Question

I am an anonymous user. Anyhow, I just received a message that a change I made to an article was vandalism. Problem is, I don't know which article it was, or if it was even me, because I never try to vandalize Wikipedia pages. The page I was on when I saw that was the discussion page for Basque Country, if that matters (that's the first time I'd accessed it).

authenticmaya

Hi!! Thank you very much for your observations, I am only tryng to Help clarify the Maya History, My Non profit web site www.authenticmata.com took me more than 1 year of investigations in order to be accurate about the Maya Civilization and Maya sites in my country Guatemala. Thank You again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Authenticmaya (talkcontribs) 03:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC).

Tyne and wear Fire and Rescue Service

Hi. thanks for your comments about my contributions to the fire/emergency service articles. Perhpas you could help polish the Tyne and Wear fire service article, if you've added a lot of detail. Articles do need to be correctly referenced, so I'm reverting the templates that you've removed. It's not a criticism of the article, but an opportunity for editors who scour those categories and then help with changes. If you've substantially contributed to an article - it would have been easier to provide refs as you go, but I'll help with this. There's still quite a lot of Wikifying/copy editing to do on this including removal of caps from sub-headings etc. I had to stop on Fri as I was out of time. Thanks again for your comments - it's appreciated. Escaper7 11:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

More on above

Please can you stop capitalising sections of this article, I spent about an hour cleaning it up today to find you've changed appliance to Appliance and many more. It's neither correct English or Wiki policy and headings do not need caps either. I'll add you a welcome page thingy that someone sent me when I started editing articles, it's extremely helpful, I'll put it on your user page. Please don't be disheartened, there's lots of good stuff in this article, but it needs to be correctly laid out to meet Wikipedia's standard guidelines. Please discuss major changes on the article's talk page instead of replying to me so other eidtors get involved. Thanks and again, please don't be put off Escaper7 19:45, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Reply: Hmmm. It's not what you believe that matters. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia with high standards and several policies. This is taking up a lot of time but here's a few simple pointers:
  • You've added the references - that's great, so if I revert the article (as I should) that will wipe your refs.
  • Wikilinking fire, etc is briliiant, but you only do it for the first reference to something, and only when relevant so no need to Wikilink red, white blue.
  • Cap-up proper names - see the discussion pages on the article I started Fire service in the UK heated and long winded - it's about why we don't call it the Fire Service in the UK, but we would for example say Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (i.e it's a proper name)
  • No need to constantly repeat things like community fire station - and they should not be capped. You're reluctance to follow Wiki's guidlines is going to hinder work on this article and other fire project articles. It's nothing personal, it's simply wrong. And you'll find life much easier if you discuss major changes on articles on talk pages for the subject in question. Regards Escaper7 20:00, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
PS: pls see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles and Wikipedia:Manual of Style - apologies again but I'm only trying to help you. It's going to take ages to correct the things about this article that are simply wrong, but I'll leave it your judgement as I'm out of time. Escaper7 20:12, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Fire Service

Tellyaddict, welcome to the WikiProject Fire Service! It is my goal to increse the overall quality of articles on English Wikipedia relating to the fire service while keeping an international perspective. Please feel free to leave me a message with any questions! I look forward to working with you! --Daysleeper47 15:10, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

How can I add content?

I would like to add content to wikipedia. How can I do that?

Etande 18:01, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Your Signature

I noticed that your signature currently contains the following {{user:Andrewh/Xmasbox}}. While the sentiment is very nice, I would like to point out that per the signature guidelines, it is not preferred to transclude pages in your signature. They place undue load on the server, especially as it has already been transcluded into 50 talk pages so far. If you'd just modify your signature to say {{subst:user:Andrewh/Xmasbox}}, it would substitute the text of the box into the talk page in question, helping to cut down on calls to that page. Also, if you want, I can quickly go back and substitute all of your previous uses by utilizing AWB. Thanks, and have a great day. ^demon[omg plz] 08:56, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

