Hello, Terriffic Dunker Guy. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, 2014–15 Boavista (Cape Verde) football season, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. – Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 19:16, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Onze Unidos edit

Hello, I had a question on the dab page you created for Onze Unidos. You're probably not aware, but dab pages need to meet certain guidelines. I'm inviting you to have a look at WP:DDD. Now, the problem is that the dab page you created doesn't meet these guidelines. More specifically, any entry in the dab page needs to be mentioned in an existing article, that's WP:DABMENTION. That's not the case for the Portuguese football club, and the Nova Bassano neighbourhood you mentioned. Now, there are two ways to fix this. Either the dab page gets reverted, what I have done temporarily, or one can find a way to make sure the name Onze Unidos gets mentioned in other articles on Wikipedia, which would validate the entries on the dab page. Do you see any chance of getting that done? Rgds, --Midas02 (talk) 21:19, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of A Espuma das Canções edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on A Espuma das Canções, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —OluwaCurtis »» (talk to me) 16:28, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi. Ignore that speedy-deletion nomination which was mistaken (it would only have applied if you had posted the identical Portuguese-language article here).
There is one important step you have missed: Wikipedia's CC-BY-SA license requires that when material is copied from a WP article, attribution credit is given to the authors. You need to credit the authors of pt:A Espuma das Canções. The best way to do that is to put on the English article's talk page the template {{Translated page}} with an appropriate link to the Portuguese source page. See WP:Translation for general advice, and carry on translating! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:30, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article is not to be removed, it is to be kept, thanks. I have already linked it, perfectly translated from the Portuguese language version, (the album photo not added). Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 15:36, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, good, but you still need to provide attribution to the authors of the Portuguese article you translated, as I described above. JohnCD (talk) 15:48, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Of course I will provide attribution. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 16:13, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

You didn't do it, and it is important, so I have done it for you at Talk:A Espuma das Canções. That will give you an example of what is needed if you translate more pages, as I hope you will. JohnCD (talk) 21:43, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Translations edit

Hi, I see you've been translating a lot of articles. Fantastic, thanks very much!

What the editor in the section above is saying is that on English Wikipedia, it's strongly recommended to give attribution for a translation in two ways, so it's absolutely clear. One is to refer to the foreign-language Wikipedia article in the first edit summary (or as soon as you remember!) You've been doing this, although clearer than "courtesy pt wikipedia" would be "translated from pt.Forte Duque de Bragança (for example). The other way is, create the article's talk page using the "translated page" template. I have done this for you at Talk:Forte Duque de Bragança: look at this to see how to make the template entry. The reason to do that as well is so that someone doesn't have to check the article history - which can get quite long over time - to know that the article is a translation.

The other thing I would add is, check your translation by following the links in the original article and seeing what English article they are interwiki-linked to. For example, "pastel" doesn't mean the same in English and Portuguese - I found the Portuguese Wikipedia article linked to an article on a plant, which gave the name of the dye that was the actual export, "woad". I have edited the article making that and other changes - have a look.

Again, thanks! This is very useful work. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:25, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. I will used the part "translated from (other language) Wikipedia", I can still write as "courtesy (other language) Wikipedia" with it. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 15:50, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Sporting Clube da Praia into Tchadense. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Rainha de Beleza edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Rainha de Beleza requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Proposed deletion of Campo da Sucupira edit

The article Campo da Sucupira has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A half-size training field? No evidence of any notability, and no reason why it would be notable (that it may have been used for first division matches in the past is not sourced, the Cape Verde first division is not a very notable competition in any case, and with a capacity of 500 it comes fairly low on List of football stadiums in Cape Verde)

Speedy deletion nomination of Associação Juventus edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Associação Juventus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Lunar Article Edits edit

I have noticed you have been editing many articles on lunar craters recently. If you look you will see my username on the history of most of them, because I have done a lot of work improving them, primarily by adding images and references over the last several years, and most of the articles were originally created by RJHall more than 10 years ago. I have some suggestions. I do not see the need to add diameter, depth, eponym, or other information to articles that is already in the infobox. Calculating area or circumference is a derivative of diameter (assuming it is a circular crater as most are) seems unnecessary. In the article Littrow, you have a section on "View of the Earth" which is strange. It may be correct, but I don't understand the application. Are you planning to add similar sections for other craters? It would make some amount of sense to have a section like that at actual or proposed landing sites where humans would have a view of the earth, but not at every crater or even just random craters. Also, you are tagging most of your edits as minor edits when they sometimes significantly change the content. I'm not trying to stop you from being an editor - I love it myself - but it does require some restraint at times. Jstuby (talk) 20:05, 18 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your comments below on edits on lunar articles, here are a few thoughts. It perfectly reasonable to have a crater's diameter and coordinates in an article, but including them in both the infobox and in the text is redundant. And including approximate distance to nearby craters could be useful, but I think most of the value would just be in linking to nearby craters, and this has been done in most articles. An objection might be that a lot of text is spent on describing everything around a crater or other lunar feature, but very little on the significance of the crater itself, which is supposed to be the subject of the article. Regarding the old Lunar Orbiter photos, I agree that many of them are not very good and the top image (in the infobox) generally should be a high quality, orthogonal image from LRO, Clementine, or Apollo mapping camera. However, sometimes the Lunar Orbiter images have unique perspectives on the craters that reveal details that can't be seen in other images, so unless they are fairly bad (and certainly some are that I have put there in lieu of other images at the time) I would prefer to leave them there. They also have some historical value - for example many Lunar Orbiter 5 images of the far side were the only images of some features for more than 20 years. Regarding libration, yes, it is a good thing to mention that a crater can be visible at some times from earth and invisible at other times, because this is valuable to observers on earth with telescopes. It is good to have another lunatic editor and I look forward to collaboration. Jstuby (talk) 03:42, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

