Yo! I'm TheOneTrueDJ! At my university, I am the DJ who is always asked to play music at all the parties we have throughout the year for things (such as Christmas break, Spring Break, etc)- hence the name! I may be a student full-time, but I am also a DJ in my spare time, and I enjoy it quite a bit!

But enough about me for now- the reason I am currently here is because the IP address for my university has been blocked, and since we have a large group of people who have Wikipedia accounts here, plenty of people are suddenly unable to edit pages or do most things here on wikipedia. I am one of those people! The only thing I have been able to do is edit my talk page- I even had to specifically request this account as I was unable to make one myself as a result of the IP address block! Since I do not know if I should share the IP address here or not, please let me know if I should or not (or where I should share it if I shouldn't share it here) so that I can get this sorted out ASAP! I already filed an appeal with the UTRS system, and while they were helpful, they were unaware of the fact that I was unable to edit from my account here, and that many others have had the same thing. I had do do a little extra research to find out that I had to add this to my talk page in order to possibly get unblocked that way! It's no big deal though, as provided this gets sorted out, then all that research will have been well worth it! TheOneTrueDJ (talk) 22:56, 26 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering if my school's IP address could either be unblocked, or if that is not possible, if I could get IP address exemption. If the latter is possible, then I can let the other people in my group who have been affected by this IP block know so that they'll know what to do in order to get exemption themselves. As there over over a thousand students who attend this university at different times (It used to be all at once up until the pandemic happened), I don't know exactly how many people have been affected by this block, but I DO know that since it's a large group of people who have Wikipedia accounts (this group has been meeting at different times with different people as a result of the pandemic as well), it's likely a lot of people who are being affected by this IP address block! Now, I am unaware of the reason as to exactly why our IP address has been blocked, but I may have to start asking the group members whom I keep in contact with if they know anything about that. For that reason, if it's possible for our IP address to become unblocked entirely, that would be preferred, but if that is not possible then IP address exemption would be the next best thing! I am only asking for IP address exemption for myself for the time being, although, if I can receive that then I will be sure to let my group know exactly what they can do to receive exemption themselves. If there's anything else that I should do upon receiving IP address exemption, please let me know that as well so that I can be sure to pass on that information to the other people in the group who have been negatively affected by this IP address block! One final thing- I almost forgot to mention that as a result of my school's IP address block, I am currently unable to make my own user page! So, that's why I currently don't have one! I keep getting a permission error stating that editing from my IP address has been blocked (disabled) by a specific user. Because of that, that's why I am here trying to appeal it! Thank you for your time and consideration! TheOneTrueDJ (talk) 22:56, 26 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have no idea what the admins are talking about when they're calling my account a "sockpuppet" to some random person I've never met before! I attend a massive university with over 2000 students registered here- I think it's safe to say that I'm not going to know everyone here! The main reason I'm appealing this block is because many of the students- including myself- are unable to access anything due to our school's IP address being blocked! That's the main problem here! It's not my fault that every time I've tried to appeal this block via the UTRS or whatever it's called, it has not given me the chance to add in my school's IP address! The only reason I've even made this many appeals to begin with is because this issue started happening months ago, and I thought it'd have been worked out by now! I do appreciate the fact that I'm able to appeal this on my own talk page again though, as I wasn't able to do that for many months! In all honesty, I don't even necessarily plan on keeping this account around after this issue is eventually dealt with now! I still could keep it, but my main purpose of making this account was solely to have a way of telling my fellow students that they can request IP block exemption in order to get around the block should they need it! I had planned on keeping this account before that, but this process has been so physically and mentally exhausting that I'm not as sure now! Still, my school left me in charge of fixing this issue, and I intend to do so! I can't let my school down, as they're counting on me to fix this before the school fully reopens as soon as the whole pandemic is eventually over! I promised them I'd get it done! My entire education is on the line at this point, as my school is very strict about people making due on their promises! So, all I ask is for some assistance here- that's all! I'm not sure if I should be including my school's IP address here, so until I hear from somebody involving that, I'm not going to put that here, as I REALLY don't want to accidentally do something that I shouldn't have done! The only reason that I've had to copy and paste all of my previous appeals is because this entire process has been so incredibly exhausting it's not even funny! I wouldn't have done so otherwise! Thanks for understanding!

No. You're obviously a sock puppet. It's quite clear from the system logs. NinjaRobotPirate (talk)

Yes, we need to know the IP address involved. If you don't want to post it here, you may use WP:UTRS to share it. If you represent the school, you must review conflict of interest and paid editing. Wikipedia is not responsible for you over-promising things to your school. 331dot (talk) 17:30, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@331dot: If it's okay for me to share my school's IP address here, then I have no issues doing so! I just didn't want to share it and then find out later I wasn't supposed to, as that can happen! My school's IP address is 24.78.147.79! I also reviewed to two links you sent me, and I should clarify that I am NOT making any money for this! I just represent the school's student body- not the school itself! The student body is part of the school, but we're just the students! The professors and the other staff working there operate on their own- I don't represent them or anything like that! I should've clarified that much- apologies! I also never said or thought that it was Wikipedia's responsibility for me over-promising things to my school, and I apologize if it came across that way! Yes, my school takes promises VERY seriously, but I'm more hard on myself than they are on me- it was the student body that asked me to do this for them- not the teachers! I am not being paid for this, nor am I trying to promote my university in any way! So, this isn't really a conflict of interest thing either! Again, I should've clarified that! That's my bad! I was in a bit of a rush earlier, so I couldn't clarify those things as much as I wanted to! Meetings- ugh! Even when those meetings are strictly online meetings with everybody in separate rooms, I still can't stand them! LOL! Thanks for taking the time to reply to me! IP block exemption for myself and my school's students. This is getting ridiculous- to wrongfully the IP address of a school that requires the use of their IP address on a daily basis for this long is unacceptable! I shouldn't have to keep filing appeals like this, but my school's counting on me, so I will do as I must. TheOneTrueDJ (talk) 04:43, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

