Welcome to Wikipedia. edit

Whilst we are all utterly horrified and sympathetic at what is happening to Ukraine and to its people right now, Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia which uses reliably published news stories from mainstream media to improve its pages. That includes when updating the page 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine - and we are happy to do that. That is our power and our value.

I know expressing your hatred here at what Putin has unleashed seems like the only thing you can do here, but we cannot allow that. There are better social media platforms for your voice to be heard. However, what we can do for you is allowing reasonable reporting and updating as news stories are verified and published. I can only offer you not only my tears of support to you personally as this terrible thing unfolds in Ukraine and in Kyiv and elsewhere, but also a promise that experienced editors are here to ensure accurate reporting of major news events as they published are then incorporated into the encyclopaedia. We neither make the news, nor report the news as it happens. Our real value is in collating those events and stories into a permanent encyclopaedic account of these terrible days for the world to see forever.

My thoughts and best wishes are with you, your friends, your family and your country during these dark days. You have my very best wishes at heart, Nick Moyes (talk) 16:21, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your kind message.