I happened to notice that you removed the userbox from your signature. If you could just let me know, I could go back and substitute all of your previous uses, helping to reduce server load. In addition, I notice that you do not substitute your welcome message, as is considered best form for userpage templates. You might want to try {{subst:Template:welcome}} instead. Thanks, ^demon[omg plz] 04:16, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I went back and substituted all of your previous uses, rather than remove them all. Now the extra server load from trancluding a template on talkpage won't be an issue. As for how I do my signature? My signature is stored on a subpage of my user subpage (here). Then in my user preferences, I put {{subst:User:^demon/sig}} into my "Signature" box and checked "Raw Signature." Now, each time I sign a talkpage, I just put ~~~ and it'll output whatever I keep on that subpage. And since I put subst: at the beginning, it puts the full text of the signature in each time, rather than merely transcluding it. (A bit more info can be found in my talk archives) Hope this helps, ^demon[omg plz] 13:20, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Are you signing with 3 or 4 tildes? You only need to sign with 3 when using this method. ^demon[omg plz] 21:13, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Ceramics stub

Please do not remove contributions. The comment about the stub was to highlight an error in the description. It was not vandalism - User:213.249.205.34, 2006-12-18T13:01:09

welcome template

Hi. I noticed that you've been adding {{Template:Welcome}} to a bunch of user talk pages. It's preferred to use "{{subst:welcome}}" to add the welcome message. See WP:SUG. Thanks for helping welcome new users! Geoffrey Spear 20:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Cane-do

Howdy! I removed the DB tag you added to Cane-do. If it can't be salvaged, then a WP:AFD may be more appropriate. There's not criteria for speedy deletion to the effect of 'it's a question answer page'. Take a look at the actual criteria, and thanks for tagging! - CHAIRBOY () 19:12, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Frank Beuselinck

You marked my page on Frank Beuselinck for speedy deletion, although he is one of the Captains of Industry of Belgium. The page was created less than an hour ago and marked as a stub to indicate that it needs further work. Pvosta 19:58, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I will re-create the article with additional proof.

Rename a page

Hey Tellyaddict, I noticed you editted the content I submitted on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacefellowship

However I fear with submitting I messed up the name.. Spacefellowship should be "Space Fellowship" for the page I think... but I can't find out how to rename the page. Can you help me out with this ?

Thanks, Edward

Merry Christmas to you as well!

Telly, enjoy your Christmas as well! Cheers! --Daysleeper47 02:18, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Be careful

Please be careful with articles that you tag for deletion seconds after they are created: [1]. Louis Wolff was a famous cardiologist; Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome bears his name, and the article was created by User:Eras-mus, a longterm contributor here. By no means would this be a CSD A7 case -- Samir धर्म 15:38, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

No probs. Take care and Merry Christmas -- Samir धर्म 15:50, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism (not by you)

I suggest you file a suspected sockpuppet report at WP:SSP. That will probably prove they're sockpuppets. If it doesn't (for some reason) then keep placing warnings on the account as the vandalism continues. I can block the registered account and unprotect the page. Then, if this is the same vandal, they'll probably provide grounds for a WP:RFCU checkuser request. If they continue disrupting the article then we can seek a community siteban, but (to be fair to all users) we don't do that too quickly. Thank you for your patience and keep following up. Happy holidays, DurovaCharge! 14:26, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

When you add a template to somebody's talkpage regarding an act of vandalism, you should normally always use the | element to show what page it was, e.g. {{subst:test2|article title}} so that it automatically refers to it in the message. The "subst:" element is also required to reduce server load. — superbfc [ talk | cont ]19:28, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Excuse me, but you should NOT delete people's messages in your talk page just like that... (see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines). I know I have been guilty in the past of that, but I have learnt after being reprimanded (and only once). Also, you are still not properly applying vandalism templates. If you use them, please do so properly (see my message above), or otherwise please leave it to those who do know how to. — superbfc [ talk | cont ]19:42, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

{{Subst:__}}

Hi - generally the relevant template's documentation (usually on its talk page) will tell you whether it needs to be substituted or not, but as a general rule, any "housekeeping" templates like {{vfd}} or {{spam}} or {{vw}} etc. are subst'd because they are used far more frequently than templates used on actual pages for the purposes of providing content. For more guidance, please see Template talk:Subst and Wikipedia:Template substitution, thanks — superbfc [ talk | cont ]20:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Motor Ace Shoot This Tracklisting

I have reverted the edits you made to the Shoot This page. The reason for doing so is that other album pages don't have the tracklisting in bold because it doesn't look particularly appealing. Also, although the linked songs are currently red links, I am currently in the process of expanding Motor Ace coverage on Wikipedia, and plan to create those pages shortly, as well as uploading album images when I can scan my album covers in the next few days. In the meantime, if anybody else can provide information for those more popular songs, then it is more inviting to do so if they are ready to go.

