I think this user's edit was constructive – they were adding information about a real event, and they weren't aware the source they were using was not considered reliable by Wikipedia – and as soon as that was pointed out to them, they replaced it with a better source. I don't think there is a problem with telling them to find a better source, or even reverting their edit until they do so – but saying their edits "did not appear constructive" seems contrary to WP:DONTBITE. Just wanted to add something: the NDAA hasn't passed Congress yet, but it currently exists in two versions – the House version (H.R. 8070, already passed the House), and the Senate version (S. 4638, still being considered by the Senate). This section (828) is in the current Senate version of the Bill, not the House version. The Senate is currently considering amendments to their version of the Bill. Once that process is over, the Senate will pass their version of the Bill. And then the two versions will go the Conference Committee, which will negotiate a merger of the two Bills. I know you added some text about this to a lot of articles, but you haven't made the situation clear (no doubt because the article you are relying on as a source doesn't make the situation clear.) I don't know if I have it in me to go and update every one of those articles to be more accurate, but maybe you can. There are three possible outcomes going forward (I personally have no clue which one will happen): (1) the Senate will accept an amendment to remove or weaken this section and hence it won't end up in the final Senate version; (2) it will survive in the final Senate version, but the House negotiators will oppose it in the Conference Committee and hence it will be removed or watered down there; (3) the Conference Committee will approve it, in which case almost certainly it will be enacted. Obviously these lobbyists are pushing for outcomes (1) or (2) not (3). SomethingForDeletion (talk) 00:00, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
