ZipcodeZoo edit

Hello TheGreenJohn. First of all: thanks for helping out with moth and butterfly articles. Could I ask you a favour though? Please do not use ZipcodeZoo and EOL as sources for species lists. These websites are full of errors (they list all synonyms and subspecies as valid species)... If you want to make a list of species for a genus page, I suggest you use LepIndex, taxapad, funet and/or wikispecies (best is to use a combination of these). Please note: LepIndex is great, but somewhat outdated. Taxapad is great for some families, but was hacked recently, so dont use it for now. If it's back up, it's a great source for taxonomy. Funet is good for butterflies and some moth families, but very incomplete. Same for wikispecies. Furthermore, I am wondering if it is such a good idea to add an explanation about the Noctuidae vs. Erebidae on every genus page, I think it would be better to just discuss it on the family pages and wait for the dust to settle so it is clear what the new taxonomic tree for the superfamily will look like. Cheers and happy editing! Ruigeroeland (talk) 18:35, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Grammodes geometrica edit

Hi, TheGreenJohn: I have seen that you are one editor of the link Grammodes geometrica. I have seen that the pic in the lower of the article is wrong. Doesn't belongs to G. geometrica but Trigonodes hyppasia. The other with the taxon is correct. I don't know how to edit that, so I hope you can do it. Thanks and sorry if is this not the right way to ask for that fix. Happy editting! --Macrodomo (talk) 12:03, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Macrodomo, I saw your post about the image on G. geometrica and would love to fix it. Can you give me the source of your information that the lower image is, in fact Trigonodes hyppasia? With a source I can go ahead and change the title for that image as well as remove it from the page. Thanks for the help --TGJ (talk) 19:28, 28 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, TheGreenJohn. Thanks for your advices, sometimes I'm very inocent in this things. In the wikipedia you can find the pic of trigonodes hyppasia, this is the correct pic in the correct website. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigonodes_hyppasia G. geometrica has the lines absolutely parallel: the lines in Tigonodes hyppasia starts in a common point, making three angles, that is the means of "trigonodes"; "tre" (from τρία)=three, "gonodes" (from γωνία)=angles. Other link: http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-15-16/ophiusini/ophiusini_13_1.php Or just take a look in google searching images with trigonodes hyppasia. there you can find the wrong pic and see that the author of the pic has correctly clasificated the moth: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Trigonodes_hyppasia.jpg I hope it has been helpful for you.
