Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Christianity article edit
Agreed that the third paragraph was rather POV and weighted too much towards the one topic of persecution. However, it appears that your edits effectively removed all mention of modern-day persecution from the Christianity article. I'd suggest moving some/all of the deleted content to the "persecution" section at the bottom. Thanks! Jtrevor99 (talk) 13:35, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- I removed the links to stories of modern persecution because the text preceding them described historic persecution, creating a false impression which is clearly POV. Furthermore, the links themselves were all to Fox News, which has a long history of playing to the American Christian right’s persecution fantasies. The stories took isolated incidents out of context and exaggerated them to create a false impression of persecution where none exists (usually stories involving health care funding, or deliberate violation of local anti-proselytizing laws); or to hide a motive of retribution for past crimes by Christians (e.g., Kenya and Uganda); or simply to recast a political or tribal struggle in religious terms (e.g. Egypt, or Darfur in southern Sudan).
- The occasional genuine story of targeted persecution — as in the People’s Republic of China, which is an equal-opportunity persecutor of Chinese Christians, Tibetan Buddhists, Uyghur Muslims, and Taoists of the Falun Gong movement — is woven into a patchwork of slanted or false stories to create a false narrative of systematic worldwide persecution of what is now the largest religion on the planet, with one out of every three humans identifying as Christian; two-thirds of all modern countries count a majority (>50%) of residents as Christian.
- In short, any reference to modern ‘persecution’ of Christians, with or without connection to historic persecution (e.g., under the Roman Empire), is undue weight at best, and POV or false at worst. As a former Christian, I well understand the rôle persecution plays in Christian theology, martyrology, and homiletics; but then we’re in POV territory again. Any way you look at it, it has no place in a general article on Christianity. Perhaps the page on Christian Dominionism could use a section about political manipulation of the persecution narrative in the U.S.? — Texas Dervish (talk) 19:27, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
