Autoconfirmed! edit

Hi Ella! Sorry it took me so long to reply - I had my notification emails going to an email address I check too rarely (updated now!)

Anyway - don't worry! Basically when we have new editors at a workshop we often set attendees accounts as confirmed at the start, then once people like yourself have done more than ten edits and the account is more than four days old the system will automatically set their accounts as Autconfirmed.

Accounts that are either autoconfirmed or confirmed mean an editor can add external links to articles without the interruption of having to type "captchas", and also move pages. Most importantly of all, we have an anti vandalism filter that limits the number of edits per minute that are accepted from an IP address from editors who are not yet confirmed - so it prevents this happening at our events!

There is no benefit to an account being BOTH confirmed and auto confirmed (they confer the same privileges). Whereas someone might at some point be looking at the "confirmed" accounts to work out why they have not yet done ten edits and follow up with them. For example, removing the Confirmed flag from accounts such as yours would enable someone to send a survey to accounts that were over a week old, had Confirmed status but had not yet done ten edits.

Does that make sense? Basically you're good to go and the 'confirmed' status was something we put in place for the training session attendees to make sure you had no troubled editing!

Hope you're getting on well meanwhile :D DO flag up anything you're working on if you want a hand pulling it together or adding links etc! Leela0808 (talk) 16:55, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
