thans and question

Dear SandDoctor,

Thanks for your advises/reactions. To be sure that I don't maken make the same mistake again (more little changes, what could be seen as tendentious editing ), I would like to know if it's okay now ans if not, what do I have to change or maybe deleate.

Thank you so much,

Bot query

Hey, any update on the bot (US/UK)? Does it need anything else to start operation? --Gonnym (talk) 09:27, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Gonnym! Thanks for reaching out. It does not need anything else, I just haven't had the chance (time) to start/semi-supervise it yet. I was planning to start it up in around 12 hours and will keep that timetable (can't do it any earlier unfortunately). Sorry for the delay. --TheSandDoctor Talk 12:54, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
No rush at all, just wanted to make sure it wasn't stuck waiting on something that I could help with. Thanks again for doing this. --Gonnym (talk) 13:11, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
Seems the bot missed some articles. Were they not on the list or was there a different reason? --Gonnym (talk) 09:41, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
Extended content
Gonnym, many of those are listed at User:DannyS712/sandbox4, which is a list of articles that need to be moved manually, as the American/British version already exists as a redirect and thus wasn't covered by this bot. -- /Alex/21 12:08, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for the clarification Alex! --Gonnym (talk) 12:17, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
@Gonnym: User:Alex 21/sandbox2 did not contain any of those. The sandbox is what the bot ran off of. --TheSandDoctor Talk 12:39, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
The above pages have all been moved or technical-requested for moving. -- /Alex/21 04:55, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
@Alex 21: Sounds good. If any are left by the time I am back around & able to edit/move pages (ie not on mobile), I will go ahead and do the remaining. Sound good? —TheSandDoctor Talk 14:43, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

In addition to moving pages, a/the bot needs to edit articles to remove the new redirects. Transclusion on episode list series overview tables are all affected. Also summaries don't appear in affected season articles now until their Episode list templates are edited. -- Wikipedical (talk) 20:33, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

I agree, Wikipedical. This is another thing which I shall work on programming/filing this weekend. I will keep you up to date if you like. —TheSandDoctor Talk 14:43, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
If you're curious, there's a list of things we need to update at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (television)#Manual updates. -- /Alex/21 08:37, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

  Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC seeks to clarify whether WP:OUTING should include information on just the English Wikipedia or any Wikimedia project.
  • An RfC on WT:RfA concluded that Requests for adminship and bureaucratship are discussions seeking to build consensus.
  • An RfC proposal to make the templates for discussion (TfD) process more like the requested moves (RM) process, i.e. "as a clearinghouse of template discussions", was closed as successful.

  Technical news

  • The CSD feature of Twinkle now allows admins to notify page creators of deletion if the page had not been tagged. The default behavior matches that of tagging notifications, and replaces the ability to open the user talk page upon deletion. You can customize which criteria receive notifications in your Twinkle preferences: look for Notify page creator when deleting under these criteria.
  • Twinkle's d-batch (batch delete) feature now supports deleting subpages (and related redirects and talk pages) of each page. The pages will be listed first but use with caution! The und-batch (batch undelete) option can now also restore talk pages.

Your draft article, Draft:2019-20 Vancouver Canucks season

Hello, TheSandDoctor. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2019-20 Vancouver Canucks season".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (Talk) 10:43, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

2018–19 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship

Hello. Is it possible to restore 2018–19 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship article? Despite the article, was created by a user who was blocked for sock-puppetry, it was the notable article about the series which is covered by such sources as motorsport.com. Corvus tristis (talk) 17:55, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Corvus tristis, 5 of the 8 edits (the others clerical and also including the nomination) were by the blocked user in violation of said block. The only sources present within the article were Business Standard, and two "Formulascout" pages (1, 2). There were no significant contributions to it by others. Will add more later, but I have to run at the moment. --TheSandDoctor Talk 00:37, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
I mean not the sources which were present in the article, I mean that motorsport.com covers MRF Challenge 2000. Also we have another MRF Challenge season articles, which hadn't raised any doubts about their notability. Corvus tristis (talk) 15:04, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
@Corvus tristis:   Done. Restored based on good faith, notability, your good standing, and (a little) damn the torpedoes.   --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:03, 13 June 2019 (UTC)

Congratulations!!

Wishing TheSandDoctor a very happy adminship anniversary on behalf of the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Mjs1991 (talk) 04:27, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you, Mjs1991! My honest first reaction was "it can't be that long!" and you actually had me looking at my RfA dates. Sure enough, you were correct.   Time sure does fly! Thanks again!

I once again extend my thanks to There'sNoTime for his comments via email October 2017 and his suggestion that I run after encountering my account by chance and deciding to review. I also thank Mz7 and SoWhy once again for their nomination for adminship (TNT was planned to be a third co-nom, but did not have the time unfortunately). Of course, my thanks goes to the community and those who participated at the RfA, regardless of which side they fell. All provided valuable feedback I like to think I have incorporated in my editing and approach to things. I have certainly learned a lot in my time here so far. Your (Mjs1991) bringing this up has actually made me start reviewing/reflecting my RfA for the first time in a while, so I thank you for that. I strongly believe that it is good to review these sorts of things from time to time, as was reaffirmed by Geekdiva and others during my RfA. Regards, TheSandDoctor Talk 05:30, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019

Hello TheSandDoctor/Archives/2019,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Other news

School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.

Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.
