File copyright problem with File:Aaron-hill.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Aaron-hill.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILY (TALK) 21:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:L visnovsky.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:L visnovsky.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:42, 18 October 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 21:42, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Dpenner27.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). File:Dpenner27.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Dpenner27.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Dpenner27.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Dpenner27.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 21:49, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:File:RuizSwinging.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:File:RuizSwinging.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — raeky (talk | edits) 00:27, 19 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

October 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — raeky (talk | edits) 22:15, 19 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image sizes edit

Hi, could you refrain from changing the infobox image size and making it too large please? It often breaks the formatting of the page and makes the text difficult to read. The default is 250. Black Kite 06:18, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, the only reason i do that is because it looks bad when there are white borders aroung the images, so can I atleast enlarge it enough to fit the box it's in, maybe anywhere from 275 to 300 width, i have edited the dwight howard image so let me know if that's alright.The911venom (talk) 23:44, 23 October 2009 (UTC)the911venomThe911venom (talk) 23:44, 23 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of image sizes edit

I replaced File:Lubomir visnosky.jpg with a larger version. Whenever you can, please upload the largest possible version. An easy way to do this is to use the Flickr uploader for Commons: http://toolserver.org/~bryan/flickr/upload

That way, you don't have to download the image to your hard drive and it fills out the licensing information automatically. Cheers! --Mosmof (talk) 22:58, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