@NinjaRobotPirate: What are you talking about? How can I be a "sockpuppet" if for one, I don't even know what a "sockpuppet" even is, and two, my university has been unable to do anything with their IP address ever since is was blocked for no reason by Wikipedia? That makes no sense whatsoever! I also have no idea what you mean by "system logs"! What system logs? Even if you did have system logs, they'd be incorrect, because what we're dealing with is a massive university-wide IP address block that we at the school have no idea as to why it even happened in the first place! You may be calling me a sockpuppet of another person's account, but I have no idea who that other person even is! Even if it's somebody who attends the same school as I do, the school is so massive that it's literally impossible for me to know everybody at this school! Plus, with everything going on right now, we haven't even been able to attend that school all that much lately, but since the students still live in dorms on campus, we're still being affected by this unnecessary and unwarranted IP address block! But that last part doesn't even necessarily matter all that much anyway, as this IP address block happened before the pandemic hit, and so I've been tasked with getting this issue sorted out ever since! I may have had to make an account from the same IP address, but that doesn't mean anything since the school is so huge! Even if I knew what a "sockpuppet" was, the fact that I had to make an account from the same IP address is only because I'm part of the same school with the IP address that you wrongfully blocked! That also doesn't mean I know the person who I am being falsely accused of being a sockpuppet of either! Your system logs are clearly unable to tell the difference, and so for that reason they cannot be taken seriously! So, because of that, I require an explanation as to why you are wrongfully accusing me of being a sockpuppet so that I can at least report that much to my school so that they can decide what the next course of action will be! I can't guarantee that that next course of action will be nice either- as much as I hope it would be, because as I said to another user who responded to me, my school operates on their own accord, and unless we get the result we're looking for, this will even be out of my hair! If the school themselves gets involved, they will NOT take no for an answer! Of course, I'd like to avoid having my school get involved as much as possible, so I'd prefer to get this issue figured out and fixed before that would have to happen! That's why I'd like an explanation as to why your system logs are so obsessed with labelling me as something that I am not! I will await your explanation for as long as my school says, after which they will have no choice but to get involved. You don't want that, and neither do I! That's why I will wait for your explanation for as long as I possibly can, but if this issue isn't sorted out by the time classes resume in the new year, then I will have to report this to my school and then they will have to get involved! I can understand that a mistake like this could take a while to get sorted out, but going on for THIS long- pandemic or not, is going overboard! I hope to receive your response ASAP, and I will respond to it accordingly! TheOneTrueDJ (talk) 04:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Appeal via UTRS from your original account and ask for the standard offer in six months. It worked for SithJarJar666, and it can work for you, too. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:00, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@NinjaRobotPirate: While this is my original account, my school has had some people from this same IP address blocked for much longer than 6 months! Will that still work for them? This has been going on for quite a while now, so it's been much longer than 6 months! I had to make this account solely to try and get down to the bottom of why our IP address has been blocked for this long! Despite that, since my account here obviously comes from the same IP address that's blocked for some reason, I haven't even been able to edit anything besides my own talk page for the entire time I've had this account, so I've still been affected by this block either way! For now, I am undecided as to if I plan on keeping my own account at this point! I originally had planned on it, but since this entire appeal process has been both physically and mentally exhausting for me, I'm not sure now. I may still keep it, but I may not! Regardless of whether I do or not, I want to make sure that this standard offer will actually work for those involved! From what I've been told by my school, there have been reports of people who are blocked who have been trying to appeal their accounts via the UTRS, and they've failed every time! Not only that, according to the reports from my school, some of these people- who are mainly students but also includes teachers- who have tried to appeal their account suspensions so many times from the UTRS that they've been told that they have been banned from using the UTRS again, and when they've tried to explain the situation, they've been ignored. That was the information given to me when I was asked to assist in this, and so for that reason I want to know if that "standard offer" will even work for those who are affected by the UTRS block, as they also cannot appeal via their talk pages due to having their access to that supposedly revoked as a result of the UTRS block! They were NOT trying to overuse the UTRS either- they were honestly just trying to appeal their accounts and they ended up having that happen to them! Just because they had to use the UTRS appeal system multiple times does NOT mean that they were doing that intentionally or were trying to annoy the admins or whoever is responsible for reading the appeals made by the UTRS! I do not believe that they should've had their talk page access revoked or have been prevented from using the UTRS because of that either! That's why if this would be guaranteed to work for them (or at the very least have a pretty solid chance) then I will be sure to put out the message to the student body so that they know what to do in this situation! I am also unsure if it will work for me as well, as I have been unable to edit or do anything else here expect appeal on my own talk page for all this time, but if it would work for me, I may consider keeping this account! Thank you for your speedy response here, and i hope you can do it again ASAP so that I can get the word out to my fellow students and professors if necessary! TheOneTrueDJ (talk) 02:04, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wait six months. Stop engaging in sock puppetry and lying about it. Appeal your block via UTRS from Gamerguy94. If you're still banned from UTRS at that time, email an administrator and ask for your talk page access to be re-enabled on Gamerguy94's account. This how you get unblocked. Pestering people from this account and wasting our time with lies not going to do it, and I would venture a guess that this is the reason why you were banned from UTRS. SithJarJar666 got unblocked after pulling all the same shenanigans and lies that you have – plus some. He was actually more disruptive than you. If he can get unblocked by following the instructions, so can you. This is about all anyone can say, so I've disabled your talk page access. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:51, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
