Thanks. In my opinion there’s still a lot of collaborative writing/rephrasing/discussions which needs to be done until we reach a consensus over the article. I must say that I have a suspicion that if this article won’t become semi-protected, sooner or later a lot of random editors would try to delete major sections of it and replace them with biased information. either way, I still plan to add some more important information within the next days. I appreciate your common sense regarding the removal of the picture in the History article. It seems some of the regular editors of that think they can brush aside legitimate concerns. Now fixed. Article History of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict now shows the template expanded, by specifying {{Campaignbox Arab-Israeli conflict|state=plain}} and, for example 1920 Palestine riots shows it collapsed (no parameter given).

About my Your Israeli population stats

You tried to change the population for Mizrahi Jews in Israel based on stats from CBS on Asian Jews, however, Mizrahim are Asian and African Jews. In addion to that the website has Israeli as an origion, many of these people perhaps about half are Mizrahi or Sephardic Jews. So get your facts straight. WP:CSD nom of Palestinian poetry declined

There are only two valid reasons for speedy deleting a redirect, and "bad redirect" isn't among them. If you nominated an article and your only reason was "bad article" I seriously doubt any admin would go ahead and delete it. In the case of a valid search term such as this one, it's a better idea to look for a more reasonable target for the redirect as opposed to trying to delete it, which is what I did in this case. For redirects that do not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, we have deletion discussions at WP:RFD. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:13, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Israeli

I see you've inlined a number of references to Israeli so they really lead to "Israeli Jewish". That does not seem to make sense. Not all Israelis are Jewish. It is OK to say "Israeli Jewish", but the inline misleads the reader. It purports to reference only Israeli. But leads to a sub segment. I would suggest you either say both words in the article text, or revert those edits. Thoughts?--Epeefleche (talk) 18:35, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Being Jewish means being part of both a religion and an ethnicity. The Israeli Jews group is a sub-group of Israelis and they do have their own distinctive culture and history (even though not all of them are religious). Just like the Arab citizens of Israel population group is a sub-group of the the Israeli population group and they have their own distinctive culture and history AND just like the American Jews population group is a sub-group of the American population group and they have their own distinctive culture and history (even though not all of them are religious).

Nevertheless, the reason I think it would be better to just use an internal link to the Israeli Jews article instead of stating clearly in each article they belong to the "Israeli Jews" subgroup is because many of the people whom do belong to the Israeli Jews subgroup tend to refer to themselves only as "Israelis" - they do so mainly because this sub-group is the current majority in Israel and their nationality is more prominent in their identity than their religion (the current majority of Israeli Jews are also secular). Yep, I'm well aware of the facts that Jews are both a nation, an ethnicity, and a religion. The issue is this -- if the indicted are Israeli Jews (which they are), say it. Don't hide it in an inline. Current situation on the Decade Montages

Why should the montages stay status quo? I originally made montages for most of the pages. There has been changes to those montages by other editors and users, and I have accepted them, because I believe they are whats good for the montage. I myself revert the images back to there previous form sometimes, by most times I argee with the changes made. However, what is happening here doesn't seem very accepting. We seem to be reverting each others edits. Wikipedia is a co-operative community of users and people who want to contribute to this website. Now, I dont want edit wars too, yet could we be more open to changes in the montages. The discussion board seems very mute on the subject. You and I seem to be the only main contributors in this certain area. Maybe we could work on some guildlines of each of the montages, set up codes and rules of how montages are made. There could be a place to post a montage which you or others fell could work for a certain decade article. Everyone makes a different montage and we vote on which on we find better suited for the article that it is representing. I would like it if you could review the montages I have made and suggest some changes to them, if they are nessessary. I would do the same the montages you have designed, and then it would be a collaborative effort. Instead of reverting every change we make. I hope to hear from you soon. Israeli wars and armed conflicts

Ok, but let me tell you this: what you are doing it's not right, because you are adding airstrikes and one-day limited operations to a major armed conflicts' table. That's why I put some days ago "see other limited military operations". How can you mix in a same table something like "Operation Entebbe" or "Operation Opera" with large-scale conflicts like the Second Intifada or The retribution operations (both of them with many Israeli operations inside)??? What you are doing is very confusing. Besides, if you are adding one-day operations, I see no reason to avoid adding the Israeli limited attacks of the Sheeba Farms conflict. In my opinion, due to popular demand we would need to present the most prominent attacks in this article before someone else would go ahead and do it (this would include prominent one day attacks as well). I think we should discuss how to present the data though - maybe have the "Armed conflicts involving the IDF not defined as wars" divided into several sub sections. Although I do not have any particularly strong views on the subject, I note that you amended the edits made by me earlier today, and placed the prime minister ahead of the president in the list of incumbents. In terms of protocol, the head of state comes ahead of the head of government. Furthermore, I previously checked as to how this issue was dealt on similar listings by year and country, and in all cases, where, both head of state and head of government are mentioned, the former comes first, even where the head of state, as in Israel, is largely ceremonial. In my opinion, placing the presidents ahead of the prime ministers in the incumbents section would create a false impression that the Israeli Presidents have more executive power than the Israeli Prime Ministers, while in reality the president of Israel is essentially is a ceremonial role while the real executive power is in the hands of the Israeli Prime Ministers. First, may I again reinterate what a great job you're dong on the Year in Israel lists. I hope you do not mind my minor edits.

