disneyland map edit

Why would Disney want to keep copyright on an old map? See Ya', tfullwood 15:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Because they're Disney: see Mickey Mouse Protection Act. More to the point, Disney's motivation doesn't matter. All that matters is whether or not they copyrighted it, and whether or not they renewed the copyright. As the uploader, it's your job to determine that the image was either never copyrighted, or that the copyright has expired. --Carnildo 20:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why did you undo my edit to this article? Did you not think that it improved it? It's customary on Wikipedia to add an edit summary to explain the edits that one makes. Smalljim 18:00, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was thinking that, as more people come to the page, those smaller parts will improve and get bigger. See Ya', tfullwood 13:36, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
OK, that's fine in principle, but...
(1) Trivia sections are not cool on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Trivia sections), which is why I moved the information about Edison in your Trivia section into the main section.
(2) There's obviously no need for two separate sections ("Resources" and "External Links") both pointing to the same external references (YouTube, in this case).
I hope you agree that these are reasonable changes.
The only other small changes I made were (3) to add the approximate length of the film; (4) to remove the Animation category (one should always put articles in the most appropriate sub-category); and (5) to unlink the word flower - because linking to this does not materially add to the understanding of the article (see WP:OVERLINK).
I hope you agree that these are reasonable too. And just in case you're feeling any sense of ownership of this article, can I point you to what is written on each edit page:
"If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly [...] by others, do not submit it."
Anyway, despite all the above, kudos to you for creating an article on an interesting old film that I wouldn't have otherwise come across!
Happy to discuss, but I'll reinstate my changes if you don't do so first, or provide any good reasons why I shouldn't, within a week.
Best wishes, Smalljim 19:16, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
As above, I've reverted back to my version. Do edit the article further (I think the Plot section could do with a bit of a rewrite, for instance), but please don't just undo this edit again, and don't forget to briefly explain your edits in the edit summary box. Cheers, Smalljim 17:11, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Tell that to the guy doing RCT3. No, seriosly.

Fair use rationale for Image:Lego_island_comic.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Lego_island_comic.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 10:12, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Legoislandmap.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading File:Legoislandmap.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 13:57, 17 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Legoislandpicnic.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Legoislandpicnic.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions. If you have a question, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
