February 2013 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Bridport Prize, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "TheBridportPrize", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or have the appearance of shared use. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Armbrust The Homunculus 09:42, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I assume by that you mean an article in Wikipedia. A Wiki is a type of software. Please read about conflicts of interest, and also the Business FAQ may be of help in understanding the issues involved. Please request a change of username today, as indicated above, as this account is in violation of the username rules and will be closed as soon as the name is changed. Please do not do any other edits until then. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 13:34, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have opened a new account GFBridport i have edited the prize page under this accountTheBridportPrize (talk) 14:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

No. It seems you have not read the linked pages and noptices on username restrictions, and conflicts of interest. You have now also engaged in sockpuppetry on three accounts (so labeled). Please request a username change to an admissible, individual name, not a group, or request closure of those accounts. They will be closed as soon as a new valid name is created. Any other sockpuppetry issue, after this fair warning will lead to an immediate block. Should you have any questions please ask here here. -- Alexf(talk) 14:11, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Gosh this is a nightmare... all i wanted to do was update the page with the 2012 winners! I read i could have the username graham at the Bridport Prize

I know there is a COI but what ever name i ask for will always be a COI. I can declare my COI on the page14:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)TheBridportPrize (talk)

Sorry about that but we have rules that must be followed. Please pick a name that identifies you and only you. Does not have to be a real name. It can be a nickname. Then identify your COI in the user talk page. As per the links to all the winners names, please do not bother as they will be removed soon. You have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a list of events and winners and such. Those belong in your organization's webpage. Here we only need, and want, neutral, and not original information on notable subjects. -- Alexf(talk) 16:25, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer instead to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you prefer to change your username rather than create a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
