Chickens edit

Hi – A couple of things about your comment on Talk:Chicken.

Firstly, I know you didn't mean it this way, but writing in capitals on discussion pages (not just in Wikipedia) is considered to be "shouting" by many people, and so generally we try to avoid it. It's not necessary to use "big" text either.

Secondly, your suggestion about acceptable feedstuffs for chickens needs to be treated with a little care to keep within Wikipedia conventions. (Have a look at What Wikipedia is Not.) We can include information about chicken diet, but it should be factual reporting of published information, and the article must not become a guide on how to keep chickens – that belongs on other web pages, such as Wikihow. For example, we could say "chickens are commonly fed grain" or "grain usually forms up to xx % of the diet of commercial chickens", but we couldn't say "chickens should be fed xx % grain", nor other instructions or guidance.

Finally, welcome to Wikipedia! Richard New Forest (talk) 20:58, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
