Never mind. Originally, the link didn't work. Now that I've fixed it, I believe this article, with improvement, can probably stay. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 22:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
No problem. Sorry for submitting it for deletion. When I couldn't get the link to work at first, I reacted instinctively. I need to stretch my article writing skills a bit, so I'll help flesh it out for you. Oh, and I've moved it for you. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 22:54, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem, and thanks. Theclerkswell (talk) 22:58, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Yep, that's enough to show notability. Now I need to go and do something else, sorry. Keep working on it and ask me if you need any help. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 23:18, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

All right, Thank you for the help. :) Theclerkswell (talk) 23:19, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Your reform

Glad to see it. People say it happens, but I'd never seen it till now. Makes me feel good going into the New Year. Best of luck and happy editing! Daniel Case (talk) 05:43, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Adoption

What do you need help with? I'll see if it matches up with what I can do. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:58, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

How to cite sources. TheClerksWell (talk) 19:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Is it just that? Generally adoption is a long-term thing, where a user needs constant or near-constant advice. What are you trying to cite? A website? A magazine? Something else? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:51, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Markup, like when you put that little number beside a sentence and when you click it it goes to the bottom of the page. That's it, i think I can figure other stuff out. If it's a long term thing then I don't need it I guess.

(edit conflict) The little number happens automatically if the references section is formatted correctly (most usually with "{{reflist|2}}" under the References heading). After that, all citations turn into numbers on the page wherever the citation is made and all the infomation on them goes down to the reference list. As for the citations itself "<ref>[reference here]</ref>" is the most basic. There are some templates, such as {{cite web}} and {{cite journal}} that provide additional reference information, but those can be complex if you don't know what you're doing, so if you're worried, just use normal <ref> tags and another user will clean it up later. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:04, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thank you. :)

You're welcome. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:22, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

An image or media file has been removed from your userpage, user talk page, or other page because it was licensed as fair use. Wikipedia's fair use policy states that Copyrighted images under fair use are only allowed to be used in articles about the subject of the image, and only if no free equivalent is available. For example they are not allowed to be used on user pages, in lists, or (typically) in biographies of living people.. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's fair use policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of fair use images. Further use of these images will be considered vandalism, and shall be treated as such. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Rettetast (talk) 23:13, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Rettetast is absolutely correct. Your re-insertion of the fair use content here and here is against policy. Nobody needs permission to edit your userpage to remove policy violating content. Please see WP:NFCC #9 which explicitly prohibits the use of copyrighted imagery outside of the main article namespace. Please do not re-instate this or any other fair use image to your userpage. If you have questions, I'll be happy to answer. Simply reverting is not the pathway to go here. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 00:01, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Since you chose to revert again, I have protected your userpage from editing. The page can be unprotected if you acknowledge here that you can't use non-free images on you userpage and thatyou won't insert such images again. Rettetast (talk) 00:06, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

I reluctantly acknowledge that. Now stop being a bully and let me edit my Userpage.

TheClerksWell (talk) 00:16, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll unprotect. If you reinstate the image you will be blocked. Rettetast (talk) 00:25, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Ok, fine asshole, you already told me to not put up an innocent image of a cartoon or you will follow a stupid rule and block me.

Jerk.

TheClerksWell (talk) 00:26, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Prove to me that the image is not legal to use on my page. I think it is UNFAIR that you won't let me use the FAIR USE image. I suggest you contact The Brothers Chaps and ask them if I can use the image.

TheClerksWell (talk) 00:30, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh you are lucky. Other admins would block you on the spot for such immature personal attacks. Consider this your last warning.
As for the image. Wikipedias policy can be found at WP:NFCC and especially #9. "Non-free content is allowed only in articles". If you think the policy is stupid and want to suggest a change you can bring that up on WT:NFC, but let me warn you. It is a waste of your time.
I can't not see that anyone is being unfair here. The policy applies too everyone. Rettetast (talk) 00:48, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
TheClerksWell/Archive 1 thinks the image policy is GODDAMNED UNFAIR!!!

Wow, Wikipedia is serious business.

TheClerksWell (talk) 01:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey, why did I only get one warning, this is not fair. I should get two or three warnings. >:(

Re:Image deletion

That's quite enough. If you continue to flaunt WP:NFCC#9, upload copyvios, troll, harass other users, or edit disruptively, I will not hesitate block you from editing. Consider yourself warned. -FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:54, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

What is a copyvio?

TheClerksWell (talk) 03:55, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Look here, buddy. Before someone removed an image from my page that happened to be copyrighted, there was no problem. The copyright holder was not threatening a lawsuit and there were no arguments. Now people are coming and removing the image that was copyrighted, even though it was harming no one. Policy dictates that it needs to go. Common sense says it does not matter if it stays on my page.

TheClerksWell (talk) 04:04, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps you should read Wikipedia:Five pillars. The goal of Wikipedia is to build an encyclopedia of free content, that is, content that can be reused or modified by anybody for any purpose. We disallow non-free images here because they contradict our mission, not because we're afraid of being sued. See also Wikipedia:Veganism parable. Let me know if you have questions. —Bkell (talk) 16:52, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

I begrudgingly accept the rule of copyright images, but still,

Also, the new messages joke is gonna stay. :)

Misleading "You have new messages" bar

Hi again, TheClerksWell. I notice that you've restored the misleading "You have new messages" bar on both your user page and your talk page. This is clearly an attempt to be annoying and disruptive by tricking users into logging out. I won't remove them again unilaterally (see WP:3RR), but I will ask you to voluntarily remove them yourself. If you don't, I will probably bring this issue up for third-party review at Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts or another similar place. —Bkell (talk) 19:26, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

It is just a silly prank, I fell for it once, thought it was funny, and put it on my page. People can log back in, it's not like it will bring all of Wikipedia down.

It's not "Clearly an attempt to be annoying and disruptive" as you sarcastically put it. It's a joke, get a sense of humor.
