Welcome

edit

Hello TheInfoUK and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Islamic Centre of England, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Drmies (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • OK--you need to stop edit warring. Look it up, at WP:EW--it's wrong. Second, you need to explain your edits in an edit summary. If you can edit an article, you can also leave an explanation. Third, you need to realize that we are an encyclopedia, not a website for your organization. Fourth, I have no doubt that you have a conflict of interest (see WP:COI) and so you should be extra careful. If you fall foul of these requirements again I will block your account for disruptive editing and promotion. Drmies (talk) 18:25, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi

Thanks for the message. First I am new to Wikipedia editing. Second this is an organisation which I am familiar with, I attend there just as I attend my local library, is that a conflict of interest (WP:COI)?! so I thought I would add as much info as I can and learn on the way. Fourth, I have been leaving explanations when I make the edit. TheInfoUK (talk) TheInfoUK (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • OK--well, if you say you don't work for the organization, I'll gladly take your word for it, though you gotta admit your user name kind of sounds organizationally. The article as it stands now is fine; additional information will need to have secondary sources--think the history of the building and the organization, its effect, etc. You can't, for instance, add, like you did, that there's this many people from this many countries, because there were no reliable sources for it and it really sounds promotional. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 20:10, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
