automatic citations edit

Hi, Terick34. I converted the citations on your draft. If you know the DOI of an article or it is listed in JSTOR and you can find a stable link, e.g. jstor.org/stable/4130726, you can paste that in to generate a full citation. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:20, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Intended target edit

Your sandbox is for improvements to Alexander von Humboldt, correct? I can see the 1869 decline fitting somewhere in to Scholarly and public recognition but do you intend to replace what is in the The United States 1804 section with your paragraph or add it? Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:23, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, Terick34. Sorry for the delay. I think you're good to add in the new section on his declining fame, but the visit to America looks like it is also covered [[1]] fairly well. Can you integrate some of your info into that section without re-writing it entirely? Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:01, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Thomas, this is Charlotte. I'm not sure if you've uploaded your information to the main space yet, but I looked at what you had in your sandbox. As far as editing, I added a few commas that were missing. Also, I noticed that in your last paragraph, when you begin with "First", "Secondly," etc, those transitions are followed by sentence fragments, which you should probably make into complete sentences.

Thomas, I like what you have so far in your sandbox. I think you've done a lot of good research, but I think you have to cite your sources more often. For example, the entire first paragraph isn't cited. I also think you need to add in some links to other pages. Additionally, there are some minor grammar mistakes you should clean up (White House instead of Whitehouse and a comma between Washington and DC as examples). Also, I didn't count the words in your article so far, but as Charlotte pointed out on my article, we have a 700 word minimum, so make sure you hit that. Otherwise, great job. Hey Thomas, You have good information, but be mindful that if it isn't a totally original thought you need to cite sources. Look at the second sentence in your first paragraph I would suggest you reword or break it up into two. Also the info you cite from Nichols very vital but I want to encourage you to really reword the sentences for how you present it. The fragments after "First" can be rephrased to be more coherent. Biggest thing is rephrasing the second paragraph and you should be set. Pcooperterpmail (talk) 02:39, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