I do not understand your intention.I am just trying to re-directing and you seem to use very harsh terms on the edit, without any reason.

Southernstar

Paul Sédille Page

Did you even read this page?

It is a very brief summary of a French architect's work with a fairly ample bibliography.

Bibliography are not translated!

I intend to add further to the biographical information and photographic documentation, but your censoring by demanding translation is disgraceful!

I had read about this kind of idiocy on Wikipedia. I had no idea it would only take hours before crushing stupidity would bear down on a simple biographical entry.

Sédille - Be Careful Again

I refer you to "Be Careful" by Samir above.

You apparently have a history of tagging material for deletion within moments of its appearance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AppliedIconology (talkcontribs) 18:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC).

Speedy Deletions

Just a suggestion, when you mark a page for speedy deletion or PROD, it's a good idea to enter a comment in the edit summary saying that you've nominated this for speedy or added a PROD tag.--Isotope23 20:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello

Thank you for the welcome. Can I contact you by email for some questions in private?

Response

Hi Tellyaddict,

Was I the one tagging this person as a sockpuppet? If so, I don't do that unless I'm pretty sure, based on editing patterns, stylistic evidence and a couple other things. Let me know if I can help and feel free to send me (by talk page or e-mail) anything you want. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 17:33, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem! Happy to help. Except I really need to get up and away from my computer for while. Have a great day, Antandrus (talk) 18:44, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Yoshida Family Artists

Hi Tella - I have added spacing, sources and categories. Is that enough. Thanks Mitakadai 19:02, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi.

What is all this HATE against Miltos Manetas and Neen? These people are valuable artists, they make exhibitions all over the World and they create remarkable concepts. I want to keep the Articles about them at the Wikipedia. I am not experienced, I just started my account today because I noticed that the Neen Article disappeared and I was using it for my University Thesis (I study Art in Italy) . Would you please explain me how to contest you decision to delete the articles?

All my best

Priscilla

Hey hey hey!

Gimme a minute. I'm creating year in poetry pages for the 1860s. It's easier to create them a decade at a time and fill them in, so hold your horses about editing them. Gimme at least an hour, OK? You should check the time the article was created before you start deleting things. Anyone could be in the process of filling in a brand new article. Noroton 18:31, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Please try fixing, rather than deleting links, or at least give a guy two minutes to fix something.

Yes, on NADC, I accidentally gave the subsection rather than the Article#Subsection for the Nigerian National Air Defense Corps, but it was rather annoying to come back three minutes later to find the sentence removed. Robert A.West (Talk) 19:29, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Article Editing

Hello there, I am new to Wikipedia, well editing that is. I have been trying to edit the article about a website called World Chess Network. The information I put into the article is accurate and comes from their website. I myself play on the World Chess Network and am part of the staff there. A user by the name of BlueValour keeps erasing these changes. Is there any action I can take to prevent this?

thanks,

Hey

Hey there. I am in the US and I am left handed to. Can you check my page on "Crittermator"

from Jean on the new Erica Burman and Ian Parker pages

Hi, please don't delete the Erica Burman and Ian Parker pages. They are important figures. Together they founded the Discourse Unit (for which I just put up a page) and are key figures in Critical Psychology (Erica Burman has put feminist perspectives on the agenda internationally for developmental psychology and critical psychology, and Ian Parker founded the Annual Revew of Critical Psychology, which is an online open access journal in the spirit of the Wiki project). ...I dont' remember deleting any text, I may have marked it for speedy deletion but i wouldn't have just deleted it?
