October 2013 edit

Hello, I'm WikiDan61. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Four Horsemen Studios because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. You are free to expand this article with properly cited material. But you must not use such terms as "For 14 years, the studio has been designing and producing some of the finest action figures and collectibles in the toy industry." That is spam, pure and simple. I realize you may well just be an enthusiastic fan of the company, but you still must adhere to neutral language. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:32, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I understand your concern for tone and it will be worked on but there is form and structure in my edits that are also being removed. What you keep reverting to ism in wikipedia's terms, a stub and has been nominated for deletion. By wholesale removal of everything, including the form and structure, you do not help me as a new contributor, you do not help others by giving them a foundation page to build on and you do not help wikipedia to improve this page and the community as a whole. The form and structure that I add could give others a reason to further improve the article in a way that does meet wikipedia standards and even I could concentrate on fixing tone rather than rebuilding that structure again. If you have issue with a sentence or paragraph than edit that, do not delete the structure and form that would give myself and others series of goals to achieve.

By simply deleting all work on the page you give the impression that no changes are allowed on 'your' wiki and that a 5 year old paragraph with no currant relevance is preferable to an outline to guide people to a better wikikpedia article. Tekwych (talk) 15:52, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry if I've given you that impression. The article clearly does need improvement, but improvement must move in keeping with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. A one paragraph stub is better than a 40KB advertisement. I would suggest that you create a userspace draft (say at User:Tekwych/Four Horsemen Studios) where you can expand the article and work on the tone and the proper referencing. Once you have a version that you think might be acceptable, seek an outside opinion. I would recommend seeking input from a member of WikiProject Toys as they would be the most knowledgeable about this topic. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:58, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
