been copyrighted then, but he released it as public domain, which is why it is there embedded in the article. - Sorry if that wasn't clear - lyrics are copyrighted, just like the text from a book is (unless released under a permissive licence). Copyrighted material can be used in Wikipedia under the "fair use" provisions of US copyright law (Wikipedia's servers are in Florida, so US law applies). Fair use is a complex subject, particularly what is acceptable and isn't on Wikipedia. It is explained at WP:FAIRUSE.- Ahunt (talk) 00:03, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
