Hi Ryan, We are a class of students studying technology and politics. We feel our class is at the forefront of discussing technology, political science, and law and its implications for society. I'm hoping that by making a wikipedia page, we might inspire other colleges and professors to discuss these issues. There may be another page being created as well, although we assume only one will meet quality standards. The vandalism must have been a brief joke.

Hey, I'm sorry to tell you that I see almost no chance of the page being considered notable. There aren't any notability criteria for classes in a university and frankly under Wikipedia notability policies I couldn't see it happening. Unless there was something truly special about the class so that it was covered widely by the media, it couldn't be published as an article. Okay, thanks for responding Ryan. Totally understood re: notability.

• Two further points.

1. If it is your own class you are writing about, you have a conflict of interest. A Wikipedia article is supposed to be written from a neutral, independent point of view, and you are likely to find it difficult to edit neutrally on a subject in which you have such a close involvement. It is better for you to edit on a subject where you don't have such a direct involvement.
2. If you are writing the page because "We feel our class is at the forefront of discussing technology, political science, and law and its implications for society. I'm hoping that by making a wikipedia page, we might inspire other colleges and professors to discuss these issues" then you are writing it to promote your class, and to promote discussion of the issues. Wikipedia policy is that editing to promote anything is not permitted, and any page created for that purpose may be speedily deleted. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:10, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