August 2017 edit

Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Dawnseeker2000 21:47, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

The user was warned about this before, see Lunar Article Edits above. Jstuby (talk) 16:59, 14 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
And it's why I thought it might help to say it again, so I just followed your lead because it is important to use the tools correctly around here. Dawnseeker2000 18:08, 14 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I use the tools correctly here and I continue this. On the sentence: diameter craters, some articles of craters on Mars has the geo location and the diameter. Some parts with approximate distance between craters with contours are okay, there is one work or two depicting the approximate distance between a few craters. Though the exact distance between two craters running over hills, craterlets and some mountains has yet to be done, some of these should be measured, I support this.

On the table, one or two articles, where there is an LRO image, more updated than earlier Lunar Orbiter photos depicting a crater in the same location with the photos facing north, if I see and LRO image on Commons, if I want to update a photo to replace and earlier Lunar Orbiter 4 photo, it has to be more pixels (of an LRO image inside the image displayer depicting the number of pixels in an image page) than an earlier Lunar Orbiter ones, one example.

The view of the Earth from a location on the Moon, sometimes, it is slightly in a different position due to librations on Earth, in the further areas of the Nearside and the surrounding areas of the Farside, it is not seen in higher areas when it is in librations for some times.

On minor edits, it is just spelling corrections and some rearrangement, thanks. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 19:46, 14 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is about minor edits, not about the other lunar stuff which can be discussed elsewhere. We are just asking that you do not mark an edit as minor when you are adding a few sentences, whether you think it is controversial or not, or when deleting or rearranging images. Jstuby (talk) 03:25, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I respond to this, I do no mark an edit as minor when I am adding a few sentences and image updates (rearrangement) to the recent updated (e.g. LRO) than the older (Lunar Orbiter 4), but only with like 100 pixels more. I am very careful, one example when I enlarged a photo for larger computers (despite that some has it automatically at 300 pixels over 250 via the preference section where it select a photo size, clicking on 300 pixels, it enlarges from 250 to 300 pixels on its own), I do not mark it as minor. Thank you. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 14:55, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

You are still not understanding. For example, look at the 17 edits you recently did on Conon (crater). You marked 16 of them as minor (with the small m). Maybe a few of them are, but certainly not the ones where you added a new section or replaced photos. And again, respond to issues about LRO vs. Lunar Orbiter or image resolution in the thread above. Jstuby (talk) 16:15, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I did not know on the minor edits section earlier. I thought the minor edits were just a sentence added, it is just spelling corrections and changes and one modifications, not other, that I have already understood and I keep that in mind. On the other, where available, I updated only one or two images (a page that has an earlier image but on Commons and in one other Wikipedia has the updated image) because the later one has more detail, in one part, there is no room to relocate the earlier image (one part, I added the available photo of the crater viewed from Earth via the telescope, not one I added that was from a zoomable camera, also on that one). A couple of months ago, I have updated a few photos in some articles that are not on or of the Moon. Thank you. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 16:31, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Pellenes marionis edit

Thanks for creating Pellenes marionis. Getting right the authors of the scientific names of animals can be tricky. Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Spiders/Style guide#Taxon authors and the section on Synonyms below. If the species name, in this case marionis, is the same, then for animal names the author remains the same, but is put in parentheses if the species is moved to a different genus.

It's not called "renaming" when a species is moved from one genus to another; most sources say "transferred".

Interlanguage linking. edit

Hi. Thanks for helping expand English Wikipedia articles. However, Please note that the method you are using to refer to interlanguag links is outdated. For instance, adding es:Feadillo saotomensis to Feadillo saotomensis only links to the Spanish version, omitting equivalent versions in Swedish, Dutch, Cebuano, etc. See Help:Interlanguage links for instructions on how to link English articles directly to Wikidata, which maintains interlanguage connectivity even if any articles are renamed. Cheers! --Animalparty! (talk) 22:59, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

The interlanguage linking, the interwiki, does also put the English version, a translation with one of articles appeared from a translation (e.g. Spanish) and put the link at Wikidata. The bot transfer of Interwiki to Wikidata keeps continuing, the different interwiki put on Wikipedia is transferred entirely to Wikidata by a bot that transfers a link (one at an article, recently translated) and put the newly added (e.g. English language version) at Wikidata by a bot. A foreign language version is put at a Wikipedia page, later, a recently translated article (e.g. in the English language) is put at Wikidata and the other language link (e.g. Spanish language) on Wikipedia or at Commons is removed by a bot after a recently translation in one language appears on Wikipedia, the article's name is put on the list of articles that a bot will do on adding a recently added version and then removing an interwiki link (e.g. on Wikipedia or on Commons).