I note, however, that you have now reached 1967, and I query the use of the word "Palestinian", as used in later pages. Certainly until after the Six Day War and, for many instances, not until the Oslo Agreement (and for others, even beyond), was the single word Palestinian used in Israel, or in most of the World, to describe the Arabs in the West Bank (who were Jordanian citizens until 1967), Gaza and the refugee camps. I have therefore amended the word "Palestinian" to "Arab" in the subheading dealing with terrorism, to which I trust you have no objection. Cheers Davshul (talk) 09:42, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

The population group whom referres to themselves nowadays as Palestinians were referred to during the British Mandate of Palestine as "Arab-Palestinian" (while the Jewish Population were referred to during the British Mandate of Palestine as "Jewish-Palestinian"). I am not sure at which point they started to refer to themselves only as "Palestinian". Either way, I think we need to keep a section which would include only the terror attacks made by the Palestinians/Arab-Palestinians and refrain from calling that section anything else but "Palestinian terror attacks" or "Arab-Palestinian terror attacks".

Year in Israel series - Awards

Hi,

Thank you for your comments on my Talk page. There is another issue I would like to discuss with you. I had intended adding details gradually (based upon availability of time) of the recipients of the various Israeli Awards (e.g. Israel Prize, Bialik Prize, Dizengoff Prize, EMET Prize, Sokolov Prize, etc.) as well as Israeli recipients of international awards. As you may be aware, over the last year or so, I have spent a great deal of Wiki-time and effort on the lists of these recipents (in particaular the Israel Prize and the Bialik Prize), as well as a multitude of categories and creating articles on the various recipients (although, in this respect, much work still remains). I was proposing to create a new section entitled "Awards" on the Year in Israel pages. However, in the meantime, I note that, under the "Literature" heading, you have added all the recipients of the Bialik Prize for Literature. The question is how best to proceed. Many of the awards, in particuale the Israel Prize, do not fit under a specific topic. My suggestion is that we have an "Awards" section, in which we list the all the recipients of the various awards and that where the is an award that also falls under one of the other specific topics (e.g. Literature, Sport), the award to the recipient in question is also mentined there. I am still not sure if having a separate awards section would be the best thing to do. I mean, all the other similar years articles on the English Wikipedia only focus on the events, births and deaths. The reason for that is most likely so that these important articles would only focus on the most essential prominent information and that the problem with having “culture” sections is that sections such as those might become too big and become the main focus of the articles. For this reason I am not entirely sure if we need to have a "culture" / "popular culture" section in these articles at all. Is there any other pages in which we would be able to talk about this important concern (besides in my talk page) together with many other Wikipedians who share this interest before we go ahead and add any more information to these sections? 20XX in China

I don't see why moving "20XX in China" to "20XX in the People's Republic of China" was necessary - the articles include ROC events as well, such as the inauguration of Ma Ying-jeou. The list includes events from the PRC, ROC and Hong Kong, and not just the PRC. For the same reason we have a 2010 in the United States article and not 2010 in North America OR the 2010 in Israel article and not 2010 in the region of Palestine. All events which are not related to the PRC should be moved to seperate articles. There wouldn't be a lot to put in the articles for ROC and Hong Kong, though. Not much tends to happen there (and/or gets reported in Wikipedia). To be honest the page move from "XXXX in China" to "XXXX in PRC" should not have been done without asking the people at WP:China first. Non-free material usage notice

Hi. I discovered that you used the photo File:Tank Man (Tiananmen Square protester).jpg in the article 1989 in the People's Republic of China. However that usage is irrational and was removed by me. Hi. Well, English wikipedia has a one article about Adyghe/Cherkes nation but a lot of wikipedias has more, like Russian (ru:Адыгейцы, ru:Черкесы), Lithuanian (lt:adygai, lt:čerkesai), Polish (pl:Adygejczycy, pl:Czerkiesi), etc. So, there are two ways: we can sort articles by their names as I done or we can leave interwiki mess till all wikipedias merge or split articles about this nation/group (what doesn't seem to be soon). The Hebrew wikipedia only has one article - there is no reason the English article shouldn't have an interwiki to that article or to the other wikipedias which have only one article about the subject. I presume that you are referring to instances where English language sources are not available. Hi Becky. I only added the most major attacks in the template (worst suicide bombings, shooting attacks, assassinations and kidnapings committed against Israeli targets in the 2000s). A full detailed list of all attacks can be seen in the links supplied in the bottom of the template. I myself was also amazed that most of these articles have not been written yet. Therefore I am currently attempting to write all the missing articles. Following your comment I decided to reorganize the information in the template. hope you like it better now. Read the source article, note which sources validate what claims in the Wikipedia article. Each time there's a section of the WP article from, say, Source Y, you close out that section with:<ref>Source Y citation</ref>. There's an auto-generator called RefLinks, so for now just put the http:// link inside the ref tags, and I can hit the button and have them all converted to nice, clean citations afterwards.
