re: Ysgol Gyfun Gartholwg

edit

Ive put it in my watchlist... You could request a semiprotect for the article until the 25th so that IP's and new account cant start an edit war on it.  rdunnPLIB  11:31, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg

edit

Someone (I think I Know Who) has created this duplicate page yet again and it's just getting stupid now. Is it possible for somone (you maybe?) to lock this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhydfelen and prehaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ysgol_Gyfun_Rhydfelen. as you say, thats it, I've had enough! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.145.162.171 (talkcontribs)

You can ask the peepes at WP:RFP to semiprotect the page so that only regesterd users can edit it. If you want me to do it for you I would be happy to do so.  rdunnPLIB  11:26, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks I will apply for semi protection. Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 16:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rhydfelen

edit

someone is gonna need to look after Rhydfelen as people are starting to revert our redirects. I would look after it but I'm going on easter hols soon so am unable too. If it happens too much someone (preferably you) might have to go to WP:ANI and explain things.  rdunnPLIB  09:50, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay thanks. Actually I have been watching Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg but had not been watching Rhydfelen I forgot to add it to my watch list. Its on there now.Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 10:50, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg

edit

Hi - you reverted an edit I made on the above page, as it "did not appear to be constructive". Now, I'm pretty new to all of this, but would you mind explaining how information regarding a forthcoming Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council meeting concerning the name of the school could be in any way unconstructive? Thanks. Goleuni (talk) 22:51, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Not a noticeboard for forthcoming events. Whilst it may seem important to you. Is it really something you would expect to read in an encyclopedia. Also edits have to be referenced, giving a good source like "the South Wales Echo" or the BBC. Thanks for getting in touch.Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 07:19, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen

Hi- I'm also new to this. I have checked the Wikipedia page that explains what vandalising is. I'm pretty sure I wasn't do this By the way, would you be Cath Sanger by any chance? --Tjg12345 (talk) 20:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)(talk)Reply

Hi. Yes you were, maybe not intentionally and no I am not. Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 20:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The deletion of an entire page is vandalism!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghostbustters (talkcontribs) 20:40, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other new pages

edit

If you find other new pages on the school, let me know and i'll deal with them, or speedy delete nominate them. Speedy deletes can get backlogged, but generally they go pretty quickly. --GedUK  07:55, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help. Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 08:16, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is the page okay now?--Ghostbustters (talk) 15:05, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Your bit could do with a reference if you can find one. I know what you have put is correct but another editor might not. I have added a tiny bit. Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 15:24, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh dear

edit

what's happened to that darn page again... i've noticed dates aswell... sureley you cannot note something in an encyclopedia that hasn;t happened yet, thats a little like advertising? I aslo believe that the section on the school badge is flawed? i didnt think that it meant a coald tip on a mountain. I thought that the way I wrote the article to begin with was enough about an average public school, where nothing much happens... --Glenny127 (talk) 00:53, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

re: Garth Olwg

edit

Hi, i do actually prefer to speak English, but always Welsh to the teachers... And i believe I may have accidentally started this with my habbit of correctnessm by moving Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen to be Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg, against quite a few peoples wishes and beliefs. But that's life, they must get over it, it's only a name... --Glenny127 (talk) 01:09, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Michael Owen

edit

I'm requesting that the article be moved back and a link be provided for Michael Owen (rugby player) at the top. The main space (in this case "Michael Owen") should never be a redirect to a disambiguation page. Policy is to place the most prominent person in the main name space, or (if two people are deemed to be equally prominent) then the main name space should be the disambiguation page. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 19:46, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

My argument is that Michael Owen is clearly the more prominent of the two. There is a reason why when you google "Michael Owen" it takes page after page until Michael Owen the rugby player comes up. Hence why google suggests the related search of "Michael Owen rugby" and doesn't demand "Michael Owen football" to find that Michael Owen. It takes until page 8 of google images to find one of the other Michael Owen. These are hardly flawless tests but you have to admit that the football player is clearly more prominent: he is one of the most famous sportsmen in the most popular sport in the world. And that's not hyperbolic. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 20:08, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I never said that the other Michael Owen was not notable or famous; he has many achievements to his name. Owen has also captained his country, in a more prominent sport, and is one of the most famous English sportsmen in history. Can Michael Owen (rugby player) claim a similar achievement? We can place a note saying For the Welsh rugby player, see Michael Owen (rugby player) at the top of Michael Owen's page but outside of that I think you'll find that others agree with me. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 20:15, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I was still rabbiting on here! Sillyfolkboy (talk) 20:16, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
No worries. You weren't to know the general procedure of things. The thing is: some editors do this kind of thing just for the sake of being disruptive. I hope you find the hatnote addition helpful. Happy editing! Sillyfolkboy (talk) 20:27, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jason Lytle

edit

Did you mean to replace lots of existing text on the Jason Lytle page, with this edit? I haven't verified the sources cited in refs - I've not done much to the article at all, myself - but there were some, so I'm just asking... Cheers. Nortonius (talk) 11:03, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's a couple of days now since your last edit, so I've restored previously-existing text and merged yours in, per this diff, where the one intermediate revision not shown is me restoring the earlier version, prior to merging yours in. If you follow me! Cheers. Nortonius (talk) 12:00, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

So sorry for not getting back sooner I dont come on here that often anymore! I have no idea how I did that to the article. I added the Admiral Radley bit and remember doing a preview before saving the changes. I must have only looked at the text I added and nothing else. I can see straight away what a mess I made of it. So sorry and thatnks for sorting it. Thatsitivehadenough (talk) 15:21, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
No problem! I've messed up often enough, I'm sure...! I'm glad that's all it was, and you're happy with what I've done, too. Cheers! Nortonius (talk) 15:32, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
